RedAndWhite91 Posted 4 September, 2009 Posted 4 September, 2009 (edited) The Johnstone's Paint Trophy draw is tomorrow and Saints will be drawn against one of the following: AFC Bournemouth Aldershot Town Exeter City Hereford United Northampton Town Swindon Town Torquay United Who would you prefer to play in the next round? Personally I'd like to get Aldershot, but each and every team in that short list are beatable, so there's no reason why we can't progress to the next round and carry on further. EDIT: We have drawn Torquay at home. Edited 5 September, 2009 by RedAndWhite91
Guy Posted 4 September, 2009 Posted 4 September, 2009 Aldershot away, then I can be in walking distance of the game for a change.
kpturner Posted 4 September, 2009 Posted 4 September, 2009 Torquay, while the weather is still good enough for the beach.
Pancake Posted 4 September, 2009 Posted 4 September, 2009 Aldershot away, havent been to the Rec in years.
RedAndWhite91 Posted 4 September, 2009 Author Posted 4 September, 2009 It will be AFC Bournemouth I reckon! Bournemouth fans would probably think of this as some sort of West Ham - Millwall tie, even though everyone knows there is no rivalry, or if there is, it is only Bournemouth fans thinking there is (there's another thread about this).
ladysaint Posted 4 September, 2009 Posted 4 September, 2009 Aldershot away, havent been to the Rec in years. Ditto.
RedAndWhite91 Posted 4 September, 2009 Author Posted 4 September, 2009 Yes I would definitely like Aldershot away. I have already been to Swindon's, Exeter's and Bournemouth's grounds, so failing Aldershot, I wouldn't mind Torquay. Although Bournemouth would be a laugh. Sod it, I don't really mind.
hypochondriac Posted 4 September, 2009 Posted 4 September, 2009 We will get northampton and I will cry
Saint Fan CaM Posted 4 September, 2009 Posted 4 September, 2009 I am finding it a little hard to get excited about this, but of course its another chance to catch up on lost pre-season 'gelling'. Bournemouth at home would be good - bit of psuedo south coast rivalry could be quite lively and fun.
Thedelldays Posted 4 September, 2009 Posted 4 September, 2009 to be fair....we should progress you would have thought... imagine winning this thing..lol
saintwarwick Posted 4 September, 2009 Posted 4 September, 2009 Not Swindon, ive been there! Well at least you will know the way next time.
RedAndWhite91 Posted 4 September, 2009 Author Posted 4 September, 2009 to be fair....we should progress you would have thought... imagine winning this thing..lol I'd love it if we did, it would be my first trip to the new Wembley! Plus I reckon it's been a while since our trophy cabinet has been opened..

Aldershot would be good for me but Exeter and Torquay are out of the equation due to shift work.
Saint Martini Posted 4 September, 2009 Posted 4 September, 2009 Torquay, while the weather is still good enough for the beach. Two weeks ago?
Andy_Porter Posted 4 September, 2009 Posted 4 September, 2009 It'll be Northampton home or Swindon away, we never get exciting cup draws. Bournemouth away would be my pick.
Bailey Posted 4 September, 2009 Posted 4 September, 2009 Would love to play Aldershot away. Haven't been to the Rec in a long while!
stevegrant Posted 4 September, 2009 Posted 4 September, 2009 Really hope we don't get Bournemouth, their fans will be unbearable regardless of the result.
The9 Posted 4 September, 2009 Posted 4 September, 2009 Aldershot away is the only away I'd bother to go to, the others are either too much hassle for a midweek poxy cup or I've already been there. So Aldershot away or a home draw, pweeze.
EastleighSoulBoy Posted 4 September, 2009 Posted 4 September, 2009 Bournemouth fans would probably think of this as some sort of West Ham - Millwall tie, even though everyone knows there is no rivalry, or if there is, it is only Bournemouth fans thinking there is (there's another thread about this). I was thinking this myself just the other day, I was in a discussion with a Manc about the Jamie Turner affair and how it's viewed differently. He mentioned that some of the Bompey firm were talking about coming up here the next time we get to play Man.U. We both remarked on how Bompey are Skate wannabes and have some sort of fixation, with Saints being their focus of 'dislike'. So, Bompey (for the sheer enjoyment of knocking them out of the cup) for me.
Fan The Flames Posted 4 September, 2009 Posted 4 September, 2009 Aldershot would be fun, the last time I went there (to watch Brighton) years ago, we got showered with lumps of ****, happy days.

david in sweden Posted 4 September, 2009 Posted 4 September, 2009 It will be AFC Bournemouth I reckon! .........and when was the last time we played Bournemouth in a competitive match, I wonder ? 19 **.......?
The9 Posted 4 September, 2009 Posted 4 September, 2009 .........and when was the last time we played Bournemouth in a competitive match, I wonder ? 19 **.......? 1987/8 League Cup, lost 3-2 on aggregate. http://www.soccerbase.com/results3.sd?gameid=5917 Before that it was the 1950s. Though strictly speaking the last league match was April 1960 : http://www.soccerbase.com/results3.sd?gameid=91126
Saint Samuel Posted 4 September, 2009 Posted 4 September, 2009 Never been to Aldershot, so playing them away would be nice. Got mates who support Exeter and Swindon, so wouldn't mind getting them and beating them for bragging rights, need to get revenge on Swindon.
Iowsaintsfan Posted 4 September, 2009 Posted 4 September, 2009 Well at least you will know the way next time. Getting there was fine it was getting home
bungle Posted 4 September, 2009 Posted 4 September, 2009 Swindon away would be good as only 25 mins on the train for me. Don't want Northampton or Torquay away.
Iowsaintsfan Posted 4 September, 2009 Posted 4 September, 2009 Swindon away would be good as only 25 mins on the train for me. Don't want Northampton or Torquay away. Cobblers, i bet you do
Crab Lungs Posted 4 September, 2009 Posted 4 September, 2009 I want Bournemouth to get ****ty small clubs so it all aids to them going out of business, not getting bumper gates to keep the wolves from the door. Having said that, it would be satisfying to trounce them.
bpsaint Posted 4 September, 2009 Posted 4 September, 2009 Would quite like Bournemouth home or away, fed up with all the friendlies against them and their pathetic fans, would be nice to beat them in a game that actually means something.
Mase Posted 4 September, 2009 Posted 4 September, 2009 Aldershot away would do nicely. My choice as well. Only 15 minutes drive for me!
saint1977 Posted 4 September, 2009 Posted 4 September, 2009 Bournemouth would be my first choice and hopefully stuff them, Aldershot would be a close second.

Michelle Posted 4 September, 2009 Posted 4 September, 2009 Aldershot away please, only one of those grounds I haven't been to.
brianoneils slidingtackle Posted 4 September, 2009 Posted 4 September, 2009 Aldershot for me as well, it would be a good evening out in the chavtown of north hampshire
Thedelldays Posted 4 September, 2009 Posted 4 September, 2009 the cherries....by the time that game would come about, HOPEFULLY we would be in full swing and hammer them
St.Jeweller Posted 4 September, 2009 Posted 4 September, 2009 Swindon away.......this time we'll actually turn up and put on a performance [-o
gjphilsaint Posted 4 September, 2009 Posted 4 September, 2009 Northampton away and I can get there in 30 mins!!
hypochondriac Posted 4 September, 2009 Posted 4 September, 2009 Ask MLT. I expect he's rigged it. And put a few quid on the outcome?
sotonjoe Posted 4 September, 2009 Posted 4 September, 2009 Aldershot is a dump and we'll get thumped by Swindon.
