Quite funny, only thing that annoys me is that it's always English clubs that are used to make an example.

Although - was the Juventus relegation a few years ago FIFA or the Italian FA?

Italian FA.

Besides that I don't think English clubs are being made an example of. Give me a similar example where the punishment was less severe. Sometimes players sign several contracts and get punished, in this case the responsibility lies entirely with Chelsea because they knew he had a legitimate contract.

a swiss club had the same thing a while back dint they? think they appealed and can still sign players until the appeal is heard, expect chelsea to drag feet on this one in the hope the hearing comes after january....

they will be fine. ish.

Essien, Kalou, Mikkel and Drogba, anyone else be off to the A.C.O.N?

Can still play 4 of ballack, lampard, Malouda, Joe Cole by then, Deco in the midfield, and Anelka and sturridge up top, recall a few of the fringe players, Di Santo, sinclair etc and they will be fine

Quite funny really. I reckon on appeal they will bring it down to just one window though which is a shame because that really won't affect Chelsea at all.

No suprise that so many Chelsea players have signed contract extensions recently.

what is funny about this.....is the fact this ban came out after the transfer window is shut....lol

We paid a fee for Mcgoldrick and Blackstock. Walcott joined us from his youth team.

what is more worrying,I think is platini's unswerving hatred of anything english, just because bryan robson scored after 28 seconds in the world cup in 82

about 2k or something wasnt it..?

Something like that. Thing is, although they were pretty derisory sums and the whole thing leaves you feeling a bit dirty, the selling clubs agreed to the deal; it's not the same as just talking a player into walking away from his contract.

I know what you mean...the whole thing is an ass..

UEFA want to stop transfers for anyone under 18...seems pretty sensible...but then that would have stopped theo coming to us and progressing at that time...

its a toughie

I also think it will stifle some young talent, better clubs have better acadamies, coaches and facilities.

Perhaps a Quota system on the amount of non-local youth players a club is allowed ??

But also a Quota of the amount of foreign players in each squad would help, but it would have to be a blanket worldwide thing.

Chelsea aren’t the first club to do this and they certainly won’t be the last.

It’s a decisive decision by FIFA, they just need to be consistent. But I can’t see that happening…

I wonder what English club will be made an example of next?

To be honest I think the best way would be to introduce a drafting system like they have for NFL in America. Obviously massive amounts of money would need to be poured into the colleges that the young players play for.

It doesn't seem to effect the Brazilian youngsters.

Far too many players move too early in there careers and end up regressing at a big club before moving back down the leagues.

It seems they are doing exactly that, or considering it according to SSN

UEFA only want to stop international transfers for under-18s. They would find it very difficult to prevent domestic transfers, IMO.
