Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 9 September, 2009 Posted 9 September, 2009 Mick McCarthy has said he can go out on loan. Apparent Saints fan, so could we get him in, or will Wolves think League 1 is too low. Surely be a good loan signing if not.

Surely be a good loan signing if not. I saw that on SSN earlier and had the same thoughts. Certainly a better option to partner Lambert than the rest and likely to get plenty of games rather than going to a championship side as cover for their first choice strikers.
RedAndWhite91 Posted 9 September, 2009 Posted 9 September, 2009 He is a big Saints fan, just whether or not he would drop down to League One is a different matter, as I have heard he wants to go to a Championship club on loan if anything.
lee_saint Posted 9 September, 2009 Posted 9 September, 2009 Looks like Doncaster, Plymouth and Ipswich are after him.....I think it would take alot for him to drop to League One, he'd be a half decent loan signing if we could.
Bailey Posted 9 September, 2009 Posted 9 September, 2009 I'd like to see Vokes here but with some of the names mentioned on the SkySports article, we don't stand a chance. Patrick Agyemang is looking more likely though. Lets wait and see what happens when the loan window re-opens.
lordswoodsaints Posted 9 September, 2009 Posted 9 September, 2009 As soon as he slips that saints shirt on you can be sure he will turn sh1te.

Bailey Posted 9 September, 2009 Posted 9 September, 2009 It opened today until Nov 26th. Ah right, wasn't aware of that. Well I wouldn't be surprised if he did join within the next couple of weeks, but as I understand it, Agyemang isn't overly keen on the move. We'll have to wait and see what happens with this one.

Surely be a good loan signing if not. maybe ....? perhaps Wolves owe us one - after taking Surman from us for a cheap fee.
Saint Fan CaM Posted 9 September, 2009 Posted 9 September, 2009 I think Vokes would be a very good loan move - I feel sure he would work his socks off for Saints.
Channon's Sideburns Posted 9 September, 2009 Posted 9 September, 2009 At last...make it happen. If it did happen I can stop going on about how we should have signed him before he left Bmth...
sperm_john Posted 9 September, 2009 Posted 9 September, 2009 hes crap, seen him play at bournemouth few times, we really dont want him... trust me
Tamesaint Posted 9 September, 2009 Posted 9 September, 2009 How about getting Surman back - on loan to start off with and then buy him back permanently?? So far he has made 1 substitute appearance for Wolves in the League and made 1 appearance in the CC Cup. His Premiership season has lasted 25 mins so far and the only way that he is likely to get injured this season is if he finds a splinter on the Wolves's substitute bench. Rumour had it he didn't want to leave in the first place. Wouldn't it be great if he was prepared to "do a Kelvin" and forego Premiership wages and a life on the subs bench for matches with the team that he and his family have always supported??
Lets B Avenue Posted 9 September, 2009 Posted 9 September, 2009 hes crap, seen him play at bournemouth few times, we really dont want him... trust me Out of talk your arse you.
AndyNorthernSaints Posted 9 September, 2009 Posted 9 September, 2009 why would we want a premier league player from Wolves on loan????????????? obviously can't be good enough for league 1???????????????????????? has anyone played against him who could have made it in football coaching/management? and posts on here?
Genk Posted 9 September, 2009 Posted 9 September, 2009 Whats the limit to the number of loans you are allowed? I remember having difficulties on football manager haha
SaintNeil90 Posted 9 September, 2009 Posted 9 September, 2009 It would be a quality signing. When I saw him at bournemouth I thought he looked by far their best player and he was only 17/18 at the time. He big and strong, pushes people out the way to get the ball. Exactly what we need. The question is would he come here... His heart would say yes as he support saints and I believe would have come to us if he had the choice when signing for Wolves. However we were in the Championship then. His head is probably saying to further his career he needs to go to a Championship side. However before he makes up his own mind, Wolves would have to allow him to go to League One, and would they do that?
Saint_Sheer Posted 9 September, 2009 Posted 9 September, 2009 He would be a great loan! If we all remember he scored in 38 seconds againts us at their place! But like you guys are saying would he want to drop all the way to league 1?? Hopefully he comes tho! Maybe him and saganowski with lambert on the bench

hamster Posted 10 September, 2009 Posted 10 September, 2009 Maybe he just needs a little encouragement, you know, someone telling him that a move to Saints would be a good career move... His Uncle works at the parish church of st thomas and st edmunds in Salisbury, told me once that pulling on a saints shirt would be a dream come true for Sam. It's really down to money though' let's be honest here. He knows that he is worth more than we could pay him surely.
Deanovski Posted 10 September, 2009 Posted 10 September, 2009 pay him...if youre talking about a loan he still gets his wages paid either by us or wolves..
hamster Posted 10 September, 2009 Posted 10 September, 2009 Would Wolves not expect us to cover all of his wages though? If they'd only want a contribution then maybe Sam would consider it, but Wolves would be losing outr I'd have thought.
Deanovski Posted 10 September, 2009 Posted 10 September, 2009 yeah hes on 5 or 6 k a week maybe clause saying more when promoted but if we have 50 perecent wolves still pay the other 50 so they lose out.
lordswoodsaints Posted 10 September, 2009 Posted 10 September, 2009 A friend of his brother told me he was on £2400 a week when wolves were in the championship,in the prem he would have got a pay rise, maybe a 50% rise so I would say he is only on about £4000......not really out of our league really but will he bring more to the table than lambert who is a similar player?
saintrich Posted 10 September, 2009 Posted 10 September, 2009 He was going to sign for Derby last week, so I highly doubt he'd come here.
the saint in winchester Posted 10 September, 2009 Posted 10 September, 2009 maybe ....? perhaps Wolves owe us one - after taking Surman from us for a cheap fee. Hmm, nice one - let's pursue that angle. I'd love it if he came here, just love it. Time to call his bluff and see if he really is a Saints fan, prepared to get on board.

Kingsland Nick Posted 19 October, 2009 Posted 19 October, 2009 League One clearly isn't too low for him and Wolves, as he has joined Leeds.
S-Clarke Posted 19 October, 2009 Posted 19 October, 2009 Max Gradel has just come on for leeds too - he's been awesome
Deanovski Posted 19 October, 2009 Posted 19 October, 2009 they wanted 500k fee for him to go on loan plus paying 100% of his 5k+a week contract.

Smirking_Saint Posted 19 October, 2009 Posted 19 October, 2009 I would have taken Gradel, Vokes, although a good player, i feel we are ok in the big man department
Prince Jazzbo Posted 20 October, 2009 Posted 20 October, 2009 (edited) Too late.... He's gone to Leeds Just realised it was already on here Edited 20 October, 2009 by Prince Jazzbo Lack of brain
Chez Posted 20 October, 2009 Posted 20 October, 2009 shows the spending power and attraction of Leeds. If we keep this run going we are going to become a similar attraction.
Thorpe-le-Saint Posted 20 October, 2009 Posted 20 October, 2009 I don't understand that, if I was a pro footballer and I knew Saints were interested I would want to move there, end of!

St. Neil Posted 20 October, 2009 Posted 20 October, 2009 Anyone know if Joe Keenan is still a free agent and if he is still half decent, local lad as well.
Badger Posted 20 October, 2009 Posted 20 October, 2009 Anyone know if Joe Keenan is still a free agent and if he is still half decent, local lad as well. Last thing I read or heard was that he was playing in Australia. Not the way his career once seemed destined but it may be that he has not fulfilled his potential or the expectation of him.
Weston Saint Posted 20 October, 2009 Posted 20 October, 2009 According to his mother and brother he did want to leave - for either a Premier or CCC team - as a Saints fan he'd like to have stayed if we'd been in the CCCThat's interesting, I assume you work with them both. I will have a word with mum and dad when they are back from South Africa because I am told he was told he had to go by the Administrators and those running the club at the time.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 20 October, 2009 Posted 20 October, 2009 they wanted 500k fee for him to go on loan plus paying 100% of his 5k+a week contract. this is not true
Clifford Nelson Posted 20 October, 2009 Posted 20 October, 2009 I can't quite understand the reasoning. If we are to take on quality loan signings they won't be prepared to come here and warm the bench. At the moment Conolly can't be guaranteed a game, and he's just signed. Or are we gonna bench Lambert? In the striking department I think we are looking at possible understudies, and they won't come here as loans. It's OK to have a christmas wishlist, but let's have an idea of what to do with them.

Indeed, we want a happy crew on board the good ship Saints, not frustrated players who expect to be in the first team and cannot get a game because of too much competition. Priority seems to me to be with defence with Trotman still only a loan until January.
saint_mears Posted 21 October, 2009 Posted 21 October, 2009 Anyone know if Joe Keenan is still a free agent and if he is still half decent, local lad as well. He has had some sort of trial at eastliegh in the last week.
