chrisobee Posted 9 September, 2009 Posted 9 September, 2009 Crucial game for us. We were put in and after recovering well from 119/4 to 280 have now lost 3 quick wickets and are 287/7. Pothas and Adams both made very good 90's but both out very quickly. This is a game we must win so hopefully we can up to about 350.
chrisobee Posted 9 September, 2009 Author Posted 9 September, 2009 Just noticed Moen Ali who bowls spinners has 2/12 so might be something there for Tahir and Dawson.
chrisobee Posted 9 September, 2009 Author Posted 9 September, 2009 357/8 at close of play. Cork 28* and Tomlinson 16*. The tail is wagging for once!
Leicestersaint Posted 10 September, 2009 Posted 10 September, 2009 not a bad score despite some failures - now can our bowlers deliver?
chrisobee Posted 10 September, 2009 Author Posted 10 September, 2009 Now 378/9, Tomlinson just out for 23, Cork 43*. Put on 56 for the 9th wicket, just hoping we can sneak up to 400 !
Doctoroncall Posted 10 September, 2009 Posted 10 September, 2009 When do all the bonus points kick in or is it done at the 100 overs stage... it's been a while since I last looked at the scoring system!
chrisobee Posted 10 September, 2009 Author Posted 10 September, 2009 Shame, 383 all out. However, Moen Ali took 4/29 so hopefully Tahir can weave his magic, Worcs are not the strongest batting team in the world, famous last words though probably!
chrisobee Posted 10 September, 2009 Author Posted 10 September, 2009 When do all the bonus points kick in or is it done at the 100 overs stage... it's been a while since I last looked at the scoring system! Good question ! I lost track of the bonus points system years ago ! Where is Steve Grant when you need him! I do know that last night Hants had enough bonus points to take them above Sussex by one point, current table one point behind.
chrisobee Posted 10 September, 2009 Author Posted 10 September, 2009 Ok, this is it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/County_Championship Bonus points are collected for batting and bowling from the first 120 overs of each team's first innings. Batting 200-249 runs: 1 point 250-299 runs: 2 points 300-349 runs: 3 points 350-399 runs: 4 points 400+ runs: 5 points Bowling 3-5 wickets taken: 1 point 6-8 wickets taken: 2 points 9-10 wickets taken: 3 points
chrisobee Posted 10 September, 2009 Author Posted 10 September, 2009 So we scored 4, Sussex got 2 for making 260 or so.
chrisobee Posted 10 September, 2009 Author Posted 10 September, 2009 Ah good, a breakthrough after a 70 run opening partnership. A wicket for Tomlinson, Worcs 70/1. Tahir yet to bowl.
chrisobee Posted 10 September, 2009 Author Posted 10 September, 2009 89-3 Moore out Beat me to it! That's better and Tahir has not had a bowl yet. 2-19 for Tomlinson.
bungle Posted 10 September, 2009 Posted 10 September, 2009 121-5 at the minute. A slight chance of enforcing the follow-on!
chrisobee Posted 10 September, 2009 Author Posted 10 September, 2009 (edited) Tahir on. One ball, one wicket. I was wondering when he was going to bowl ! Must be something in the pitch for all the bowlers. Currently 134/6 needing another 100 to avoid the follow on. That after being 70/0 as well. Edited 10 September, 2009 by chrisobee
chrisobee Posted 10 September, 2009 Author Posted 10 September, 2009 Meanwhile Durham are 627/4 ! Poor Notts getting hammered.
chrisobee Posted 10 September, 2009 Author Posted 10 September, 2009 Tahir 3 runs for 2 wickets now I knew he should have bowled sooner ! 138/7.
chrisobee Posted 10 September, 2009 Author Posted 10 September, 2009 The other crucial game for us is Sussex v Warwickshire.Sussex 254, Warwickshire 238/5. Bell made 104.
chrisobee Posted 10 September, 2009 Author Posted 10 September, 2009 Great stuff, I went out when they were 7 down. Back within half an hour and all out, Tahir 4/18. I imagine we will enforce the follow on ?
Lets B Avenue Posted 10 September, 2009 Posted 10 September, 2009 159 all out. Also keep an eye on Lancashire. Being taken apart by Trescothick atm. 23 points for us and we will be level and with a game in hand. Damn! He's out for102 but Somerset are 200-1.
chrisobee Posted 10 September, 2009 Author Posted 10 September, 2009 I'm keeping an eye on Sussex who are struggling. Warwickshire lead by 3 runs with 5 wickets in hand.
keithd Posted 10 September, 2009 Posted 10 September, 2009 could have skittled them out for 17 runs less if we'd not given Ervine 2 overs
chrisobee Posted 10 September, 2009 Author Posted 10 September, 2009 could have skittled them out for 17 runs less if we'd not given Ervine 2 overs Yes, I was thinking that lol
chrisobee Posted 10 September, 2009 Author Posted 10 September, 2009 Also considering they were 70/0 that was some collapse so an early wicket is a real bonus.
chrisobee Posted 10 September, 2009 Author Posted 10 September, 2009 6-3 Smith c Pothas b Cork 0 We could win in 2 days! Worcs have no confidence.
bungle Posted 10 September, 2009 Posted 10 September, 2009 We could win in 2 days! Worcs have no confidence. We'll be lucky to get 7 more wickets by 5.30! Still, should be done quite soon tomorrow.
chrisobee Posted 10 September, 2009 Author Posted 10 September, 2009 Cork 3 overs, 1 run and 3 wickets, not bad for an old 'un !
chrisobee Posted 10 September, 2009 Author Posted 10 September, 2009 We'll be lucky to get 7 more wickets by 5.30! Still, should be done quite soon tomorrow. We could take the extra half hour lol
chrisobee Posted 10 September, 2009 Author Posted 10 September, 2009 I just remembed as well Worcs put us in to bat, oh dear oh dear !
chrisobee Posted 10 September, 2009 Author Posted 10 September, 2009 58-4 Moore c Lumb b Tomlinson 28 Just what we needed after a mini recovery. I'm not sure what time they'll finish as I think tea was taken after 3.10 I imagine as more overs needed to be bowled. Still I'm very glad the day did not end at 5.30 as scheduled!
chrisobee Posted 10 September, 2009 Author Posted 10 September, 2009 58-4 Moore c Lumb b Tomlinson 28 BTW your updates are quicker than Cricinfo!
chrisobee Posted 10 September, 2009 Author Posted 10 September, 2009 Warwickshire are 302/5 off 107 overs, at that rate Sussex won't even get the full bowling points.
chrisobee Posted 10 September, 2009 Author Posted 10 September, 2009 (edited) Don't know why they insist on bowling Ervine, 2 overs for 15 now. Edit 2.1 overs for 19! Edited 10 September, 2009 by chrisobee
chrisobee Posted 10 September, 2009 Author Posted 10 September, 2009 Even though we are clearly in a fantastic position I'm really baffled as to why Ervine is still bowling, 4 overs for 31 now.
Lets B Avenue Posted 10 September, 2009 Posted 10 September, 2009 :Listening to the hilarious BBC Worcester commentary. 102-4 at close. Off to the pub. :drinkers:
chrisobee Posted 10 September, 2009 Author Posted 10 September, 2009 :Listening to the hilarious BBBC Worcester commentary. 102-4 at close. Off to the pub. :drinkers: Yep, should wrap it up tomorrow just as long as Dimi realises with himself, Cork, Griffiths and Tomlinson we don't need to bowl Ervine!
Leicestersaint Posted 10 September, 2009 Posted 10 September, 2009 So our bowlers did deliver- now let's finish them off - please!
