CLOTH EARS Posted 1 September, 2009 Posted 1 September, 2009 I know the loan window is still open, but I am a tad worried that we havent signed anyone today. Its a very risky game we are playing as the current crop of players would be in the bottom 4 anyway even without the 10 point deduction, that tells me that currently we are not good enough! To run with things as they are untill January could leave us with a mountain to climb in the 2nd half of the season.
surrey1saint Posted 1 September, 2009 Posted 1 September, 2009 Can't say I am not disappointed that we have signed no new players.
saint lard Posted 1 September, 2009 Posted 1 September, 2009 I am concerned and dissapointed that,as yet,we have not secured the services of centre half, pacey winger, centre forward.
Legod Third Coming Posted 1 September, 2009 Posted 1 September, 2009 Can't say I am not disappointed that we have signed no new players. there are so many double negatives in there I have no idea how you feel... Care to elucidate?

Christ if we could find someone to play there... hang on.. isn't that what Delap was? And a long throw to boot!

I don't think that's true, some of the players are decent, even outstanding for this level of football, trouble is with the make do and mend we are using because the manager won't play to the strengths of our better players we are drawn back to the level of the lowest common denominator. AP has decided that we're going gung ho Route 1 over the midfield to his shiny new toy and that's it. We all know he needed 2 centre backs and some wide pace but he decided otherwise.

I agree and I am very concerned even if we've got the Boro lad on loan as indicated by some posters on here. I really think this current squad of players will finish in the bottom 4 even without the -10. In the games I've been to, we've been far too narrow and lacking any pace, guile and at set pieces at both ends, height. Lambert could be handy but not if starve him of any service. I'm just glad for Davis and Harding otherwise we wouldn't have any points at all.

I've not seen enough of Mills but perhaps the thinking is he can do the same? James can also deliver the ball. I'm more concerned that we don't have another striking option unless Saga really comes to the party. But if he does, a 'front four' of Lambert Saga Mills and Holmes would be ample to beat most teams in this league, surely?

Personally I could pass on Davis for a keeper that's better on crosses and a decent (but not exceptional ) shot stopper.Aerial bombardment and lack of pace at the back was our undoing last season and we've conceded some iffy goals from crosses and set pieces already this season. I think we saw the difference when we had Richard Wright, not knocking Kelvin but he is suspect on crosses. Edited 1 September, 2009 by Window Cleaner

Wait for confirmation of anything before passing comment. I think whoever it was was talking about the more recent RUMOUR of him going on loan to Boro (eventually).
