Saints 1 - Colchester 2

I can't help but feel we're not quite ready yet. The squad needs time to gel and Papa needs time to adapt to the english game before he can make any real impact. I think we'll start positively, but concede at around 10 minutes and lose confidence. We'll equalise just before half time via a scrappy goal from a corner but then we'll fall foul to a Colchester goal in the dying minutes of the game.

not ready yet...they have been selling their players and lost their manager

if we cant beat these then we have some serious issues at the club..we have played enough games to have our own pre-season...

Add to what TDD has said in that they have lost their last 3 games.

I think the players will be up for this one after last week. Plus we now have competition for places, i think it is clear that if you cant be arsed you will be dropped by the looks of how Pardew has set the selections up.

Add to that we have their ex captain who will dish the dirt on ceratin things like who to watch and so on. Having a new manager especially one who has beaten us the last 5 times we played him is always going togive them a lift, everyone knows the manager bounce. But as some guy once said records are there simply to be broken. So i feel confident we will win tomorrow. It does not matter how we do that just as long as we do. I would take a poor performance and a win with a shot hitting someone's arse and going in finishing 1-0.

But i think this one could be a pummeling. If we can get forward like we have done in the last 2 games and we take some of those chances we could easily win this one.

So i'm going for a 3-0 win to Saints :)

4-0 Lambo 22(pen), 45, 75 Lallana 80

.....and the first throw-in... 60-120 secs. (I am NOT ITK) ;-)

btw

I am reserving judgement on Papa Waigo, don't quite subscribe to the current ****fest based on a player having a cool name and a youtube goal celebration.

I think when the dam breaks with our newer players we will win for fun. But Col U are an awkward bunch so my prediction is we will win our next game of proper football not div 1 hoofball (seen 3 games of it now and already bored) at the Valley in 8 days. Charlton will want to beat Pardew just a bit tooooo much. So - another draw for me - this time with them scoring first for a change.

Just been sat next to Gobern, Schneiderlin and Melis is Banana Wharf in Ocean Village and I can confirm they ate and drank healthily and went home early. So at least our subs will be on the ball if required tomorrow ;-)

3-1 Saints

Without Jaidi and Murty in the back four, I can't see us keeping a clean sheet. We should be stronger in midfield and we do have Lambert's presence up front, but with Rasiak gone, Saga away and Papa Waigo not able to play today, the scoring options are still limited. The new signings, together with holding on to Schneiderlin and Saga might boost the confidence factor but for Colchester, so will the Boothroyd appointment. Looks like a score draw to me 1-1 but in the circumstances I'd see that as a good result, as the team can only get better as the better players come in, or come back, over the next week or so.

But they have a new manager (which apart from Saints always means a win) and they still have some of the same players that won 7-1 away to Norwich.

It wont be as easy as some on here think but i will go for a Saints win 3-2.

Am I right in thinking we only have Paterson and Lambert available as strikers?

If one of those gets injured or has a **** game, we have problems.

The OS lists Lallana as a striker (I'm not convinced) and I wonder if Jamie White is available if needs be .

Has a draw written all over it. The excitement over our new 'signings' has dissipated with the pair of them being ineligible, and although Holmes is due back I am expecting late news to say he's unavailable with another knock (feeling not ITK) with Mills being the only bonus addition from our previous draw. As such Colchester are still on a high, confidence is such a massive advantage in any sport and Boothroyd has a great record against us. In fact I've just talked myself into a Saints loss.

Saints to lose 2-1.

Saints 1 Colchester 3

I'm basing this primarily on the fact that predicting a win for us hasn't worked yet. However, Boothroyd teams always win and always score three against us and despite losing their last three they'll be bouyant after his appointment. Smashing seven against Norwich shows they've got the talent to do well and with Murty out I think they'll target our right back. It's a shame that neither Waigo or Jaidhi are available as well.

The only bright spot for me is that we could hopefully see the return of either Mills or Holmes. We haven't really had a balanced side this season and I'd expect our left side to be pretty strong if either of them start the game.

i think that 7-1 win was a one off...hence why they have lost a few lately...they have a new manager and lost players (if that was us we would have to "gel")

Agreed dd, i understand it to some point, but simply cannot join in the pessimism. They (CUFC) are in a bit of a bad way imho.

Not convinced but 3-1 to Saints would be a great result...and ease our worries.
