It is set as my homepage and that's no problem.

The problem appears to lie with the BBC site itslef. You can customise it to how you want it, but it keeps restting itself today for some reason

Souns like wheels an Ash may have different problems.

wheels: In order for the BBC customisations to "stick" your computer need to bet set to allow Cookies. When you do customisations to the web page, those changes are stored in the cookie, and next time you load the web page it looks for the existence of that cookie and applys your changes to the "standard" BBC home page - the one you're getting every time.

It's most likely that you (or someone) has disallowed your computer from storing cookies. Some people think that allowing web sites to create cookies on your computer is a potential invasion of privacy and/or a security risk. It's generally accepted that unless you frequent the darker recesses of the internet, this is not the case. Do other sites recognise you when you access them? Amazon, iGoogle, ebay, play.com etc? If not, it's almost certainly a cookie problem.

I'm presuming you using Internet Explorer. Go to Tools - Internet Settings and select the Privacy tab. You could either adjust the slider to allow different levels of cookie access, then test it by making a change to the BBC site, closing IE, then opening it again to see if the change stuck. Alternatively click on Advanced and click the "Override automatic cookie handling" box. Click on both "Accept" radio buttons. If you're not using Internet Explorer, let me know what you are using, but the process is similar for all browsers.

Ash: Sounds like you have your start page pointing at a specific historical page on the BBC site. Go into Tools - Internet Options and under the General tab make sure it says simply http://www.bbc.co.uk/ or http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/ for the top level football site or http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/southampton/default.stm for the top level Saints site (although God knows why you'd want to do that!). The crucial thing is to make sure it's not pointing at a page that contains a specific news item under the top level.

Hope some of this makes sense. Don't hesitate to PM me if you want.
