Well said Gemmel. I note the change in tone of Pas Dieu in the after match interviews. A few weeks back he was telling the players it was time to deliver. Well, Mister Nicolas Cortese, I'd like to hear a similar statement asking Mister Pas Dieu to deliver too.

His tactics and team selections are abominable. His substitutions defy logic. How many players more before we get a win? We are worse off today that the seasons start. 12 points needs to get out of the bottom four and further and further off the top clubs. It's not good enough and when you look to the likes of Bournemouth, Swindon and even Brighton winning today it's a disgrace we could beat a team with 10 men and their Central defender taken off. A full side today and Colchester would have gone home with 3 points.

Stand up and deliver Pas Dieu.

Yeah lets get rid, he's had his chance. Who do you think we should appoint next and how long should we give him??

Posted
We are in massive trouble of relegation. We will lose at Charlton next weekend, so I would give him until 2 games after that to get his first win. If not, unfortunately for him with the way the world works now, its curtains.

Oh please...

...because high turnover of managers has really worked for us in the past hasn't it?!

Clearly our start is v disappointing, but this club was rotten (and rotting) to the core - the new regime, need time and a bit of faith from us to turn it around. This is a LONG TERM project - short term reactions won't help at all.

Pardew has to stay, long term, however he needs to motivate the players to win matches. Despite the poor performance today, we have the players here to be in at least

mid table by the end of the season. The players are well enough paid to play without

fear, and when the first win finally happens, I think we may win a few on the bounce.

However we have to get that first win as soon as possible now.

again...how exactly did he fook up and what would you have done differently??

subs were spot on, 1st 11 was right imo.

Short of AP actually going on the pitch and scoring for himself there really wasnt anything he did wrong.

I suggest, if you want to aportion blame you look at the players.

What game were you watching? That was very poor!

If AP was happy with that I wasn't! I'm getting a bit tired of the excuses now, I expect results. I don't care about the hard luck stories - I want points!!

Posted (edited)

Mellis wasnt the best choice tbh but he played well against brum, he made every sub i was saying he should except schneiderlin for perry ( i said take james off), today i do not blame pardrew.

Whilst i agree with the sentiment we have played games we should have won and today is a great point in case ......time for Pardew to deliver

+1 - time for him to deliver. I wouldn't worry if our team had a tactical strategy and cohesive method of play but we don't..................It's so obvious we are playing with a narrow midfield tactic and we are crying out to get those wide midfielders WIDE but AP does nothing about it!

Posted

I believe he should be given time (anyone talking of him being judged in the next 3-4 games is stupid IMO) But im not of the opinion that he should be kept on if we get relegated, IMO that will just be promoting failure.

FWIW i don't believe we will get relegated and i hope to finish in mid-table so we can push next season.

Pard's is a good manager....i've seen enough at west ham to convince me of that, we just need that flaming win under our belts!!

Posted

Actually, on reflection I really don't think AP will make it. Yes as he has said his string point is reginising a good player - though his persistance with Wotton was bewildering. However his tactics are well short of the required standard for this club. I really do think he ain't gonna make it. Yes another three games would be fair if things are not sorted by then - which they won't be tactically, then that's long enough- he is so far away from getting things right that persistance will be by then futile!

Posted

it takes time to put right years of dross,ap will sort it.he and the team should get all the support we can give.i know weve put up with a lot of sh**e these past few years but f**k me some on here need to wake up,we were nearly out of existence.keep the faith, even though its tough at the moment,we will come good

Faith - blind faith with such poor performances - is that wise?

Knee jerk!

When will people learn that you need to give people a certain amount of time - .... and I feel that 9 league games is hardly enough.

I understand your point of view, but after nine games, is it wrong of our fans to expect to see a marked improvement in the team and their play in a match? From what I witnessed yesterday we aren't improving much, that performance was only fractionally better than at Swindon!

I'm afraid 5 year plan or not, pardew will not last until Christmas if he can't even muster a game plan.I don't think he is able to cope with the massive job that needs doing here,if he is struggling now then he is going to find it even more difficult come Christmas when the crowd really start to turn the screws.yesterdays booing signals the end of the honeymoon period and the start of his problems IMO.

Posted
Genuinely ,the last thing i want is to sack the manager......foook knows we have had enough of that in the past . That doesn't mean he / they are immune to criticism and today pardew deserves it (IMHO) because he got it wrong

I agree with your sentiments

There are too many easy excuses Pardew is just not delivering at the moment

Surely against 10 men we should have at least scored at home.

Thread title : "Only one person to blame - Pardew" !

I realise that a 'blame culture' exists in this country today, but is it really necessary to always react in this way ? Surely a 'support culture' would reap more benefits ?

Within the last 2 months the club has been turned upside down and inside out, therefore everyone should be pulling together to get things right !

If AP were to read this thread, do you really think that he would be motivated by it ? Surely we want him to feel good, not depressed !

Maybe I should start another thread with the title :

"One person badly needs our support - Pardew" !

Posted

Only one person to blame...Lowe.

We are still recovering from his mistakes. We are rebuilding, it will take some time, we are impatieint and want instant results (understandable) but I am confident that we will get there. Whilst the game yesterday was poor, we did dominate and had a number of chances which on another day may have all gone in. Colchester defended very well and made a number of goal line clearances.

I think it is ridiculous to think Pardew will definitely turn the club around he may or he may not only time will tell.

He failed miserably at Charlton in his last job.

Of course we would like a successful team but at the moment we do not have one and are in the relegation zone

The booing came over loud and clear, the natives are getting restless and it sounded like the whole ground and not just a few 'impatient/hysterical/unrealistic' fans.

Wether or not fans like it,managers get the boot regurlarly, you can count on one hand the long term managers in all of leagues, managers come and go so it will not be out of the ordinary and nothing to fear.

I will be surprised if pardew lasts until Christmas.

Are you for real? What a load of bollix!!!!!!!! He aint going anywhere, thats the reason we are in this division FFS!!

Unfortunately our chances fell to the one player who will never score while he has got a hole in his backside. There are a large number of players in non league who would have put his chances away - he did one flick on pass and the rest was just dross - a rabbit in the headlights just like he plays in the Reserves

Managers take much of the credit when things go right and consequently must share much of the blame when they don't - this is the way of the (football) world . Alan Pardew hasn't run out of time - he's not even nearly run out of time - but at a bare minimum he has to keep us up this season I'd say . I really don't think that's asking too much .

Ultimately however there are only two people who's opinion counts for anything at SFC now - Nicola Cortese and Markus Liebherr . Both these gentlemen are on the record stating all the usual stuff about stability and long term planning ... etc but their true reaction to failure (I'm not saying Pardew will fail) remains as big an enigma as they do .

As ever time will tell .

For goodness sake, let's give the guy a chance.

He has had to build a whole new team in one hit, not had a pre season to do it and we are now at least being competitive.

Before long I believe this team will click and some other team will get a hammering. I'm really frustrated but it's time to be objective, not hysterical!

As I said yesterday on another thread,if turnover of managers is the reason/excuse for failure why aren't spurs or man city down with us?,spurs being the prime example......

Since our promotion together in 78 spurs have had 24 managers to our 18,they have won 7 major trophies and been runners up 4 times (all before redknapp),they have been in the top flight for 30+ years......24 different managers hasn't shackled their consistent progress.

So bollix it ain't,changing managers is the norm for 99% of the football league and it is also a myth that changing managers = failure.

You need to find a more credible excuse for our sh1tty little, run of the mill club.like the majority of the league we cannot afford the luxury of stability.

Do we have to BLAME anybody?!

Of course not but it's been the way with Saints fans for as long as I can remember. Frankly I cannot be bothered to respond to many of the posts on here as they are not only ludicrous but more often than not intelligible which I always find ironic !

My biggest concern is that we have the players to pass teams off the park. We don't have the forwards to play hoof ball. It seems that Pardew is happy for us to try and to boot it up to Lambert or Patterson even though the opposition's defenders have won just about everything.

And it's annoying.

Which is exactly what we had LAST season .... but we never had any forwards to CONVERT the (many) chances made .....

... same as now by and latge ..... I seriously wonder whether any part of any training session is dedicated to SHOOTING PRACTICE ..... ( at the GOAL)

Yeaterday you couls almost taste the DESPERATION of snatched shots, hurried shots etc ..... the very time you have to take e deep breath and create time for yourself ........ it's jut not ther ATM

IMHO, Pardew should realise TWO Main things

1) In Division 3 ( now called Div 1) ... it's no use just playing nice pretty pretty football all the time ... because when you get to the opponents penalty area, there are at least four "no nonsense" 6 ft heavyweights, just ready to kick the bal/ and/ or player off the park

2) In Division 3 ) now called Div 1) ... the standard of refferreeing and linesmanship is absolutely Kr*p ..... and unless you get mown down by a sub-macine gun ...... the Referee aint gonna blow

Life in this League is Kr*p, Dire, Brutal, and the Dregs ........ only Teams that adapt to it will get anywhere ....... it does not always mean playing football pays off .... regretably, as we have seen so far this season .... it certainly does not at the moment:cool:

I agree, I think this whole thread, and board to be frank, is getting ridiculous.

The one thing about sport is that there are only so many things you can control. You can play as good as you've ever played and still get beaten. That's just how it is. And when you're a manager and you can't even participate in the game, and are relying on others to do the job for you, there's even less you can control. It's the same for Pardew, it'd be the same for the next manager, and the next, and the next.

In sport, you're only inches from success or failure. So we're on a bad run. Eventually, it WILL turn round, as long as we give it the chance to. At the minute, we're all contributing to our demise by finding someone to blame, by booing the team, by criticising Pardew. Why don't be contribute to us turning it around by supporting the team more and more, the longer we go without a win? Why can't we all go down to SMS, and let the team know we actually want them to win?! Rather than make them feel that we're looking for the first opportunity to find something to have a dig at them about?!

Posted

I'm bored of fans criticising managers - we've had some brilliant ones and lost the lot.

Pardew has my faith. You dont undo the 14 odd year disaster of Rupert Lowe overnight. Fact.

The wide plays are fit again. Please enjoy your last day of negativity. The bottom has been reached. Confidence will grow with every clean sheet and the luck will come and with the first win will come the second win and the confidence will grow along with team.

The reason we are in this division is not because of changing managers - loads of clubs change managers they dont all slip from the prem to bottom of L1 in 5 years.

The real reason we are in this mess is because we appoint the wrong managers.

Too soon to call on AP but results so far are very poor. If I get things wrong in my job, my boss will say "get it right or we will find someone else that can" he aint going to sit back and say "poor lad, lets give him a few years before we judge"

The expectation of some fans has hit rock bottom and some are now satisfied with the absolute bare minimum - its quite sad.

AP arrived on the back of an exciting takeover - he has been backed financially and on the terraces....he had every oppurtunity to make the best possible start - yet he has made the worst....

There is only one person to blame for Saints problems and that is Rupert.

It is clear a number of fans do not realise the problems he caused last year and turning around this mess will take most of this season, certainly until xmas at least.

The demand for "instant success" was never going to happen this season because of the problems left over from last season, for example :-

1/ Fitness Levels: we were OUT RUN by 10 men yesterday (e.g. 1st 10 mins of 2nd half Adam breaking away down the right; colchester managed to get THREE players over to stop him while a number of players were standing with their hands on their hips taking a rest).

The time when Fitness levels SHOULD have been addressed is in the first 3 weeks of training when that "clueless dutch clown" was playing friendlies against totton and eastleigh (what a joke). He SHOULD have had the players running up sand dunes in Scotland at that time.

It will take a FEW MONTHS to get our fitness levels up to the required levels while we are playing games.

2/ Take the 10 point penalty, why did he tell somebody on the london underground that we were "in effect already in Administatration" some FIVE WEEKS before the 10 point deadline ?

That penalty was not taken last season but delayed until a few days after the deadline imo to cause the maximum problems for the people coming after him.

I am suprised at the number of good players AP has managed to get in but I bet there have been many others who have refused to come to us because of the 10 points. We need a good "No8" to work with ricky, but so did a number of other sides in this league and the ccc and the choice between a us on -10 and the others has probably meant we have lost out on a few players.

3/ AP has already mentioned that there was NO scouting network or watching of oppostion teams when he arrived at the club.

WHO destroyed these NECESSARY functions within the Football Club, I think we all know or can guess. It will take weeks to get these functions up and running again.

I am not saying AP is completely blameless for our problems, the standard of corner taking is p*ss poor (please get somebody who can take them with some pace on the ball).

However, in general our delivery of balls into the box was shockingly poor yesterday AS IT HAS BEEN FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS, it isn't something that AP has brought to the club it is something that is that has been there for a few years.

rant over.

I think a more realistic comparison for Spurs is Arsenal, two clubs that 15 years ago were roughly the same size.

In those 15 years Arsenal have (by and large) had stable management and Spurs have played the managerial merry go round.

As a result Arsenal are now streets ahead of Spurs.

Looking at our situation to want Pardews head now is a joke.

He has had no pre season preparation time and has therefore had to perform a complete rebuild during the season.

He inherited a terrible team full of kids shot through on confidence that had just sunk without trace in the Coke.

The players he has bought look decent to me but they need games under their belts to generate a cohesive team.

To expect us to be tearing up trees this quickly is laughable IMO.

Pards must be given at least the rest of this season and then we'll then see.

I think a par for the course performance would be mid table now.

Didin't Arsne Wenger win the league in his first season, after they sacked the previous manager?

Stablity doesn't equal success, finding the righ manager equals success which in turn brings stablilty.

Pardew needs to be given time but so far he has been poor - you cannot argue that.

I would suggest some of the players have been poor. Pardew doesn't control them all with remote control. There's only so much he, or any manager, can do. Who are we to say whether he's been doing the right things or not? He might well be doing a brilliant job behind the scenes and the players just aren't doing it on matchday.
