Pilchards Posted 5 September, 2009 Posted 5 September, 2009 Now it was great seeing the guy before kickoff and I really do see him giving the whole team a good bonding exercise as I reckon they all will be doing his dance but my question is this. Does Waigo look at our team and think 'What the **** am I doing here' or does he think that he will love being the star player here and that he don't care they looked crap? Discuss please.
PaulSaint Posted 5 September, 2009 Posted 5 September, 2009 I reckon he thought "17 shots but no goals, come to Mama !!!!"
RedAndWhite91 Posted 5 September, 2009 Posted 5 September, 2009 Hopefully the latter, but I don't agree with the whole "we're crap" business, as today we did play some good football (although I'll admit it was limited). Things are improving I reckon, and hopefully with Waigo we will see more improvement, and hopefully, a few wins!
Window Cleaner Posted 5 September, 2009 Posted 5 September, 2009 I should be extremely surprised if Waigo does anything at all positive, third division english football will probably not be his cup of millet beer.Prepare for another Torpedo, Sarmiento,Griffit,Sarli type deception. He will get kicked up in the air 10 minutes into the game next week and after that he will become invisible.

Unfair comment I think. The lad isn't a lightweight like Griffit or Sarmiento, he's 6 foot 1 and looks like he can handle himself physically, plus he'll be used to getting kicked all over the place, defenders in Italy are nasty b*stards. He's probably overjoyed that he'll be playing in our nice shiny stadium rather than the decaying concrete ovals of Italy and as I mentioned on a previous thread, he spent a few seasons at Verona and it's f'in cold there in the winter.
Window Cleaner Posted 5 September, 2009 Posted 5 September, 2009 Mr bloody negative window! Get your negatives down baby, get them downnnnnn! I am a connaisseur of African Footballers, look at Utaka, the bees bollix at Lens, struggling like hell at Pompey, our game just doesn't suit them. It's nothing negative but the bloke has had no real success outside Italian serie B when he was at Cesena, these blokes need to be protected by refs and he won't get that in League 1.

WE shall see, I said I should be surprised that's all. You all see him as some sort of Messiah, I see him as another second rate senagalese footballer who can't cut it in Serie A.
oxfordshire_saint Posted 5 September, 2009 Posted 5 September, 2009 (edited) our game just doesn't suit them Africans are the same as any other foreigners that come here, some are hits, some are best forgotten. Are you telling me Drogba isn't suited to the Premier League? Obviously for every Drogba there is a Djemba Djemba. But like I said, it's the same for all foreigners, look at Italians, for every Zola there's a Silenzi, or Dutch, for every Van Nistelrooy there's a Boogers, or French, for every Cantona there's a Guivarch, etc etc. Edited 5 September, 2009 by oxfordshire_saint

I'm not claiming him to be a messiah, just not happy that people are writing him off before he's even played a game. I'm sure there's plenty of players who couldn't cut it in Serie A that could probably cut it for us! Robbie Keane couldn't cut it in Serie A!
S-Clarke Posted 5 September, 2009 Posted 5 September, 2009 I only have the fear that this complete unknown is being made into this ''season saving'' savior - the unveiling on the pitch was a bit OTT - not being negative, but i just think he should be blended into the team like the other new lads have. He could turn out to be excellent...but im not sure they should be building this unknown entity up this much. Let's wait and see!

Didier Drogba. One that Saints did'nt sign, recommended by Terry Cooper.
chrisobee Posted 6 September, 2009 Posted 6 September, 2009 Oh boy, never mind let's be positive or even wait and see, let's just send him back to Italy now. Papa, away you go back to Italy if you've any sense.
Iowsaintsfan Posted 6 September, 2009 Posted 6 September, 2009 I would like to know why he wasnt on the bench yesterday when we didnt have a striker to come on
chrisobee Posted 6 September, 2009 Posted 6 September, 2009 I would like to know why he wasnt on the bench yesterday when we didnt have a striker to come on Um, because his clearance to play did not come through from Italy in time, all the fault of Pardew of course!
Fitzhugh Fella Posted 6 September, 2009 Posted 6 September, 2009 Perhaps we should wait and see him play. All this "he is going to save us or "he'll not cut it in this league" is premature because hardly anyone (inc Pardew) has seen the lad kick a ball in anger.
Saint Sanso Posted 6 September, 2009 Posted 6 September, 2009 I reckon he thought "17 shots but no goals, come to Mama !!!!" I completely agree with this, I reckon he is probably bouncing around right now and very eager to play, knowing hes going to get opportunitys to score. I have never seen the guy play or even heard of him before his signing, but if he is what hes been hyped up to be.. then I think he took alot of enthusiasm from todays game.
ladysaint Posted 6 September, 2009 Posted 6 September, 2009 I really hope he turns out good but I hate it when the parade players on the pitch before a game, it gives them a lot to live up to. I think the last two pitch paraders were Skacel and Delgado.
hamster Posted 6 September, 2009 Posted 6 September, 2009 It would be interesting to hear how we found him, especially as AP publicly commented the other week on our lack of scouting and knowledge base. He also mentioned that he has kept his finger on the pulse whilst out of work, so he is fully aware of every incoming players abilities and where they fit into the big plan. Really do think that us (the fans) are often guilty of overhyping players and coaches, but that's just human nature. Still, he has a good name and it will have already sold a few shirts which go towards his plane fare (hope he flew FlyBe), and it was a nice change from the usual dross pre-match entertainment to watch a fully grown man do a funny dance for no other reason than to make us supporters smile.
Thedelldays Posted 6 September, 2009 Posted 6 September, 2009 all the hype...just like skacel... lets see if he is good before we complain about being over hyped...
hamster Posted 6 September, 2009 Posted 6 September, 2009 all the hype...just like skacel... lets see if he is good before we complain about being over hyped... dd out of interest, do you feel that Rudi was ALL hype or a victim of poor man management and tactics? Even MLT suffered for periods under the wrong managers.
Thedelldays Posted 6 September, 2009 Posted 6 September, 2009 dd out of interest, do you feel that Rudi was ALL hype or a victim of poor man management and tactics? Even MLT suffered for periods under the wrong managers. he was good at hearts...but like burley...good for half a season which is not a long time (which many over look)...hull were great for half a season last year.. he was a victim of hype...but who hyped him..? he never. I think he would be great for us now and was good for us in the CCC.. playing at LB..which was NEW to him by his own admission (he never was a LB and played there once or twice for marseille) was not helpfull... funny how the players we slated for so long...some of which would be ideal now..lol
Pilchards Posted 6 September, 2009 Author Posted 6 September, 2009 He's going to be sh*t, trust me. Okay Rory thanks for that, I shall boo him very loudly on his debut for you, that okay?
Rory Posted 6 September, 2009 Posted 6 September, 2009 Yes, our best player by far is Wotton and he gets some really unjust stick on here.
Mase Posted 6 September, 2009 Posted 6 September, 2009 He's going to be sh*t, trust me. This is based on what? – Nothing What a stupid post.
Griffo Posted 6 September, 2009 Posted 6 September, 2009 This is based on what? – Nothing What a stupid post. Bite.
mcjwills Posted 6 September, 2009 Posted 6 September, 2009 He's going to be sh*t, trust me. This is based on what? – Nothing What a stupid post. Dont feed the troll, you gave him the reaction he wanted
St Will Posted 6 September, 2009 Posted 6 September, 2009 At least he knows he'll get booed if he has a bad game. That'll be inspiring for him.
Thedelldays Posted 6 September, 2009 Posted 6 September, 2009 At least he knows he'll get booed if he has a bad game. That'll be inspiring for him. hmmmm maybe a shock as it seems that saints fans are the only ones EVER to do this..mental

Thedelldays Posted 6 September, 2009 Posted 6 September, 2009 Were you booing from your armchair too? why are you being such a ******..is it that difficult to accept others share a different view to you..I could quite easily bite and be offensive but you are not worth it..
St Will Posted 6 September, 2009 Posted 6 September, 2009 why are you being such a ******..is it that difficult to accept others share a different view to you..I could quite easily bite and be offensive but you are not worth it.. I do accept other opinions to my own. I don't accept whinging and whining after 6 ****ing league games....it's pathetic. There are FAR worse things going on in the world. And like it's been said 100 times, we're lucky to have a club at all. Get some perspective!

St Will Posted 6 September, 2009 Posted 6 September, 2009 of course there are far worse things in the world..far worse than getting worked up on a message board... I'm not worked up in the slightest. Just trying to get people being positive for a change. Cuz I know it will help, even if others don't think it matters.

Cuz I know it will help, even if others don't think it matters. great effort..instead you have insulted people...keep it up to be honest, stop worrying about what is said on here...do you really think it makes a blind bit of difference..? if you do, then you need to get out more (imo)

And just because "it doesn't make a difference" doesn't mean it's ok to be miserable and down beat and complain about everything. Positive vibes spread.

And just because "it doesn't make a difference" doesn't mean it's ok to be miserable and down beat and complain about everything. Positive vibes spread. why do you care if I or another thinks that we are under performing..why..? does it ruin your day..? as for players having laptops...well, they get massive praise when they do well and get very well rewarded for it...they have to take it on the chin when they dont..if not, they simply will not succeed..simple as that..
St Will Posted 6 September, 2009 Posted 6 September, 2009 why do you care if I or another thinks that we are under performing..why..? does it ruin your day..? as for players having laptops...well, they get massive praise when they do well and get very well rewarded for it...they have to take it on the chin when they dont..if not, they simply will not succeed..simple as that.. Do they?
St Will Posted 6 September, 2009 Posted 6 September, 2009 You don't just think we're under performing either, you're looking for someone to blame, looking for excuses and reasons to complain. I know we're under performing, but I'm not whining about it because I'm prepared to give them more than 6 games.
Thedelldays Posted 6 September, 2009 Posted 6 September, 2009 Do they? im...im sure the players at saints are payed handsomely...and when they do well get adulation that we could dream of from joe average..even in league 1
Bailey Posted 6 September, 2009 Posted 6 September, 2009 I have to admit, presenting Waigo to the crowd pre-match was a bit cringe-worthy as we haven't actually seen him play yet. However, from the looks of it, he relished the fact that the fans have taken to him already and I got the impression that he will enjoy the responsibility of being one of our key players. Time will tell, but I'm hoping that Papa will come good for us.

Rebel Posted 6 September, 2009 Posted 6 September, 2009 he wants it to work, we want it to work lets hope it works besides we all needed something to feel good about on Saturday and Waigo's pre-match appearance gave us some kind of feel good factor we despearely need a cult hero at St Mary's lets hops he can bet it

Saint Richard of Woolston Posted 7 September, 2009 Posted 7 September, 2009 Papawaigo had a very good season in Seria B but really failed to cut it in Seria A. If he plays to his potential, and adjusts to English weather, food etc then the consensus of the people who HAVE seen him play is that he will do very well for us in this League.

Does Waigo look at our team and think 'What the **** am I doing here' or does he think that he will love being the star player here and that he don't care they looked crap? Discuss please. I spent the entire game wondering what the hell he must think of this league... there was one period of head tennis in the first half when I started to get embarrassed for him !
Dimond Geezer Posted 7 September, 2009 Posted 7 September, 2009 I've been listening to Wave 105 & they had someone phone in and say that they met Papa in West Quay, he took Mum & child for a meal, a kick about in Hoglands Park & bought the nipper some footy stuff, apparently they are going out for a meal next week. Top bloke or hot mum?
Scummer Posted 7 September, 2009 Posted 7 September, 2009 Surprised they didn't bring Jaidi out as well. Is it because he can't do keepy-ups?
kpturner Posted 7 September, 2009 Posted 7 September, 2009 I know what you mean Bailey, but my kids loved it when he was showboating for the camera. It was a nice bit of excitement before the main event.Boom boom boom everybody go Waigo Waigo.Sounds like it was the only bit of excitement, and I got there too late to see it.
