Michelle Posted 7 September, 2009 Posted 7 September, 2009 Following on from Jan's post on the main forum about tickets, got me thinking about re-calculating how many grounds I've visited. Know we had a thread about this on the old forum, seems a good place to keep a track on things. I'm currently on 59 of the 92, having lost a couple of the ones I've already visited out of the League in the past couple of years. However, by the end of the season I'll have that up to 72, potentially more dependent on cup fixtures. All of these are with Saints - not sure I could bring myself to go to a game as a neutral! How's everyone else doing for grounds visited?
ladysaint Posted 8 September, 2009 Posted 8 September, 2009 (edited) I must do all my grounds with Saints and only Saints so I can't count the Emirates as I did that with PSV. I am up to over 100 grounds now but count those overseas and those that no longer exist plus those I have been to for friendly matches. Have a few to do this season Carlisle, Hartlepool, MK Dons, Wallsall and Wycombe. Currently out of the 92 I have done 79 and by the end of the season 83 plus any that we may get in cup competitions. Need Wigan and Arsenal in the PL. Edited 9 September, 2009 by ladysaint
rich saints Posted 8 September, 2009 Posted 8 September, 2009 65 at moment 72 by end of season depending on cup draws. only 20 to go michelle then
Footballfan Posted 9 September, 2009 Posted 9 September, 2009 There is a good thing on Facebook where you can record all the grounds you have been too, I will see if I can find a link
oldsarum Posted 9 September, 2009 Posted 9 September, 2009 I'm on 77 now, but will be minimum of 81 by end of the season with visits to Hartlepool, Walsall (been to their old ground), Colchester (new ground, aging been to old one ) and MK Dons to look forward to. Especially looking forward to overnight stay for Hartlepool where I think we'll have a good turn out despite it being played on tuesday night, I know of loads of London Saints definately going.
Neil Posted 9 September, 2009 Posted 9 September, 2009 On 60 out of the 92 at the moment, should reach 70 by the end of the season, plus Cup draws. Probably giving the Withdean a miss (not a proper football ground anyway), will wait until we visit their new ground which is being built at the moment. Hartlepool should be a belter, looking forward to a good turn-out there.
Sour Mash Posted 9 September, 2009 Posted 9 September, 2009 Done 60ish out of the 92 and will be adding a few this season. To be honest I think it's near on impossible to do the 92 without doing some games as a neutral however long you try, especially with new grounds constantly being built.

Hey, if we carry on bombing down the leagues the way we have over the past few years, maybe not! I'll just need cup games at Arsenal, Wigan and Stockport, Cardiff and Swansea if we do!
saints_is_the_south Posted 10 September, 2009 Posted 10 September, 2009 44/92 so just under half. New ones this season for me are going to be Leeds & Gillingham.
RedAndWhite91 Posted 10 September, 2009 Posted 10 September, 2009 5/92 But make that 6 this Saturday, and hopefully I'll get a lot more under my belt this season.
bungle Posted 10 September, 2009 Posted 10 September, 2009 (edited) Counted the other day, I think it was 63 of the current 92 grounds, which I am pretty pleased with! Edited 27 October, 2009 by bungle Lunacy
Deppo Posted 10 September, 2009 Posted 10 September, 2009 Unlike you to be be pleased with yourself, bungle.
bungle Posted 10 September, 2009 Posted 10 September, 2009 Unlike you to be be pleased with yourself, bungle. No point continually beating myself up. Not in the physical sense, obviously. That would be stupid.
IFHP Posted 14 September, 2009 Posted 14 September, 2009 I have been to 74 of the current 92 grounds in the league. By the end of the season I should will have been to another 5 - Carlisle United, Colchester United, Hartlepool United, Milton Keynes Dons and Walsall. Could be more depending on cup draws.
Ponty Posted 15 September, 2009 Posted 15 September, 2009 I've done 91 out of the 92, just St Mary's to go. Seriously, it's in the twenties or thirties I'd imagine - without counting. I cannot imagine how much you guys have spent on travelling around following Saints. I'm pretty sure you don't like to think about it too much though.
ladysaint Posted 15 September, 2009 Posted 15 September, 2009 It gets frightening when you count up how many times you have seen Saints play home, away, friendlies etc., I think I lost count when I passed the 1,000 mark.
Block 5 Posted 15 September, 2009 Posted 15 September, 2009 Only done 28 of the current 92. By the end of the season that should be up to 40.
Iowsaintsfan Posted 18 September, 2009 Posted 18 September, 2009 28 / 92 plan on doing a few this season to top that up though
eurosaint Posted 18 September, 2009 Posted 18 September, 2009 Did this for a laugh as I don't really go to away games these days ! Got 23 / 92 which wasn't too bad, but I also discovered that I've not been to a single League 2 ground, which is a record I'd like to maintain !!
stevegrant Posted 18 September, 2009 Posted 18 September, 2009 Currently done 64, will have done at least another 9 by the end of the season, possibly more depending on cup draws.
ericofarabia Posted 18 September, 2009 Posted 18 September, 2009 46 different league grounds plus The Real Wembley, all bar one (crewe) to see Saints matches. However of the current league clubs, 11 were visits to their old grounds, (Saints and Leicester are the only teams I've been to the old and new grounds). 4 teams are no longer in the league Luton, Oxford (Manor Ground), Wimbledon (Plough Lane) and Newport County (Sommerton Park) Which only leaves me with a poor 31 of the current grounds, 11 grounds no longer in existence and 4 teams no longer in the league.
HopperSaint Posted 18 September, 2009 Posted 18 September, 2009 55 current grounds for me despite doing this away lark for over 15 years (lost the likes of Rotherham, Colchester, Cardiff, Arsenal recently). Have what I call 'doubles' too where been to both the old and new grounds (Derby, Leicester, Coventry, Reading, Man City, Sunderland and Bolton spring to mind!). Been great fun.......wouldn't change a thing!!
rich saints Posted 20 September, 2009 Posted 20 September, 2009 carlise next week another new ground mate good to see yourr first post
Arizona Posted 1 October, 2009 Posted 1 October, 2009 Scunny Hull Charlton Reading Notts Forest Swindon So 6, hope to get that up to 12-15 by the end of the season, starting at Southend.
Andy_Porter Posted 1 October, 2009 Posted 1 October, 2009 I've done 27 so far. Not all of them have been to watch Saints though, went to Anfield to watch my mate play for Havant in their cup run, wasn't fun being sat around a bunch of skates. Southend, Oldham, Orient and Chelsea all getting ticked off this month.
Ash Posted 2 October, 2009 Posted 2 October, 2009 Scunny Hull Charlton Reading Notts Forest Swindon So 6, hope to get that up to 12-15 by the end of the season, starting at Southend. Southampton is a pretty decent day out, you should give it a go.
stkev7 Posted 2 October, 2009 Posted 2 October, 2009 71 out of the 92 Gutted to have missed both Huddersfield and Stockport this season due to working abroad. Along with missing the likes of Tranmere, Exeter and MK Dons for the same reason later on in the season.
Mark Posted 2 October, 2009 Posted 2 October, 2009 I've done 78 grounds with Saints… 57 league grounds 3 conference grounds 13 old grounds 2 Scottish grounds (pre-season friendlies) 1 european ground 2 national stadiums (Wembley and Millennium Stadium)
oldsarum Posted 2 October, 2009 Posted 2 October, 2009 I've done 78 grounds with Saints… 57 league grounds 3 conference grounds 13 old grounds 2 Scottish grounds (pre-season friendlies) 1 european ground 2 national stadiums (Wembley and Millennium Stadium) I've seen Saints at the following 76 current league grounds 5 current conference grounds 20 old league grounds (Bristol Rovers x 2) 2 old conference grounds (Oxford Utd. and Wimbledon when at Plough Lane) 2 Scottish grounds (pre-season friendlies) 5 european grounds in Uefa Cup 2 european (Major teams) grounds in friendlies 2 national stadiums (Wembley and Millennium Stadium + Scarborough (in the League Cup twice), but they are now way down the non league ladder
bigtonesfc Posted 4 October, 2009 Posted 4 October, 2009 http://apps.facebook.com/footballgrounds/ I have 55 to my name inluding 1 Europe
Wilko Posted 13 October, 2009 Posted 13 October, 2009 I set up this amazing account at this amazing website. http://www.footballgroundmap.com/wilko I'm so cool. The answer is 32 out of 92 (plus Maine Road and Ninian Park). Slow and steady.
stevegrant Posted 13 October, 2009 Posted 13 October, 2009 http://www.footballgroundmap.com/stevegrant
SaintDonkey Posted 13 October, 2009 Posted 13 October, 2009 32 grounds visited, only 22 count for the 92 club though.
West End Saint Posted 13 October, 2009 Posted 13 October, 2009 I have done 27 current league grounds & 38 when you include old grounds national stadiums & grounds abroad. I am going to give doing all 92 a bash but it is slow & steady for me. massive respect to those on here with 50 + grounds that is a cracking effort & fair play to those that have done or are going to do them all
RonManager Posted 13 October, 2009 Posted 13 October, 2009 http://www.footballgroundmap.com/ronmanager :smt041 34 (35 on Saturday)
Michelle Posted 13 October, 2009 Author Posted 13 October, 2009 Latest, as I appear to have miscalculated my original number: http://www.footballgroundmap.com/saintmich82 So, 62 so far, with at least another 9 to come this season starting this Saturday, will be on at least 71 by the end of the season - though saying that, I believe Southend are getting their new ground next year, so that'll drop back down to 70. Bloody hard work keeping up with these new grounds - frustrating when you've done a club's ground, only for them to move a couple of years afterwards - lost at least 3 just through that factor!
RedAndWhite91 Posted 13 October, 2009 Posted 13 October, 2009 Getting there... http://www.footballgroundmap.com/redandwhite91/grounds I've only started my away game journey this season. I've seen Saints at 9 different grounds excluding St. Mary's and the Dell. England u.19's at Dean Court and England u.21's at the old Wembley. Slowly but surely.
Gigersaint Posted 17 October, 2009 Posted 17 October, 2009 Currently not too many for me, hopefully will take in several more away games over the next few seasons. Once the kids are grown up and I have more time and money I will be going to far more to make up and get started proper on the 92. http://www.footballgroundmap.com/gigersaint
RonManager Posted 27 October, 2009 Posted 27 October, 2009 http://www.footballgroundmap.com/ronmanager :smt041 34 (35 on Saturday) 35 (36 on Saturday).
Chez Posted 27 October, 2009 Posted 27 October, 2009 just 58 for me. Far too many trips to Villa Park and very few trips to League 2 sides.
saintjinksie Posted 27 October, 2009 Posted 27 October, 2009 37 current league 3 now non existent 1 non league old wembley + millenium stadium
RonManager Posted 27 October, 2009 Posted 27 October, 2009 I did walk round the remains of Bradford PA's ground back in the 80s. It was a freezing cold, wet grey day between Xmas and New Year. We were quite drunk and I was carrying a tape recorder playing Joy Division inside my jacket, which gave the experience a very sad yet strangely romantic feel and marked it indelibly on my mind.
knellster Posted 3 November, 2009 Posted 3 November, 2009 When Shrewsbury made the play offs I went to their home game to complete the 92. Of those 74 have been with Saints and there will be 3 more this season. Also seen Saints at 3 grounds that no longer exist, but hopefully I'll get Arsenal back when we get back to the Prem!
UniS Posted 3 November, 2009 Posted 3 November, 2009 I apparently have 44, of which only 17 are current Football League sides.
