OldNick Posted 7 September, 2009 Posted 7 September, 2009 Luton were at Salisbury on saturday and it came from their end we tried to buy Tom Craddock their forward a fortnight ago. 700k but it fell through. Not sure why, he is well upset it didnt happen apparently.
Toomer Posted 7 September, 2009 Posted 7 September, 2009 And Fanny will come as well, to take over the catering.
John B Posted 7 September, 2009 Posted 7 September, 2009 And Fanny will come as well, to take over the catering. Dont think so Died December 27, 1994 (aged 85) Ersham House Hailsham, East Sussex, England

How did he get on anyway?
OldNick Posted 7 September, 2009 Author Posted 7 September, 2009 What were they doing then - chanting some long-winded ditty about it? How did he get on anyway? I didnt go to that game , but i do get news from that direction at times
Bailey Posted 7 September, 2009 Posted 7 September, 2009 Would that be a transfer record for a non-league player? I think you could be right. George Boyd cost Peterborough 250K when he signed from Stevenage, and that was a record at the time. Not sure if that's been broken since though.
krissyboy31 Posted 7 September, 2009 Posted 7 September, 2009 I'm sure I read a quote attributed to AP, who said we tried to sign of conference player but it fell through. I thought at the time it was possibly Craddock and therefore this is probably true. As said above, we may go back in January unless of course, there is some reason (possibly medical) that we pulled out of the deal.
saint_ben Posted 7 September, 2009 Posted 7 September, 2009 how much did we give kings lynn for mark paul? I remember it was a then record fee for them back in 98
SaintRichmond Posted 7 September, 2009 Posted 7 September, 2009 And Fanny will come as well, to take over the catering. IMHO, That would truly be a Recipe for disater ..........
J Bizzle Posted 7 September, 2009 Posted 7 September, 2009 If Pardew wants him that much, he'll get him on loan with a view to buy this week.
kpturner Posted 7 September, 2009 Posted 7 September, 2009 If Pardew wants him that much, he'll get him on loan with a view to buy this week.Aren't you making a very large assumption there? Maybe Luton don't want to sell him, and I very much doubt that they would want to send their star man out on loan.
S-Clarke Posted 7 September, 2009 Posted 7 September, 2009 If Pardew wants him that much, he'll get him on loan with a view to buy this week. ITK ? this is how wolves got kightly fwiw

I dont know why it failed .Could it be that the gregorz bid was held up and so thye pulled out of the deal as it did not give them a chance ot get a replacement in time???

Maybe Luton don't want to sell him, and I very much doubt that they would want to send their star man out on loan. A nice lump sum of say £200k followed by another £500k in January would be very appealing to any team in our league let alone the conference.
krissyboy31 Posted 7 September, 2009 Posted 7 September, 2009 A nice lump sum of say £200k followed by another £500k in January would be very appealing to any team in our league let alone the conference. Those sort of deals are not allowed outside the transfer window!!
S-Clarke Posted 7 September, 2009 Posted 7 September, 2009 Those sort of deals are not allowed outside the transfer window!! I think you can? kind of like a gentlemans agreement between the clubs. Not sure if its changed, but Wolves did this sort of deal for Kightly a few years back. 3 month loan with an option to buy in jan iirc.

Scummer Posted 7 September, 2009 Posted 7 September, 2009 Yes but no money can change hands. What about loan fees? Loads of clubs charge for their players to go out on loan?
kpturner Posted 7 September, 2009 Posted 7 September, 2009 I tried to buy haddock. http://www.thefishsociety.co.uk/fish-shop_byname_Haddock_0_4.html?gclid=CO-Y-8ap35wCFZkA4woduldDJQ

OldNick Posted 7 September, 2009 Author Posted 7 September, 2009 This whole thread seems a bit fishy to me. on what scale do you rate it then?
krissyboy31 Posted 7 September, 2009 Posted 7 September, 2009 This whole thread seems a bit fishy to me. I think you've got a chip on your shoulder!
Pilchards Posted 7 September, 2009 Posted 7 September, 2009 on what scale do you rate it then? Haha this thread is making me masterbait [Dont worry I will put the straight jacket on myself]
saint_ben Posted 7 September, 2009 Posted 7 September, 2009 mark paul was a striker that dave jones brought back in the 1998-99 summer from kings lynn! At the time it was lynn/ record fee paid for one of there players! Jus cant remember how much we paid for him! Only spent a year at saints i think
Clifford Nelson Posted 7 September, 2009 Posted 7 September, 2009 Apart from all the wonderful wittyness it seems rather odd to me that a team which has gotten into Administration is turning down £700K?!
oldsarum Posted 7 September, 2009 Posted 7 September, 2009 Apart from all the wonderful wittyness it seems rather odd to me that a team which has gotten into Administration is turning down £700K?! didn't realise Luton were still in Administration !
OldNick Posted 7 September, 2009 Author Posted 7 September, 2009 Apart from all the wonderful wittyness it seems rather odd to me that a team which has gotten into Administration is turning down £700K?! They are not now in admin and we also do not know why the deal fell through. Luton are pushing for promotion back into the league and so may just think that keeping the forward may be the difference. As i said i dont know why it didnt come off.
DT Posted 7 September, 2009 Posted 7 September, 2009 But do we want their cast-offs? I mean, shouldn't we cast the net wider? (arf)
OldNick Posted 7 September, 2009 Author Posted 7 September, 2009 But do we want their cast-offs? I mean, shouldn't we cast the net wider? (arf) oh very clever, yes we should try nad get Shoal Ambeobi

Only spent a year at saints i think http://www.ex-canaries.co.uk/players/paul.htm "an untapped Michael Owen because of the way he finishes and the fact that he's very quick and very direct. " btw that's an amazing site, the guy must have incredible dedication to Norwich to have an up to date biography of a player who only ever had a trial at the canaries!
EBS1980 Posted 7 September, 2009 Posted 7 September, 2009 There is no way a conference club would turn down £700K for one of their players. Pure madness.
SaintRichmond Posted 7 September, 2009 Posted 7 September, 2009 cod almighty. I hope you're not a Skate ???
kpturner Posted 7 September, 2009 Posted 7 September, 2009 oh very clever, yes we should try nad get Shoal Ambeobi "Shoal" = clever ;-) "Ambeobi" = typo  Maybe Shoal ImaGoby
Verbal Posted 7 September, 2009 Posted 7 September, 2009 So are we going to snapper him up in Jan? Stop it. Stop it. Stop it.
