niceandfriendly Posted 8 September, 2009 Posted 8 September, 2009 Happy days. Upfront on Saturday please.
the saint in winchester Posted 8 September, 2009 Posted 8 September, 2009 Happy days. Upfront on Saturday please. I'd like to see him from the off, but I would expect Pards will play Saga off Rickie, at least for the first 60 mins, then - depending on whether we are behind or on a par - bring Papa on to play either up front (with Rickie) or wide right (if we're behind and need 3 strikers). Good to know he is cleared to play.
Wes Tender Posted 8 September, 2009 Posted 8 September, 2009 here comes the 'chaos' At the moment it's just chaos theory. I'd be bloody happy if it turned out to be a reality though.
Deanovski Posted 8 September, 2009 Posted 8 September, 2009 jesus hes actually not a striker llol most clubs hes played at hes played at RW.
Saint Charlie Posted 8 September, 2009 Posted 8 September, 2009 We need his pace up front. No point sticking him out on the wing where he will get kicked out of the game.
Deanovski Posted 8 September, 2009 Posted 8 September, 2009 its ridiculous we have no real good right wingers and 2 great strikers crying out for a nippy winger to feed them and you want him upfront...
Saint Charlie Posted 8 September, 2009 Posted 8 September, 2009 its ridiculous we have no real good right wingers and 2 great strikers crying out for a nippy winger to feed them and you want him upfront... Lambert and....surely not no goal Saganowski? We have been crying out for pace up front for ages. We need more movement and general threat up there. All the teams we struggle against have pacy strikers yet we always seem to have one paced guys who do alright but can't go past a man.
oggiee Posted 8 September, 2009 Posted 8 September, 2009 If you look at every Pardew interview regarding Waigo, he always mentions him as being an 'attacker' or saying that 'if we had Waigo running at the defence...' etc, meaning that Pardew does mainly see him as a striker and so I feel that this is where we are going to see him most of the time, depending on the occasion.
niceandfriendly Posted 8 September, 2009 Posted 8 September, 2009 its ridiculous we have no real good right wingers and 2 great strikers crying out for a nippy winger to feed them and you want him upfront... Well Pardew describes him as a striker, so I'll believe him over you on this occasion.
Deanovski Posted 8 September, 2009 Posted 8 September, 2009 (edited) Well Pardew describes him as a striker, so I'll believe him over you on this occasion. Do some research Edited 8 September, 2009 by Deanovski
Glasgow_Saint Posted 8 September, 2009 Posted 8 September, 2009 I can confirm that niceandfriendly is right deanoski is wrong
Nexstar Posted 8 September, 2009 Posted 8 September, 2009 When Holmes is fit he'll be swinging the balls in for Lambert/Waigo to slot home.
chrisobee Posted 8 September, 2009 Posted 8 September, 2009 Excellent news, chrisobee says he don't mind where we play him Just waiting on Jaidi now.
Hopkins Posted 8 September, 2009 Posted 8 September, 2009 He's a winger. Not a striker. This is fact. He's played most of his career on the wing and occasionally wing back. He can play upfront. I wouldn't be suprised if he does for us as he gives us some much needed pace, but who ever has said he's a striker is wrong. This comes from numerous Italian football fans and italians themselves.
Plumstead_Saint Posted 8 September, 2009 Posted 8 September, 2009 Don't care where he plays so long as i see him do his goal scoring celebration on Saturday
Jesus Reigned Posted 8 September, 2009 Posted 8 September, 2009 wow his legs are as thin as mine! Indeed, he makes me look fat, and that's saying something!!
Bailey Posted 8 September, 2009 Posted 8 September, 2009 Fantastic news that he's been given clearance by the Italian FA. Can't wait to see how he does for us on Saturday. I'd be tempted to just throw him in from the start and see how he does.
sussexsaint Posted 9 September, 2009 Posted 9 September, 2009 Why is the Jaidi permit taking so bloody long? I want to seeee the Waigo dance being done many many times, if he's fit then chuck him in at the deep end - the problem will be service - if he is a really good crosser of the ball then maybe play him on the wing to feed saga and lambert dunno we shall see
Window Cleaner Posted 9 September, 2009 Posted 9 September, 2009 if he is a really good crosser of the ball then maybe play him on the wing to feed saga and lambert dunno we shall see Provided we have the right midfield structure to feed Papa on the wing,he might just have a tendency to drift inside though. Still looking forward to his debut, hopefully with a win at Charlton to boot.
broncoboy Posted 9 September, 2009 Posted 9 September, 2009 Yipeeeeeeeeee Go Papa Go...................... Let's hope he is as good as his name and unveiling at St Marys
Glasgow_Saint Posted 9 September, 2009 Posted 9 September, 2009 Lets just refer to Papa as versatile? who really gives a rats ass if he's a winger or a striker.....long as he scores a minimum of 30 gaols a season he can call himself a defender for all I care.
Tac-tics Posted 9 September, 2009 Posted 9 September, 2009 wow his legs are as thin as mine! All in the thighs...
Tac-tics Posted 9 September, 2009 Posted 9 September, 2009 He's a winger. Not a striker. This is fact. He's played most of his career on the wing and occasionally wing back. He can play upfront. Sol Campbell and Wayne Bridge were 'strikers'
saints-cris Posted 9 September, 2009 Posted 9 September, 2009 As were Ashley Cole, Rio Ferdinand, Jamie Carragher and even Ben Foster til he was 17! Back on subject, jus seen on he Sky Sports infoba thingy that were hopeful of getting Jaidi cleared later this week. Hope to god its in time for Charlton!
Ya Barrrrrrr'd Posted 9 September, 2009 Posted 9 September, 2009 ANY SONGS FOR PAPA YET???? Think just after he scores there should be a massive chant of:- umm pa pa umm pa pa Waigo umm pa pa umm pa pa Waigo Think the song was from the musical oliver!!

How many of these numerous Italian football fans and Italians themselves are going to be picking the team on Saturday? Everything that's come out of the club, including Pardew's comments have indicated that Waigo is seen as a striker so it's perfectly reasonable to assume that that's where he's going to play.
Deanovski Posted 9 September, 2009 Posted 9 September, 2009 so if we play Jaidi upfront that makes him a striker?
damers Posted 9 September, 2009 Posted 9 September, 2009 Sky sports just said Saints hopeful of having Jaidi WP by the end of the week.

jam Posted 9 September, 2009 Posted 9 September, 2009 so if we play Jaidi upfront that makes him a striker? For that game yes. Did you laugh at Arsene Wenger when he player that winger that he signed from Juventus a few years back as a striker?
mcjwills Posted 9 September, 2009 Posted 9 September, 2009 ANY SONGS FOR PAPA YET???? Think just after he scores there should be a massive chant of:- umm pa pa umm pa pa Waigo umm pa pa umm pa pa Waigo Think the song was from the musical oliver!! Papa dont preach goal we gonna breach

westofshannonsaint Posted 9 September, 2009 Posted 9 September, 2009 Why is the Jaidi permit taking so bloody long? Sky sports just said Saints hopeful of having Jaidi WP by the end of the week. someone on here suggested that the hold up is due to Ramadan, I googled "Jaida Ramadan" at the time and it seemed to make sense . Ramadan is due to end this coming weekend. oh & great news about Waigo...
