Listen, we all support the team.

You have to realise though that we are in danger of falling so far behind by Xmas if we don't start performing, then we have another relegation battle.

The players (by that I mean Lallana,Mellis,Paterson,Gobern,Thomson) - i.e the ones who were shown to be out of their depth last season, are NOT the ones we should be relying on to improve things.

IT'S NOT THEIR FAULT - LAST SEASON RUINED THEIR DEVELOPMENT.

My solution to this is to bring in more experience, leave Lallana et al on the bench to surprise teams and give us options. Because at the moment we are one dimensional, our subs don't improve things and we have to ask, why?

The loan market COULD be our saviour.

However, just because I don't buy the 'wait and we'll be ok' routine, doesn't make me negative - the players have to pull their fingers out their belly buttons and get grafting - otherwise we'll have the best ground, and training facilities in L2....

and that doesn't bear thinking about.

Agree with all of that. The responsibility does lie with the players, not Pardew, as others have said. We do need to get behind them though. They'll be much more inclined to get grafting if they know we're all spurring them on.

With all due respect you started a thread slating Wotte and saying we shouldn't support him a fortnight after he was in charge, so isn't it a biot rich starting a thread now and having a pop?????

No one is calling for Pardew's head but I am not surprised by the over sensitive reaction from the usual happy clappy mongs to a bit of criticism. I distinctly remember Legod saying "give Poortvliet and the kids a chance they will come good" - that ended up getting us relegated.

Facts are we will probably need at least 56 points from our next 40 games to avoid relegation, if we don't start winning in 4 or 5 games we will need play-off form to avoid being in division 4 next year. Given that we are currently the worst side bar one in the league, I find that very worrying.

And if any of you plumbs still think we have even a slight chance of promotion, forget it, we dont. The side finishing in 6th last year had 76 points. Which means we will probably need at least 82 points from our next 40 games to get in the play-offs - that would mean showing the same form as Leicester did last year.

Ah, I forgot Pardew has been here for 30 games working as an integral part of "a management duo"...

How can you compare the two?

Do me a favour.

so its still achieveable then?

big concern for me is that the back 4 and front 2 are sorted , AP knows who they are

but other than Hammond i believe the other 3 midfield places are up for grabs and imo there are no obvious occupants for those places,

Gillett. Morgan, Whotton, Thompson.Nellis, Lalana,Gobern. James,Holmes(reputation growing every week he misses) it is the key just hope AP gets it right

I quite agree that Wotte was as complicit as Poortvliet in the fck fest that was the 08/09 season, but given your opposition to Wotte and withdrawal of support, the irony that your OP (exchanging Wotte for Pardew) could so easily have been aimed at you six months ago was not lost on me.

After all, whilst you are asking people to go away for two years, you yourself are allowed to withdraw your support after 6 months of a season.

What I expect I said was that the team should be supported and not booed from the stands - my opinion does not change on that. Anyone who thinks public criticism and humiliation helps young professional sportsmen is insane.

I expect I also wanted JP to be given a fair crack of the whip. He was, he failed. That did not lead us to relegation per se.

Appointing him and then compounding it by denying him Saga, John, Skacel etc certainly did. As did then appointing the bloke appointed with him.

My supporting the manager in no way contributed to our relegation.

But let's set that aside.

How the fecking hell can you compare last season with this??

Sure we're all worried. What should we do?

I did what I thought I could to help. It didn't work.

I just don't like

(a) the hypocrisy whereby you were allowed to slate Wotte 6 months in, yet you are now demanding a two year period from posters on this board, and

(b) how you naively assume that just because people have been underwhelmed by some players/performances/results then they must therefore automatically be aginst the new regime or that they cannot accept we're in a rebuilding process.

As for JP's fair crack of the whip - that's what sent us down. there was nothing wrong with criticising Poortvleit then just like there is nothing wrong with questioning Pardew now.

Burying your head in the sand doesn't help anyone. Pardew's appointment is similar to Burley's in that he has come here with a big reputation, there is always a risk he will go the same way as Burley. A busted flush with no motivation having had his time in the sun.

Burley was under no pressure at all, as soon as Crouch came in and said his job was safe it gave him license to spend the rest of the season propping up the bar at the De Vere. If Pardew is here for the pay cheque and not to work his ass off, he might as well leave now. I'm not saying that's the case but there is a chance it could be.

I can only speak for myself, but despite the results (which haven't been good) i'm enjoying my football more now than i have done for years.

Prior to Mr Liebherr arriving SFC was all about providing Rupert Lowe with a personal ego trip/personal piggy bank. Now we're a club where i feel my contribution in attending is deserved by the club and that the owner of the club is giving more than he's taking. OK many will pick holes in how i feel but that's how it is for me and i'm enjoying being part of this new era. I may only contribute a small amount but i'm pleased to be doing my small bit and feel that it's appreciated for the right reasons.

Those who are now moaning about results just don't seem to get it, but hey that's their look out. I'm happy and none of the doom merchants on here are going to stop me enjoying the journey.

SFC is a club on the up. It's not going to happen overnight but Mr Liebherr and his family are here for the long haul and that fills me with optimism.

Keep the faith, chill, and enjoy it. That is what it's all about.

the bigger picture is.......no win in 6 no excuses now..

other teams have not even half of what we have...I think pardew is a good manager..but getting worried and time to deliver..other teams seem to win and do so with make shift squads and no money..

I dont subscribe to "we have a club to support" as apparently this was all part of the plan in going into admin to get rupert out..

time to deliver...or pardew will be fired..simple as that really

Jeez, already? Nice to give the bloke time. He hasn't even played his team yet. If things are still rubbish Christmas you might have a point, but right now, you don't.

I agree with everything you say. Which is why I don't consider it burying my head.

You have to enjoy the fact that we have a club - because the alternative which was nearly upon us, was nothing to moan about!!!

Questioning Pardew after six games though? Really? You could be right, he could be here for nothing more than a fat pay cheque.

What has anyone seen that suggests he doesn't know what he is doing?

Everything wrong over the past three/four years it seems he's started to put right, from where I sit.

And yet people (yes, they have not imagination, not hallucination) are talking about giving him five more games...

It's hysterical.

We need to survive this season and get better.

I personally see nothing in this league to believe that with the right balance in the squad we could still not challenge for a play-off place with a bit of luck.

But all those people who said they understood it would take time, that rebuilding would not be easy. Well, their patience ran out pretty fecking quick!!!

They are voicing displeasure at the key in our rebuilding process - the manager. How can that be remotely supportive of the rebuilding process? Answer, it isn't.

If you believe that we are rebuilding you have to support the bloke tasked with doing it.

Otherwise we are not rebuilding are we? We're still fecking demolishing. And that's all we've done for six years!!!!!!

I'm afraid to say that I find your OP rather hysterical and your assumption that just because people aren't too pleased about our poor start then they mist therefore be against the regime's rebuilding process as rather hysterical as well.

The idea that just because people are giving their own opinion on the tactics and performances of the manager and players it automatically translates in to being non supportive is also somewhat hysterical.

I fully support Pardew and I fully support the new regimes efforts in taking us forward, but I don't rate Paterson, think Saturday's performance was poor and think the start of 3 points from 6 games is not good enough.

All the negativity over the last few years has got us nowhere. I see above someone still is having a pop at a previous manager who has the highest win ration of any of our managers. With that attitude some fans here get exactly what they deserve. GOd knows why anyone would want to come and manage this club. Pardew has been here 5 minutes and is still in the process of rebuilding and already some cyber jockeys are slagging him off. Some fans booed yesterday. Really helpful. FFS grow up and get behind the club. At least we still have one to support.

In which case perhaps you should be sending your pontificating OP via a PM to those people who you think fall into the category (and save us all from your sweeping accusations).

You should identify exactly who you think should be barred from commenting on the manager/team for 2 years (although of course it's OK for you to do the same some 18 months earlier;)).

"There are clearly some people"... yeah fecking sweeping that, falls right into the category of sweeping...

And if you couldn't read the tongue-in-cheek nature of proposing those 'some people' move to outer Mongolia...

I thought Wotte should have been given the job for a few months and if results were poor he could be moved out.

Now there is no room to monouvere it would plainly be stupid to sack Pardew.

I think it would be a good idea to get somebody in for a month to help him like Hampshire did with Duncan Fletcher.

The usual hilarious comment again,he is gone,he was terrible get over it.

I suppose you will be telling us we should have kept Lowe on next...

There are plenty of people saying similar things on here, which is fair enough, but nobody seems to be prepared to say how long they would give the new regime before they say enough is enough.

Just out of interest, how long do you think we can go without a win before you would say lets rebuild with a different manager?

We're at six games without a win, so eight, ten, fifteen, twenty-five? Or are you that 'evangelical' that you would never dare complain?

That is a fecking hard question isn't it?

What about Charlton? Who would have supported Parkinson for 20 odd games without a win?

Personally, I would be livid if we don't win within the next three weeks!!

When would I ask for Pardew to go? By Xmas should be long enough for any manager to be judged.

But if he hasn't won by then he'll be fired anyway!! Long gone in fact.

I agree with the sentiments of the OP, even if he has be hijacked into a completely different arguement.

The team are improving and ANY manager will pick a player (or players) that some people don't see as "good enough"..

The point being made (I think), is that at this tender stage of th season, with so few games played, a whole new structure being implemented through the club and with a blend of exprience and youth that is looking more balanced and creative than we have seen for some condierable time....... BOOING at the final whistle is only going to have a detrimental effect on the whole squad. FULL STOP.

Yes, there will come a time when Pardew and the coaching staff will be judged on the return of points gained. That time is not now, surely?

If the fans could just resist the knee-jerk reaction to boo when we haven't met an expectation, perhaps the lads will grow in confidence from an improved performance? Just maybe?

Does anyone really think they left the pitch thinking any of the following?:

1) The booing will make me play better next week

2) We played crap today and deserved to be booed from the pitch

or perhaps they left the pitch thinking:

3) We outplayed one of the form teams in the league.

4) If only we'd got one goal, the floodgates would've opened

5) Just a little bit of luck and some decent decisions from the officials and we'd be on our way with our first 3 point haul

The players may be overpaid and appear to be "prima donnas", but they hurt when we don't win games. They hurt all the more when we were by far the better team and fail to get the decisions from the officials.

Booing them at the end of such a match is counter-productive and will only stall any progress made.

Just my opinion, of course!

;-)

to be honest I dont think we have to worry if pards doesnt deliver markus/nicola will make the right decisions, at the end of the day, they brought saints, have spent some money, and seem like a cool outfit, they arent gonna do all that for nothing, they are expectant like the rest of us, so i have faith in the management to step in if deemed necessary ..

Six games into a season and seeing genuine improvement - or did noone notice our defence yesterday, the most solid it has been for years??

Fans are entitled to express any opinion.

But all that the expectation is doing is creating anxiety in the beholder. And when this translates to the pitch we go direct...

der...

**** me we could have played without a defence yesterday... It would have been a better question to ask whether anyone noticed the opposition attack yesterday?? Apart from nearly getting undone deep at the end of the first half.

To be fair most of the fans are encouraging the players not to go direct??? So not quite sure how that translates to the pitch with us going direct???? Surely as a Pro you should be able to switch off from the fans and follow instructions from the gaffer???? Going direct is not the way ..... it is pace and width that scares people. James, thomson, llallana and Mills all want ****ging for not getting past their man and getting to the line..... the one time we did it, it caused mayhem but no one was gambling and running in.

I know we are building a new era but detaching ourselves from reality and clapping them off and cheering a boring nil - nil draw against a side playing with ten men for fifty odd minutes, will do nothing but allow them to have their ego's dusted - Let them go away this week knowing that what they dished up yesterday was ****e and prove us all wrong from now on!!!

We did n't create enough chances ands we were certainly very poor at converting any we created. We have been here before with wrapping the yoof up and all knowing we are going to "wallop someteam soon" - well I can't remember us walloping anyone for a couple of seasons and am fed up with hearing about it - stop talking about and get out there and ****ing 2wallop charlton"... and then lets "****ing Wallop Yeovil"..... get it!

But your post is typical of the short sightedness I so often see on this board; "if you don't see it my way, you're wrong and should go away".

Like anyone else I respect your right to express that opinion, just don't expect to receive universal acclaim for holding that position. Try another attitude: Live and let live.

Absolutely.

As was shown on another thread, there is no groundswell of opinion seeking to remove Pardew, nor is there any evidence of widespread criticism of the new regime, but that doesn't mean we can't be disappointed at our poor start or the performance of players or the team as a whole, nor that we shouldn't voice our opinions on our poor start.

A great OP. i felt saddened that fans cheered when Patterson was subbed.Yes he should have scored and nearly did so, but he gave his best .He has hardly played many games.

The team looked far better prepared and linked quite well. The real problem is we dont have any pace.Their full back was quick and Thompson was given a 5 yard start and he was still caught.AP knows this and is trying to address that.

We are a depleted squad and only now ids there any decent playrs being added.I like the progress but am frustrated at the lack of additions to our poor squad that was left after admin. Lambert is left to forge his own furrow and tried to set up a few chances whn he could.

Sadly we dont have any instinctive players in front of goal.

I havn't read one post which is asking for Pardew to be sacked now you melodramatic tit.

I haven't seen anyone saying they want AP out, ANYWHERE on this forum. And i been on a lot being off work in the last 10days or so.

3 pages on here, without reading them and just by going by the OP and a few posts on page 3, this is an anti-negativity, applaud everything and be grateful we still have a club to support thread?

Pretty much. Puts the 'St' in Stalin. Thou shalt not say anything naughty or against the cause. Or you must go away/are a 'negative' person/don't believe in sports psychology mumbo jumbo/are not a Christian (tongue in cheek, this one)/are not Sir Clive Woodward/have not fully recognised how far adrift we are already.

For what it's worth, I am getting a bit worried, but think that this is a pretty over the top reaction to NOT LOSING against one of the division's better sides. And that results will come soon. I blooming hope. Not expecting much against Charlton though.

Don't fall into the trap, that some of the Trolls on here have set. Anyone can voice an opinion.........but some are on every thread, running the team/manager/owner/chairman.....and other fans down. I reserve the right of reply to this, and for that, I get labelled a happy clapper by said Trolls.

Who is running down the manager, the owner or the chairman?

Who, and on what threads (apparently "every thread", but I haven't read anything of the sort).

I think the only trolling going on is from you, making things up and then getting upset about them.

As for running the team down, well zero wins in six league one games, I think they deserve it.

And as for running down other fans, being that the likes of you are just making stuff up and then moaning about it, why not? You're clearly bonkers.

No-one is expecting miracles.

Pardew is crafting his side - however you have to be in cloud cuckoo land to think that our youngsters from last season are good enough.

Apart from James, who came on leaps and bounds, the rest have gone miles backwards.

Sorry if that's seen as negative but it's the truth - you can keep positive till we are miles away from safety at Xmas if you like.

We've been here before, under Burley 'We're going to stonk someone soon', 'It's coming together'...all bollix.

I'd rather play Wotton or Gillett than Lallana...he's becoming one of the most over-rated players we've had for years.

Oh sorry, not allowed to criticise are we?

But considering that we are in a league with a lower talent threshold required than last year, isn't it a bit difficult to say that they were crap last year so this year they wont cut the mustard? Surley they would have to advance further to be CC quality than L1 quality?

And how can you throw the 'Can't Use the youngsters' card at AP as he has shown that he is bringing in players to fill the gaps, including some older heads?

Comparing apples and bananas, is my feeling.
