gjphilsaint Posted 8 September, 2008 Posted 8 September, 2008 I would like to put forward a suggestion that Terry Paine be included on thre left hand side of the banner. I realise for the sake of symmetry that another more recent player be included on the right, which I will leave to other to be decided. But paine on the left please!!?
scooby Posted 8 September, 2008 Posted 8 September, 2008 I would prefer Beattie up there over Pahars or Claus.
Saint_clark Posted 8 September, 2008 Posted 8 September, 2008 I would prefer Beattie up there over Pahars or Claus. Shows how much you know. Beattie wanted to leave at the first sign of money - Claus stayed for the last decade of his career, and Pahars would have too if he could of got fit in the month he was given. I kind of agree that Pahars should be dropped though. Compare him to someone like Svensson, who requested to stay unpaid and get back into the squad.....

So in your world, you would prefer to see a journeyman grafter up there, with little to no talent, flare or ability to deliver success to SFC, based solely on him giving us a few years because no other club wanted him?
St BATman Posted 8 September, 2008 Posted 8 September, 2008 Put Niemi on the right. The man was a legend!
Guest Hacienda Posted 8 September, 2008 Posted 8 September, 2008 The usual ******s,misses the point and doesn't answer difficult questions as he's a gormless troll ZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Sums it up I feel.
Fowllyd Posted 8 September, 2008 Posted 8 September, 2008 If Paine were to be added on the left, how about Marsden on the right?

I have no problem in footballers wanting money and success - it's when they stop giving a sh*t about the club that I lose all respect for them.

stevegrant Posted 8 September, 2008 Posted 8 September, 2008 claus was ready to go to newcastle when we went down, so I am led to believe...but they did not follow up their intrest He'd have fitted right in with their defence. Back on topic, we might have a look at the forum banner in a few weeks' time. Baj and I are currently working on getting the main site launched.
Tac-tics Posted 8 September, 2008 Posted 8 September, 2008 i would prefer beattie up there over pahars or claus. omg
eelpie Posted 8 September, 2008 Posted 8 September, 2008 We can't have Paine on one wing without Sydenham on the other - please...
VectisSaint Posted 8 September, 2008 Posted 8 September, 2008 I would like to put forward a suggestion that Terry Paine be included on thre left hand side of the banner. I realise for the sake of symmetry that another more recent player be included on the right, which I will leave to other to be decided. But paine on the left please!!? Surely Paine should be on the right Must admit I think Channon and Paine should be on the banner (and Bobby?), as top legends of the Club, though I would be sad to see Ivan disappear to make way. Maybe KK will disappear when the going gets a bit tough as he usually does Personally I don't think current players should be on the banner, it should be real legends only, and it will be many years before any of the current crop earn that status (with the possible exception of Killer).

Ivan? Are you quite sure about that?
SuperMikey Posted 8 September, 2008 Posted 8 September, 2008 Personally i'd like to see either Jermaine Wright or Mikael Nilsson up there.
Junction 9 Posted 8 September, 2008 Posted 8 September, 2008 Perry Groves and Patrick Colleter for me. Oh, and what banner?
Andy_Porter Posted 8 September, 2008 Posted 8 September, 2008 I don't even see any banner. Jelle Van Damme on there please.
VectisSaint Posted 8 September, 2008 Posted 8 September, 2008 Ivan? Are you quite sure about that? No  Never really looked closely before, but I really did think the one 2nd from left was Golac. If thats Mick then its a terrible picture. I wish I hadn't posted now, rather embarrassing... New banner required urgently to save old fogies like me with fading eyesight from further shame
Ron 09 Posted 8 September, 2008 Posted 8 September, 2008 Let's not forget Bobby Stokes please. Fantastic servent of the Club and scored that great goal. Thanks
TopGun Posted 9 September, 2008 Posted 9 September, 2008 Why have two posters requested Channon when he is clearly there already? Maybe we could have rotating player GIFS on a random code so it would be like a fancy xmas tree... you'd never know which six might turn up... you could get Lee Todd, David Speedie etc etc on a bad day! Or MLT and Ron Davies etc on a good day!
ponto1963 Posted 9 September, 2008 Posted 9 September, 2008 Alan Ball should be on there too!! Legend, player & manager!
Windmill Arm 2 Posted 9 September, 2008 Posted 9 September, 2008 I find it down right f***ing disgusting that so called 'FANS' of Southampton f.c. could even begin to consider the players listed above, ahead of the only true saints legend there ever was. Step Forward 'ALI DIA' Come on mods, Make it so.
Windmill Arm 2 Posted 9 September, 2008 Posted 9 September, 2008 Oh meant to add one of these before some highly strung drama queen jumps on my back, and starts ranting about how much I know, and i'm not a true fan blah blah.
Big Ron fan Posted 9 September, 2008 Posted 9 September, 2008 Paine instead of Keegan on the left. Agree entirely. Personally, I would have Dodd ahead of Claus. A much more consistent player who played for longer, even if he wasn't up to it as a caretaker manager.
thesaint sfc Posted 9 September, 2008 Posted 9 September, 2008 I vote Niemi to be up there somewhere.
'dover Saint Posted 9 September, 2008 Posted 9 September, 2008 I say update it, if thats what people want, and turn it into a car window sticker for about £1.50 each with all profits to SaintsWeb for fees etc
trousers Posted 9 September, 2008 Posted 9 September, 2008 Can't we sort out roads, sanitation, medicine and education before forum banners?
trousers Posted 9 September, 2008 Posted 9 September, 2008 Id have Terry Hurlock over MLT on there. Nice imagery. Thanks.
eurosaint Posted 9 September, 2008 Posted 9 September, 2008 Perhaps we should reflect the 'brave new world' and have Rupsey, Wildey & Janno on the left and a few unkown 16 year olds on the right ! This would prove to the universe that we are all about revolution and total football !!! :)
The Fat Controller Posted 9 September, 2008 Posted 9 September, 2008 Jimmy Case, David Armstrong, Mick Mills , Rueben Agboola, "Chicken" George Lawrence, Gordon Hobson, Gerry Forrest, Andy Townsend, Graham & Steve Baker..........
EastleighSoulBoy Posted 9 September, 2008 Posted 9 September, 2008 Poll poll i say! No referees have ever been on our side!
derry Posted 9 September, 2008 Posted 9 September, 2008 Paine, LeTissier, Channon, Ron Davies, Lundekwam, Sydenham, Benali, all long service loyal players. All but Claus and Ron were youth players.
simo Posted 9 September, 2008 Posted 9 September, 2008 Id have Terry Hurlock over MLT on there. I'll have an ounce of what you've been on!
