Robsk is playing for me in the charity thing tomorrow, he has asked me to tell you that he and Ben and Tony will play the usual Saints Web footie if the charity thing finishes in time (which it should).

You've got me on Facebook if you want another on the list for the 11-a-side.

Hope the charity thing today went well.

hey mate, yep no probs. Charity thing was good fun, we got to the semi finals and lost to the team that won it. Good fun and all for a good cause. I should not have played 90mins for this though after!!!

I may well be able to show for this if you are really desperate, as the Andover tournament finishes at 3PM. I won't be lloffended if I'm too old, and out of interest my nipper thought you lot were 'well good' the other week, hence he won't be coming again.

I was hoping to catch the end anyway, so I'll chuck the old predators and shinpads in the boot of the car just in case.

Mike, could you post the currrent squad on the tope post please, just out of interest.

Frankly, with an ego like yours, I'm not sure the football community will miss your undoubted talents.. :p

Also, Santos could have been a decent thing, but it became too filled with egos with ideas well above their station. If people realised that it's a game, and set out to enjoy it first and foremost - and tried to improve and win games as a unit, rather than just get their mates in - it would go better. No offence, but no-one in Santos or anywhere 5 leagues above it has anything to gain by winning a game, scoring or anything else. You're not being paid, you're not playing for a contract, you're far too late to ever make it anywhere in the game. You'll never even achieve anything at any other level than the one you set yourself. In the grand scheme of it, 99% of players are basically ****e. So who cares? Get some perspective.

The biggest problem with organising a team is training and should it be a pre-requisite to getting a game?

I know my limitations (I am not very good), but the last team I played for (or didn't as it happened) used to 'train' one evening a week. I duly went along, busted a gut and generally toed the line, match day arrives and guess what, Joe Golden********, who you only ever see on matchday, is playing and muggins gets to run the line yet (again). Funny in hindsight, but treating people like ****s when they just want to have a game of footie is naughty in my book. It's only a game. This is why I enjoy the SWF kickabout, it's just like the playground game; no real rules 2 captains picking teams, no offside, jumpers for goalposts and all that.

I reckon Sunday against these kids is gonna be interesting, I wish you guys luck.

Mike/Spades, Ian only got back to me about the kit last night and he said he is sorry but their own team need it for Sunday evening also, sorry.

thanks for trying Jill. Was good game and we beat the little buggers 4-2 ;-)

in all fairness they had a few decent players and with more games under them they will be fine.

Wasn't Santos your brainchild or something? Thing is, i'm not all for the 'play for fun' mentality, no-one like to lose, no-one likes to watch the same useless player let you down week in week out. If i am playing a game of anything, i want to win, or bust a gut (usually pull a calf) trying to. Not go for a beer at the end and say, oh well, we lost 6-0, but at least it was better than last week.

Yes, I was a 'founding member' of Santos.. for my sins. I think there's a middle ground Stevo. I don't like losing, of course I don't. It is also frustrating to see players who are genuinely awful. I would expect team-mates to bust a gut trying to win, and to get better as a team, play in the right way etc. All I mean is that people should be able to take losing, and quite often it would happen less if people trated the game with the right attitude instead of getting stressed, being childish and so on. At the end of the day, I can take losing, but I do hate it if I feel I play badly within my own limited potential. Even on a SW Sunday kickabout. Of course losing week after week is demoralising, but I think there are good ways and bad ways to deal with it and change things. Too many people get that wrong, IMO. I can also understand competing at a higher level and getting annoyed, whatever, but part of being a good sportsperson really is about how you lose and learn from it. Maybe my experience comes from a solo sport, primarily, but I learnt a lot of tough lessons about sport early on, so I just think Sunday football etc is healthier with perspective. Getting in a mardy at other people, or having a strop, or sulking after losing, achieves **** all - I think we can agree on that.
