Burley will be sacked if/maybe.......wtf.

Burley is our best manager since WGS and all those who said "anyone could do better" have egg on face since insisting he should be sacked.

playoffs (lost out by tini margin) then left us in top 10 only a few points from playoffs again......our decline since he left is testiment to the job he was doing.

would I have him back - no! move forward now not backwards. while he did a good job, it was only good in comparison to rubbish. hopefully AP can go one step further?

In all honesty the fact that George Burley appears to be failing as Scotland Manager wont come as a surprise to most on here , although it's highly arguable whether Scotland have enough good players available to do very much with even the best possible manager .

I personally take no pleasure in seeing GB struggle however , he always seemed to me to be a decent football man trying to do his best , his best unfortunately seems to be not quite good enough anymore .

As there's clearly no realistic prospect of George Burley's return to SFC so I see no point in even discussing it .

Our decline while he was here and since he left is indeed testament to the job he was doing, or rather not doing. We were left with the most unfit, unmotivated team ever. His apparent success getting us to the playoffs was largely down to the input of Snodin, when he departed it was all downhill. Burley continues to live on his success at Ipswich and to a small extent Hearts, sadly for Scotland they have discovered what most Southampton supporters knew at the time he left. He was and is a spent force. Why anyone would think it was a good idea to get him back defies belief, especially when we have such a decent manager now.

Yes, it was a good time for Scotland before Burley took over. We narrowly missed out on Euro 2008 qualification in a group with Italy and France (the two previous World Cup finalists), beating France twice in the process. I had real confidence in Walter Smith as manager, and I was gutted when he left, but McLeish did a decent job too and kept the hopes alive, but when he went and Burley came in I lost all confidence completely.

The Scotland squad you see now is nothing compared to the players that played their hearts out for their country in the Euro 08 qualifying stages, this squad is full of CCC players because that is the level that Burley knows. There are plenty of players in the Scottish leagues that are miles better than some of the trash that have been picked for the squad recently (Chris Iwelumo, Callum Davidson and Steven Caldwell spring to mind). Honestly, my pet dog could do a better job than him, i'm sure of that. The sooner that he's sacked, the better. He was never a manager capable of managing a team at international level and he never will be.

And to see that he's got the seal of approval from Berti 'f*cktard' Vogts just makes it even more evident that he's gash.

There are plenty of fantastic, young Scottish managers out there that could do a great job for the team. I would personally like to see Craig Levein installed as manager, because I honestly think that he's one of the best managers outside the EPL, or alternatively Gordon Strachan, who isn't young by any means of the word, but could really bring confidence back to the players and fans alike.

Burley was never going to work out as Scots Boss. His supposed strengths were getting teams to play attractive football, and using his scouting network to bring in decent foreign players. Neither were going to be beneficial to the Scots.

They need someone who will get them organised, and fight tooth and nail to grind out a win.

Not quite sure how he landed the job to be honest.

Unfortunately Burleys reputation will precede him now. He'll be lucky to get a job in L2 or perhaps Poopey might take him on as Asst. Mgr.! Lol.

Rubbish. I think he's an excellent manager and P*mpey would be lucky to have him.

Scotland did us a huge favour, as we were a club that regularly sack their managers, he jumped instead. And we got comp for it if I am not mistaken... a bit like someone coming in for Wotton with big bucks right now...!

it will draw a smile on my face when he is sacked..

funny how the same things are being said by their fans that were said by our fans near his end...

also, his man management skills have been questioned..AGAIN...

time for the scrap heap....

If Scotland fail to beat Macedonia (maybe)

Who would welcome him back as saints manager?

It's a no from me but could he do a decent job for a L1 club? Does he need money to operate?

I mean this in the nicest way possible - you're f**king mental for even posing the question.

He was awful, when we were losing he went missing on the touch line and when he was out there he flapped his arms like a penguin and the team took not the slightest notice except his "lovechild" Jermaine. It is said the drinking culture of the team got much worse under him and his interviews were whinging excuses of how hard done by he was with injuries etc.etc every time, much as he does for Scotland now....never darken the doors at St. Mary's again even in a bad dream.

It's a hobby :-)

Pardrew should get at least this season and the next to prove himself in my opinion.

If he fails to gain promotion on either season, then I’d like to see him go. But I wouldn’t want Burley as the replacement…

crap manager who was paid a fortune and spent 12m on crap players who failed. Pearson had basically the same points ratio with none of the luxuary he had. A clueless manager who has taken Scotish football back to the stone age. All that hard work done by Smith and Mcleish undone by a muppet. The best thing Leon Crouch did was get the club money to offload him.

****ing hell no!

Only the most narrow minded simplistic fan could want him back. The very few who saw a playoff finish and completely ignored the huge money spent, under achievement every week, ridiculous decisions, huge wages and ultimate ****ing us over long term wasting huge sums on old **** players on big wages.

He's an appalling manager, achieved next to nothing and never will do. He can stay the **** away from this club because we needed a Swiss billionaire to undo the damage last time.

Totally agree. He's the Scottish Steve McClaren - very very average club record, gets the national job and no one really knows why, one qualifying campaign to prove what everyone else already knew and off you go...

Burley lost the plot at Saints when Snodin & Simon Hunt ( chief scout ) left following play offs

Think the Scotland job is ideal for WGS as he can start work after xmas which means he can have some time to hone his razor sharp put downs & then continue to watch as many matches as he wants & claim its scouting

Yes.It was excellent news at the time as Saints couldn't afford to sack him.

I think you are very very wrong as far as Alps is concerned. Can't comment on TDD.

At the very beginning, I was pleased with his appointment.

Then I saw the tactically clueless, unfit, illogically selected, disinterested underachieving shower of sh*te he put out for matches...

Just like England's World Cup dream dying in France '98 whilst the nation's biggest threat, greatest penalty taker and best ever attacking midfield played sat on his couch watching back at home....Just the same, Scotland's World Cup dream is in danger of slipping away while their best player and biggest threat sits watching it on tv

Burley...get real, that's not a 'no', that'a a 'fu¢k no!!'

With the money spent in the 06-07 a decent manager would have got us promoted, except Burley squandered it on average players playing them stupid wages who under performed week in week out and he rewarded them with continuing to play them as such. We were lucky to make the play-offs that year, the fact that we did just papered over some truly dreadful results that season.

Yeah why would we want a manager back who has the biggest win % of any previous managers? There'd be noting to moan about and God knows there is a faction on here who are only happy when they have something to ***** about.

Frankly what has his time at Scotland got to do with us? They are a poor side and I doubt Alex Ferguson could do much with them.

If Pardew's record ends up equalling Burley's for us I shall be well pleased. But he going to have to win matches to do that, something Burley did, despite his detractors on here.
