surely...SURELY this is the start of the season (so to speak)

we have (by all accounts) been playing well and creating chances (at last)

We simply have to win, I cant see anything other than a saints win...

2-0 saints

I doubt we will keep a clean sheet. I do agree about the creating chances, and I just hope we can capitalise on this and bang in a few goals so that if we concede it isn't a bloody equaliser or winner in the last 10 minutes.

With a good performance:

Heart says 2-0, head says 1-1.

With a poor performance:

Heart says 0-0, head says 3-1 loss.

Incidentally, I think Colchester's loan of John-Joe O'Toole was inspired. Within seconds of Boothroyd joining, his appointment had paid off. One of the League One signings of the summer IMO.

Saints to win 2-1. Can't see us keeping a clean sheet, but I can see Papa Waigo dancing at St. Mary's as he comes off the bench to net a late winner. What a way to intrdouce himself that would be!

when was the last time Davis kept a clean sheet?

Optimist part of me says a 2-1 win on the basis that we play better against better teams. Dross always beats us.

interestingly ...southampton to win the first half, colchester to win the second half is 28/1 with will hill (considering the amount of times we have done that recently, should be an automatic fiver put on that lol) and ..as some of you are predicting, southampton to win 4-0 is 66/1, southampton to win 5 -0, 100/1 ...wheres all the gamblers out there?

1-1 but would love us to finally click and win 5-0 or something outrageous like keep hold of a 1-0 lead to the final whistle. lol

I actually think we have more chance of winning 2- or 3- nil than of 1-nil. At 1-nil, if they attack a bit near the end of the game we will go to pieces yet again as the crowd gets nervous and makes the players nervous... result 1-1 or worse.

Whereas at 2 or 3 up maybe we will gain some confidence and stay positive *****il someone remembers Leeds)

Good grief! The swear filter took out 'until' because I put it in brackets, as in ( until someone ..... ) but without a gap. Isn't this getting just a bit silly?

Arse achingly boring one nil to us.

But that's what we need a few of. Winning 4-0 would probably do more harm than good to everyone concerned, fans and players alike.
