sussexsaint Posted 8 September, 2009 Posted 8 September, 2009 Do you think the OS will bother reporting or will it just be a case of watching the team sheets come Saturday I would have hoped we'd have heard by now - how long can these things take?
Glasgow_Saint Posted 8 September, 2009 Posted 8 September, 2009 Jaiai - 10 days ( that was last Friday ) Waigo - should be done? waiting on Italy
Saint_clark Posted 8 September, 2009 Posted 8 September, 2009 Italian FA have had the paperwork for 7 days now.
sussexsaint Posted 8 September, 2009 Author Posted 8 September, 2009 Just want it sorted i thing Jaidi will makea big difference to the team IMHO and I am actually more excited about him joining than Waigo at the moment.
RedAndWhite91 Posted 8 September, 2009 Posted 8 September, 2009 My guess is Papa will be done in next few days and Jaidi will be 7 to 10 days.
Tac-tics Posted 8 September, 2009 Posted 8 September, 2009 The Italian FA done it to Poopey with Van Der Borren.
sussexsaint Posted 8 September, 2009 Author Posted 8 September, 2009 I thought they said 7-10 days for Jaidi on Tuesday/Wednesday last week Anyway at least they are here and in training by the sounds of it, things are never completely straightforwards for Saints though are they
Armitage Shanks Posted 8 September, 2009 Posted 8 September, 2009 I thought they said 7-10 days for Jaidi on Tuesday/Wednesday last week Anyway at least they are here and in training by the sounds of it, things are never completely straightforwards for Saints though are they I suspect that Jaidi needed some time to get fit anyway. Brum released him a while ago and therefore probably he will need some time anyway
CWD Posted 8 September, 2009 Posted 8 September, 2009 Hopefully will go through before saturday. Although i have to say the longer it goes on with Papa the more I worry, I mean what is holding it up? Cant help worrying this will be another ali dia like bizarre moment in saints history and he wont actually play! Although i am actually LOLing at my own negativity, too many years of supporting saints i guess!
Saint Martini Posted 8 September, 2009 Posted 8 September, 2009 Hopefully will go through before saturday. Although i have to say the longer it goes on with Papa the more I worry, I mean what is holding it up? Cant help worrying this will be another ali dia like bizarre moment in saints history and he wont actually play! Although i am actually LOLing at my own negativity, too many years of supporting saints i guess! That would be the Italian FA. Portsmouth had some problems with their slow handling of the Vanden Borre loan as well. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/p/portsmouth/8204973.stm
SAR Boy Saint Posted 8 September, 2009 Posted 8 September, 2009 I suspect that Jaidi needed some time to get fit anyway. Brum released him a while ago and therefore probably he will need some time anyway Thought he'd been training at Staplewood for most of that time, so he shouldn't be too far away from being fit.
sussexsaint Posted 8 September, 2009 Author Posted 8 September, 2009 Thought he'd been training at Staplewood for most of that time, so he shouldn't be too far away from being fit. According to some on here he has been training regularly for a while 'tis true
OttawaSaint Posted 8 September, 2009 Posted 8 September, 2009 They'll both be refused work permits...
Badger Posted 8 September, 2009 Posted 8 September, 2009 Just want it sorted i thing Jaidi will makea big difference to the team IMHO and I am actually more excited about him joining than Waigo at the moment. I've never seen Jaidi dance though.
a1ex2001 Posted 8 September, 2009 Posted 8 September, 2009 Hopefully will go through before saturday. Although i have to say the longer it goes on with Papa the more I worry, I mean what is holding it up? I'd be more woried about Jaidi seen as he's already been refused a permit once and I'm not sure what grounds we have for appeal.
Crowds Posted 8 September, 2009 Posted 8 September, 2009 Jaidi told the mrs yesterday it should be very soon. And as for Waigo just waiting on the italian FA?
surrey1saint Posted 8 September, 2009 Posted 8 September, 2009 They'll both be refused work permits... ?? Papa has his already!
merrimd Posted 8 September, 2009 Posted 8 September, 2009 I'd be more woried about Jaidi seen as he's already been refused a permit once and I'm not sure what grounds we have for appeal. Thinking back it seemed he was never refused a work permit, we never applied for it as it was thought at the time that it would fail. My reading of the situation, fwiw, is that we have consulted with employment lawyers who have told us how to get the permit through, and so have filled out the form and sent it off. Fingers crossed, but I would be incredibly suprised if we had signed him, knowing there may be a problem initially, without sorting that problem first.
sussexsaint Posted 8 September, 2009 Author Posted 8 September, 2009 I presume it all needs to be done and agreed by the FL by 12 pm day before
sussexsaint Posted 8 September, 2009 Author Posted 8 September, 2009 I'd be more woried about Jaidi seen as he's already been refused a permit once and I'm not sure what grounds we have for appeal. My understanding was that we didn't apply until after he was selected for the squad for a recent friendly that pushed him over the edge % wise for national appearances
kpturner Posted 8 September, 2009 Posted 8 September, 2009 I'd be more woried about Jaidi seen as he's already been refused a permit once and I'm not sure what grounds we have for appeal. How do you know this to be so? As far as I recall the club never did make an application for a work permit - they just came out with some wishy-washy guff about the potential for work permit problems (probably as a smoke screen to the real reasons for the delay in completing the deal).....last bit being pure speculation on my part don't you know.
The Incongruous Monk Posted 8 September, 2009 Posted 8 September, 2009 Papa's paperwork is done according to the clubs Twitter account.
Saints foreva Posted 8 September, 2009 Posted 8 September, 2009 I'd be more woried about Jaidi seen as he's already been refused a permit once and I'm not sure what grounds we have for appeal. We never applied for the permit in the first place. We must be confident of him getting one if we've signed him. Even if it failed we'd still have to pay him if he didn't agree on his contract being cut short.
Saint Charlie Posted 8 September, 2009 Posted 8 September, 2009 Now on OS. Papa can play straight away. Jaidi's clearance expected in next few days.
Saint_Ash Posted 8 September, 2009 Posted 8 September, 2009 Great news, bring him on in the last half hour against charlton.
Saint Charlie Posted 8 September, 2009 Posted 8 September, 2009 Great news, bring him on in the last half hour against charlton. No thanks. Start him up front alongside Lambert, where he won't have to defend and can just try to use his pace.
Wes Tender Posted 8 September, 2009 Posted 8 September, 2009 All this talk about work permits for Jaidi continues, but nobody has convinced me that he needs a work permit having been here for over five years. At that stage, he could apply for an Indefinite Leave to Remain Visa, as per the attached info on the Border and Immigration website. However, that states that if the ILR Visa is not applied for, then he would have to reapply using the new points based system. I wonder whether that is the problem. If he applied for the ILR, 75% of cases are settled within 4 working weeks. Again, that could be the delay accounted for. http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/workingintheuk/tier2/sportspeople/

Even if it failed we'd still have to pay him if he didn't agree on his contract being cut short. 'signed subject to clearance' was the wording, I believe.
Greedyfly Posted 10 September, 2009 Posted 10 September, 2009 http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/news/4590254.Jaidi_expected_to_make_Saints_debut_at_Charlton/ Could be sooner than expected.
alpine_saint Posted 10 September, 2009 Posted 10 September, 2009 Do we put Jaidi, Waigo and Holmes all in the team at the same time ? Could not be a bit too much disruption ? I reckon a couple of them may come off the sub's bench.
sussexsaint Posted 10 September, 2009 Author Posted 10 September, 2009 Wouldn't put homes in would put waigo and jaidi in and keep Mills
chrisobee Posted 10 September, 2009 Posted 10 September, 2009 Just be nice to get everything sorted as long as Jaidi is available asap. Whether he/Waigo play on Saturday or on the bench maybe still be nice to have as many players available as possible !
benjii Posted 10 September, 2009 Posted 10 September, 2009 Wouldn't put homes in would put waigo and jaidi in and keep Mills Yes, agree. No point rushing Holmes, he'll only get crocked. Mills on the left, Waigo on the right and Saga and Lambert up front please.
OldNick Posted 10 September, 2009 Posted 10 September, 2009 Do we put Jaidi, Waigo and Holmes all in the team at the same time ? Could not be a bit too much disruption ? I reckon a couple of them may come off the sub's bench. Thats correct. We havent seen Waigo play yet and perhaps expecting too much too soon.
Roger Posted 10 September, 2009 Posted 10 September, 2009 Do we put Jaidi, Waigo and Holmes all in the team at the same time ? Could not be a bit too much disruption ? I reckon a couple of them may come off the sub's bench. Well it aint going to make things worse than the last match. We were awful last week and need a change. I would play holmes as mills crossing was poor. Waigo needs to be upfront so teams cant play a high line against us.
alpine_saint Posted 10 September, 2009 Posted 10 September, 2009 Thats correct. Oh, I am sooo glad you agree, Nicky...
sambosa75 Posted 10 September, 2009 Posted 10 September, 2009 Do we put Jaidi, Waigo and Holmes all in the team at the same time ? Could not be a bit too much disruption ? I reckon a couple of them may come off the sub's bench. To be fair, its not as if they'd be breaking up a winning formula. I'd definitely go for Waigo and Jaidi providing they are fit enough. Whilst I'm at it, I liked the look of Holmes when he played last year as well. I think he'd be a better option than Mills seeing as we desperately need a win. My side at the moment providing every one is fit and firing on all cylinders would look something like; ------------------Davis---------------------- Murty-----Trotman-----Jaidi----------Harding --------------------------------------------- ----James-------Hammond-------Holmes------ --------------------------------------------- ------------------Lallana--------------------- --------------------------------------------- -----------Lambert-----Waigo--------------- Lallana is probably one of the most talented players in this division. It is no good nullifying him by playing him in a position he is "average" at or "can do a job" in. The team should be played around him. He's not an out and out forward and he's not a winger. Get him in the space behind the forwards and let him cause havoc. I reckon that team, in this division would win a lot more games than it would lose.
saints-cris Posted 10 September, 2009 Posted 10 September, 2009 brilliant, brilliant news. He's going to make such a difference.
opthomps Posted 10 September, 2009 Posted 10 September, 2009 our team on paper is now very good indeed, no excuses, jaidi has been training with us for a while so should slot in. Imagine if we could sneak a win at the valley, it would be sweet
southamptonfclegend Posted 10 September, 2009 Posted 10 September, 2009 Jaidi told the mrs yesterday it should be very soon. And as for Waigo just waiting on the italian FA? ITK?
