Yes I agree that we should have a good mentality, but surely a good mentality would involve getting behind the team, not booing. It just seems a bit fickle to me.

you just said it was after the final whistle..?

if we were top and failed to beat (at home) the leagues bottom team...I would be pretty fuked off

Eh? Us booing or them booing? Saints v Colchester there was boos after the match. Saints v Charlton, Charlton fans booed at half time.

Yes I'd be ****ed off too, but they were booing with 45 still to play!

Positives: looked solid defensively except the few occasions we got caught on the break. Perry weak link but Jaidi looked class in both boxes. Pardews tactics of matching their five in midfield were a little negative but largely worked to stifle a confident and lacey Charlton side.

Negatives: lack of pace throughout the side meant we rarely caught them on the counter. Our CM 3 didn't combine well enough when we had the ball bar a few moments of quality from Morgan. Would have liked to see Waigo on earlier to go for the win - looked lively and even tracked back to tackle!

How can their fans criticise anyone?

I thought it was rather ironic that they sang "you're not singing anymore" when they scored, because they only made noise for about the 5 minutes following their goal and that was it, the rest of the time it was all our lot.

Perhaps they shouldn't blame Pardew for last season, they should blame themselves for their uninspiring, lifelessly crap support

Exactly! I found it quite funny, and mildly annoying too.

I went on Saturday, persuaded that Charlton away is the best day out. Great around the London Bridge pubs even better at the match. They are top; we matched and bettered them for all but 20 minutes at the beginning of the second half and finished stronger than them. Couldn't really see their goal properly but it all stemmed from our free kick into their box, easy collect, quick out, run down the left, cross and then I don't know what happened.

Someone said it earlier, we are best when we're allowed to play. We haven't got the balance right when it's all hoof. Interesting to read the Charlton Messageboard, nothing so one-eyed as a supporter! I think AP got his substitutions right but Papa could have come on with 10 minutes, not 2 minutes left. good sign though, he didn't shirk a tackle.

We nedd to get past that 0 point mark - it might sound simplistic, but its a huge psychological barrier - I think as soon as we are back on an even keel even if still 10 points behind - we will see progress - the building blocks are there, but there seems still to be this nervousness that has prevented us from playing OUR game for 90 mins - and has been the bane of the last 3 seasons. As we have been repeating ad nauseum over the last 3 years, when we play with care free confidence we have and do beat the best in our divisions - when nervous and shackled by pressure we are poor and relegation fodder.

Time for AP to almiost say 'feck it - go out there and enjoy yourselves and the results will come, because right now I still dont think we are coping with the millstone that was the-10 points.

I don't believe he is that type of manager....he's more dogmatic than that IMHO (note: 'Dogma' can be a useful trait in a football manager, so don't take this as blind criticism, just an observation)

Now, if Mr Keegan had been installed as our manager I believe your wish for 'go out and enjoy it' style of football would have been in evidence by now....;)

Wasn't there, but it sounded good on the radio! As I recall from last year, the Valley has weird acoustics - seem to remember singing, "You're supposed to be at home!" as we couldn't hear anything from the other stands, but my Charlton-supporting mate assured me that there was a lot of noise. Go figure.

Nah, after they scored you could hear them. There wasn't even any movement before then.

minus 5 points now. A couple of wins on the trot & we'll be up & running.

It's a good point against a team flying at the top.

In the end - we held out under a lot of pressure. They had 2 goals disallowed AND hit the post. So - all in all - a decent point.

Agree whole heartedly. Many good positives to take to the Yeovil game. Gotta look to finish the teams off in the first half then play a spoling game in the second.
