Psycrow Posted 1 September, 2009 Posted 1 September, 2009 Saints Twitter Feed says... "How's this to get tongues wagging - we are still hard at work at St Marys finalising a deal.Unlikely to be announced until 2morrow #saintsfc"
S-Clarke Posted 1 September, 2009 Posted 1 September, 2009 Jaidi at a guess. - as we cannot bring in any loans until monday now.
Badger Posted 1 September, 2009 Posted 1 September, 2009 If we can convince the authorities our fax was not working properly then a permanent signing might be possible. Otherwise its another loan.
Give it to Ron Posted 1 September, 2009 Posted 1 September, 2009 Must be an out of contract as the window shut at 5pm so cant register for 7 more days even loans. Lets just hope Jaidi turns out far better than the last drawn out signing...won't mention who as it bores the tits off me the way people think its funny saying has ***** signed yet. funny the first time but not the 10000th
SO16_Saint Posted 1 September, 2009 Posted 1 September, 2009 nothing to report - no news. Something to report - it's reported. Simples!
Minsk Posted 1 September, 2009 Posted 1 September, 2009 Jaidi at a guess. - as we cannot bring in any loans until monday now. That would be my guess too. Well it has to be him, or someone else out of contract................
revolution saint Posted 1 September, 2009 Posted 1 September, 2009 (edited) Bit underwhelmed to be honest. We started the day thinking we'd get three players in and ended up with the maybe promise of one player that's obviously going to be a loan or a free. Edited 1 September, 2009 by revolution saint forgot about free agents.
Minsk Posted 1 September, 2009 Posted 1 September, 2009 If we can convince the authorities our fax was not working properly then a permanent signing might be possible. Otherwise its another loan. It definitely won't be a loan. It will have to be someone out of contract.
thorpie the sinner Posted 1 September, 2009 Posted 1 September, 2009 TBF, I would definitely settle for Jaidi tomorrow with a couple of pacey loans to follow!
Alright Dave Posted 1 September, 2009 Posted 1 September, 2009 Bit underwhelmed to be honest. We started the day thinking we'd get three players in and ended up with the maybe promise of one player that's obviously going to be a loan or a free. No its obviously going to be a free transfer. Loans also stopped at 5pm, but unlike perminent signings the loan window re-opens a week from now. The only deals that can be done between those times is the signing of an out of contract player i.e. Jaidhi
madsent Posted 1 September, 2009 Posted 1 September, 2009 That would be my guess too. Well it has to be him, or someone else out of contract................ I noticed that Charlton's ex-striker, Jonatan Johansson was released today, as was Dejan Stefanovic. It could be one of them or Jaidi.
SO16_Saint Posted 1 September, 2009 Posted 1 September, 2009 I did notice that Ribery wasnt announced at either chelsea, Liverpool or Arsenal today as was suggested....???
Deanovski Posted 1 September, 2009 Posted 1 September, 2009 benjani was signed 4 days after the window closed..
S-Clarke Posted 1 September, 2009 Posted 1 September, 2009 benjani was signed 4 days after the window closed.. after he fell asleep in the airport - i remember that. although i think it was only 1 day late.
revolution saint Posted 1 September, 2009 Posted 1 September, 2009 No its obviously going to be a free transfer. Loans also stopped at 5pm, but unlike perminent signings the loan window re-opens a week from now. The only deals that can be done between those times is the signing of an out of contract player i.e. Jaidhi Still not exactly inspiring is it? Jaidhi is probably a good signing but I expected that would have been the easier of the deals to tie up - and wasn't dependant on today either. We look a lot stronger defensively anyway and Jaidhi would help but still need quality in wide areas as we seem to struggle creating chances.
Rasiak-9- Posted 1 September, 2009 Posted 1 September, 2009 Hmm, of course a signing has to be registered to the FA by 5pm but could it be possible that there are aspects of the deal that can be settled after the registration? ...maaaaaaybe? meh it'll probably (hopefully) be Jaidi which is cool i guess. He's just the ticket for this league and whilst getting him in doesn't involve monies its a decent signing
Micky Posted 1 September, 2009 Posted 1 September, 2009 Mifsud P l e a s e , n o o o o o . . . . ! ! !

Psycrow Posted 1 September, 2009 Author Posted 1 September, 2009 No, I reckon its a proper transfer. The registation is done but there's a few details to iron out yet... I can't see them sending that out on transfer deadline day if its a free transfer that can be done on any day
saint_stevo Posted 1 September, 2009 Posted 1 September, 2009 P l e a s e , n o o o o o . . . . ! ! ! Are you against pace and ability?
jimmysaint7 Posted 1 September, 2009 Posted 1 September, 2009 P l e a s e , n o o o o o . . . . ! ! ! i second that as he is ****
S-Clarke Posted 1 September, 2009 Posted 1 September, 2009 massive let down if it is jaidi he'd be a coup for us IMO. but Misfud would also offer us something we don't have at the moment....he's a quick/agile/nimble player....we haven't got anyone like that! perfect foil for lambert, would be happy with that.

Has Skacel signed yet?
S-Clarke Posted 1 September, 2009 Posted 1 September, 2009 Has Skacel signed yet? I wish we still had the threads from those days on the old S4E forums. Would be a good laugh to go back over them!
sotonjoe Posted 1 September, 2009 Posted 1 September, 2009 Just when you thought the speculation had died down! Are we resigning him? That would be brilliant.
Block 5 Posted 1 September, 2009 Posted 1 September, 2009 No, I reckon its a proper transfer. The registation is done but there's a few details to iron out yet... I can't see them sending that out on transfer deadline day if its a free transfer that can be done on any day I reckon you're right. Striker announced tomorrow with Jaidi to follow by the end of the week? Hopefully in time for the U's game........they will be on a 'bounce' with a new manager by the look of it. By the way....what happened to our 'bounce'?

Agreed and as I stated elsewhere players with pace and skill are not exactly easy to acquire and the more so at our level.
Ash Posted 1 September, 2009 Posted 1 September, 2009 Hmm, of course a signing has to be registered to the FA by 5pm but could it be possible that there are aspects of the deal that can be settled after the registration? According to a source quoted on the Guardian earlier deals can be concluded after the deadline as long as "formal proceedings to tie up the deal began before the five o'clock deadline" Skip to 5.21 on this linky So we could well still be set to announce a signing, sorry if this disappoints all the cheddars who get a boner when the opportunity to whinge about the Super Saints arises.
sandwichsaint Posted 1 September, 2009 Posted 1 September, 2009 BenWatson (ex-Palace) .... Wigan to QPR on loan.... wouldn't have minded some of that..... are their billionaires richer than our billionaire? I'm quite happy to see AP given two seasons to get us out of L1; I just hope that we haven't cut it so fine come Xmas time that we are too far adrift to attract the further players we need (either to push on for next year, or to stay up this year!) When did you ever see the words 'false economy' and 'Saints' in the same sentence?
ART Posted 1 September, 2009 Posted 1 September, 2009 Henri Camara is out of contract and a free agent. To my knowledge he hasn't signed for anyone yet. The Jaidi deal is already lined up and only waiting the work permits. For me Camara would really be the icing on the cake, and a job saver for Pas Dieu.

Ashby Saint Posted 1 September, 2009 Posted 1 September, 2009 (edited) If we can convince the authorities our fax was not working properly then a permanent signing might be possible. Otherwise its another loan. Sky Sports were muttering something about the Richard Dunne move to Villa being completed in the morning. Not sure how they would do this - maybe a letter of intent to FA HQ is enough or maybe Man City releases him and Villa sign a free agent? Ahhh just read the earlier post about clause 5.21..... Edited 1 September, 2009 by Ashby Saint
saintpat Posted 1 September, 2009 Posted 1 September, 2009 The deal(s) do(es) not need to be completely finalised by 5PM.
Psycrow Posted 1 September, 2009 Author Posted 1 September, 2009 BenWatson (ex-Palace) .... Wigan to QPR on loan.... wouldn't have minded some of that..... are their billionaires richer than our billionaire? nothing got to do with it. He's a quality player who has and can easily hold his own (and more) in the Championship. Why would he go to league 1 on loan? We have more of a chance of competing for a player like that in a permanent transfer than we do as a loan

No, the dutch experiment was LAST year. This year is the Swiss Billionaire owner experiement, frankly, I prefer it.

What, whether there's any truth in the suggestion we're signing Patrick Kluivert? No idea, but I guess not.
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 1 September, 2009 Posted 1 September, 2009 No, I reckon its a proper transfer. The registation is done but there's a few details to iron out yet... I can't see them sending that out on transfer deadline day if its a free transfer that can be done on any day I hope you're right but I've a feeling it'll be Jaidi. IMO, we've registered him as a Saint in time but we're awaiting completion of a formality (i.e. work permit, leave to remain, international clearance) before confirming it. As for the twitter teaser - let us not forget the feed they sent out encouraging us to login at 7am one morning to find out our latest signing only to discover it was Graeme Murty, who'd been on trial with us anyway...
Saint Charlie Posted 1 September, 2009 Posted 1 September, 2009 Even if it is Jaidi, what a bloody good signing he would be. A 100 cap defender who has Premiership experience. Him and Trotman would be a formidable partnership!
