Thedelldays Posted 6 September, 2009 Posted 6 September, 2009 We're doing as badly as John Barnes' Tranmere team, and everyone knew Barnes was going to be an abject failure before a ball was even kicked. And Tranmere haven't spent a million pounds on a midfielder, a million pounds on the best striker in the league last season, and have a million pound keeper and million pound defender already at the club, plus internationals, plus players rated at six figure sums that we can afford to turn down. Oh, and managed by the best paid manager in the division who has had his way with player ins and outs and his hand picked backroom staff and the biggest feel good factor at the club since the cup final. Zero wins in six in those circumstances cannot be patronising compared to Leonardo putting together a masterpiece and the plebs slagging it off. Zero wins in six. Get over yourself. as always....brilliantly said
Jonnyboy Posted 6 September, 2009 Posted 6 September, 2009 There are clearly some people who canot cope with being bought by a billionnaire and watching their entire football club being rebuilt from the ground up. New Manager, New Scouting Network, All New Coaches, Entirely New Playing Squad. So here is my message to you. Go Away. Go Far Away. So Far Away that you cannot access football results. Try Mongolia, the centre of it. Then stay there. For a year or two. Then come back. And all the hard work will be done. And you can bask in it, While the rest of us have endured it with good grace. Without booing it, without slating it and without jeopardising it. Thanks. Top post

aintforever Posted 6 September, 2009 Posted 6 September, 2009 So did you think the same last year when JP was in charge Yes, he said the same patronising crap then.
Whitey Grandad Posted 6 September, 2009 Posted 6 September, 2009 I firmly believe that we must now stick with Pardew through at least two seasons and that may very well mean a spell in League 2. What I cannot accept is that we are not allowed to critcise or comment on performances or players and that we should follow the team like a herd of sheep. It is quite apparent that the coaching team at Saints have not been preparing the youngsters properly in the basic footballing disciplines of holding your position, staying onside, finding space, working the opposition, striking the ball cleanly, tracking back, getting to the goal-line before crossing, marking at set-pieces and so on. Of course it is going to take time to rebuild the club from the bottom up, but part of the rebuilding involves constructive criticism from those who have had to suffer the last few seasons.
Guest Dark Sotonic Mills Posted 6 September, 2009 Posted 6 September, 2009 Six games into a season and seeing genuine improvement - or did noone notice our defence yesterday, the most solid it has been for years?? we had a couple of slight hiccups at rb from time to time, definatly the strongest defence in a long time, add jaidi and murty and not much is going to get past them

Agreed but most of the criticism is not constructive and usually way OTT. For sure booing could hardly be called constructive though I suspect a few on here might find a reason for suggesting it is !
St Marco Posted 6 September, 2009 Posted 6 September, 2009 Great post and think the vast majority will agree. At the end of the day most clubs have the moaning group that we have so we are not the only ones. What makes me laugh is that normally these people who care so much and feel so pasionate about the club are normally people who actually never go and watch the games or actually contribute to the club itself. They know more then those who are there and more then those who are employed at the clubs. They should be put in charge because they would obviously do so much better. The whole quick fix mentality which has taken over these people is a cancer that must be removed. I hope Fifa do bring in the manager window that is mentioned as it will teach these people that you can't keep changing and hope to have success instantly. Look at the clubs in England who do well, all teams who have had to be built over time with a manager. As others have mentioned we have been on the slide since 2003, 6 years. Just coming out of admin only a month ago with a squad that was awful the season before. Because we have not won a game it simply must be down to the manager, and by sacking him will mean we will get in someone who will take us on a run of 3 million games and no loses. This is how silly those people sound because basically that is what they are saying. These idiots actually believe that someone could of come in and turned this club around in the space of 6 games without having a pre-season and a squad that was up until the 3rd game, ****. The other thing that makes me laugh is these people use Charlton as the example. What they fail to mention is that Parkinson has been in charge of Charlton since november 28th of 08 and in his 28 games in charge he has won just 4 games, that 1st win coming 3 months after his 1st game, a win ratio of just 14%, is that something we should be looking for? So to try and compare it to Charlton is stupid because the guy in charge has been there for 10 months and has changed a lot of the squad. He built his team with the purpose of playing in league one, it took him 10 months to do that. We on the other hand have just come out of admin with no plan,no staff, crap players and so on. In 9 months time when Pardew has had the same amount of time then compare the two. But after just 6 games again is just silly. So it is hard to take those people serious. They say they are entitled to their opinion and it should be heard, but be honest about it and give some alternatives, don't moan for the sake of moaning. What ****es me off is that it is always the same people, like they are hoping we fail just so they can moan and say "we were right, we told you all along we were going to be ****" etc etc. When the reality is even if Pardew walked away or was fired and we brought in someone else they would say the same thing again and again. So some people need to take a long hard look at themseleves and ask why do they support Saints? It has been a longtime since we were in the prem league, a longtime since we had a winning team. In that time we have tried changing the manager like 8 times and it has got us nowhere. Maybe you should as mentioned in the OP just not bother to listen on the radio anymore and maybe look back in a few years time when things have improved, because it won't happen over night, and to expect it to just sets yourself up for dissapointment. We have done your methods time and time again and it has done nothing. We need to build a team, it will take time, a longtime. If you can't handle that then don't listen on the radio, your feel much better for it.
Thedelldays Posted 6 September, 2009 Posted 6 September, 2009 St Marco people are worried as because we have been utter tripe for years and it still continues people told this time last season (i was one) that "get behind the team ffs" and all the patronising guff that has been written in this thread....done wonders im not saying we should be doom or gloom or happy clappy...maybe just respect that some will share differing opinions without talking down to them...

The defence is stronger, we have options in midfield and now strikers. Yes, respect those with differing opinions if those opinions are backed up with fact not just band wagon jumping. (not including you in that, just a few on here that do)

St Will Posted 6 September, 2009 Posted 6 September, 2009 The world is going to end.....whatever will we do if our team loses again. Let's all slit our wrists and end it all.
Thedelldays Posted 6 September, 2009 Posted 6 September, 2009 The world is going to end.....whatever will we do if our team loses again. Let's all slit our wrists and end it all. what are you on about...this is a football forum discussing the game and the ins and outs of it... should we discuss rupert lowe and the picture of a train..?
St Marco Posted 6 September, 2009 Posted 6 September, 2009 St Marco people are worried as because we have been utter tripe for years and it still continues people told this time last season (i was one) that "get behind the team ffs" and all the patronising guff that has been written in this thread....done wonders im not saying we should be doom or gloom or happy clappy...maybe just respect that some will share differing opinions without talking down to them... But as i said what is this opinion? The team is crap, the manager is crap we must sack the guy and get someone else in who will get us winning? That will not happen as it has not happened every single time we have done it. These people never learn. They look simply for the negatives and ignore the positives. Say we did get in another guy and he did the same thing then what? Fire him? How can you plan for the future by adopting that mentality? You simply can't. As others have mentioned we have done that method and it has hindered us further. We as a club will never progress if the fans expect instant success. If your a team who has been flying high i.e a top 6 team for a couple of years then yes you can expect that from a new manager. But a team that has been relegated twice in basically 5 years and has strugled in majority of the other years you cannot expect someone to just change that by signing their name on a piece of paper. The way back to the top will never happen if people think quick fixes = longterm results. The team is playing better then we were last year, the finances are secure, we have a good manager who has been succesful in the recent past etc etc, all the things required to have a platform to push on from. People saying the team is crap, were playing crap, were doomed etc are just talking total ********.
Thedelldays Posted 6 September, 2009 Posted 6 September, 2009 the fact that we would be in the relegation zone without the deduction means we are pretty crap...no matter how you slice it cant really see anyone saying pardew should go now...but it is a results driven business and if we go on say, the next 10 games without a win...he will resign IMO NOTE - I DONT WANT HIM TO GO
S-Clarke Posted 6 September, 2009 Posted 6 September, 2009 There will come a time when the words ''a win will come - it's coming together - we're playing well, a win is not long away'' will become hollow and worthless, as we see our team slip 20 points from safety. Whatever anyone says, a double relegation would be unthinkable - how can the club recover quickly from that? We'd end up being gutted again next year. - that is what is staring in our face at the moment people, make no doubt about it. i didn't believe it would be, but the table is scary. I'm one of the positive outlook ones, i honestly believed we would get these -10 over quickly, but we haven't. FWIW i still believe we'll be ok in the end, but you cannot really accuse people of panicking in what is an intensively worrying situation.

If you cannot see genuine improvement in the side you are either: 1) not there 2) there but with your eyes closed 3) there, can see it but are, because of your own state of mind, ignoring it consciously or sub-consciously. I defy anyone to tell me this defence is not 200% better than that inherited by Pardew. So, like all the best managers he has improved the back five immeasurably first. Now we need to score goals. What did everyone who was there say yesterday? We had no pace and width to get behind. What did the manager say in his post-match comments? Exactly the same. What is he supposed to do? Get Lallana to improve his speed? Or what he did, throw on our only two wingers? What else do you want Pardew to do? Bribe the ref? Turn Lallana into Gerrard with a magic potion?? Come on, fes up, I'm all ears...
St Will Posted 6 September, 2009 Posted 6 September, 2009 what a ball bag you are - patronising **** So if someone asks for a bit of patience and positivity, they're patronising, or happy clappy or deluded. If people act negative and suicidal, they're being realists. Nice.

No, you're whinging and whining.

St Will Posted 6 September, 2009 Posted 6 September, 2009 Is it because you're from Glasgow that you're so miserable? I mean, I know Scotland is a dump and you can't help but be unhappy. Is that the reason?

What else do you propose?

No, you're whinging and whining. You are the negative one - I think we should win most games in this league.....thats positive thinking right? Its only when we dont win (consistantly) that i get annoyed. The team is not playing to its potential and I can celebrate that fact.
Micky Posted 6 September, 2009 Posted 6 September, 2009 Well there appears to be no end of people here who are willing to pull the trigger right now, so do you think I should start a thread as to who we want to replace AP, or shall we just do that in this thread as well. Replacement for AP, thoughts anyone? There was a poster on here a couple of days ago telling us that George Burley would be sacked yesterday - he has a great point per game ratio, far better than AP - any takers there perhaps?
S-Clarke Posted 6 September, 2009 Posted 6 September, 2009 Well there appears to be no end of people here who are willing to pull the trigger right now, so do you think I should start a thread as to who we want to replace AP, or shall we just do that in this thread as well. No one is saying Pard's should be sakced - no one. I don't see where people are getting this from. I don't want him sacked...he needs time. but you cannot accuse people of worrying and expecting a little more....it's ambition, IMO - something alot of our fans lack.

Which are we now are hard to beat. We played a top 10 premiership team and were the better team, we lost because of 1 flash of abilty from their superior players. We lost to Huddersfield who have lost once in 8 games and are one of the bookies favs for promotion. Swindon who have lost once in 6 and that was to Wolves on penalties. The other games we should have won and that is the difference and why people are not taking people who are moaning serious. This time last year, or the last 2 years we were a poor team who got beat and deserved to get beat. I came away from the far majority of those games ****ed off at how we were playing. This year we are playing much better and if it wasen't for bad refereeing and luck we would of won at least 2 of our 6 games. If that has happened people would not be complaining. So if we play crap and are beaten and that happens game after game then yes you would begin to worry, but that is not the case is it. I think we will draw against Charlton and then go on a winning run. If we get say 3 wins from the next 4 that is 9 points from 12. If that happens it makes all this negativity look simply stupid. There are 40 games left to play. That is 120 points to play for. We are capable of winning 50% of those games for sure.

I still think Pardew came in at the wrong time . I thought Wotte should have been given the job for a few months and if results were poor he could be moved out. Now there is no room to monouvere it would plainly be stupid to sack Pardew. I think it would be a good idea to get somebody in for a month to help him like Hampshire did with Duncan Fletcher.

Patterson,Mellis,Mills etc are young players who are yet to play a full season, they are un-experienced. But they are only playing because we don't have better in those positions at the time. And that is not the managers fault. That is what makes their opinions sound so dumb. If we had someone of Ronaldo's quality would we not be playing him? Assuming Papa play's up front then he will obviously play alongside lambert. That gives the speed side we lack. Holmes will obviously come in for Mellis and so on. We have the players who have the ability to make the team better. Soon as we win a couple of games we will push on from there and all this will be forgotten. But they will then complain about something else.

St Marco Posted 6 September, 2009 Posted 6 September, 2009 I dont see it that way as we have lost better players like Surman John Rasiak and McGoldrick That is your opinion, but mine is the team now looks very good. Yesterday we tried to play football the way it should be played. Colchester didn't want to play that way and that is what made the game the way it was. The other games we have been good. We are a compact team that is hard to score against. That makes a massive change from last season. For the same period last year we had let in 11 golas, compared to just 7 this time out.
dune Posted 6 September, 2009 Posted 6 September, 2009 Well said LTC. I can't really be bothered reading this forum much because of the handful of mongs that can only post negative opinions. It's their right to moan all the time, but they are boring as ****.
Saint Benali Posted 6 September, 2009 Posted 6 September, 2009 Most people i'm sure are happy with the way the club is going. It is going forwards 1 step at a time. Much better then going backwards 1 step at a time.
Guest Dark Sotonic Mills Posted 6 September, 2009 Posted 6 September, 2009 Is it because you're from Glasgow that you're so miserable? I mean, I know Scotland is a dump and you can't help but be unhappy. Is that the reason? thats just not on, criticise the team, thats kind of what this forum is for, but slating other people is just going ott
Micky Posted 6 September, 2009 Posted 6 September, 2009 I still think Pardew came in at the wrong time . I thought Wotte should have been given the job for a few months and if results were poor he could be moved out. Now there is no room to monouvere it would plainly be stupid to sack Pardew. I think it would be a good idea to get somebody in for a month to help him like Hampshire did with Duncan Fletcher. Damn what a good idea - so instead of sacking him we will offer him support and assistance instead eh. Bloody radical, it will never catch on. I tell ya.
alpine_saint Posted 6 September, 2009 Posted 6 September, 2009 Great post and think the vast majority will agree. Why dont you change the f**king record ?
