Saint Martini Posted 1 September, 2009 Posted 1 September, 2009 From the BBC: 1402: He's still here. Apparently, he's here all day is Championship Mole: "Doncaster are interested in signing midfielder Simon 'best a man can get' Gillett from Southampton."
St.Patrik Posted 1 September, 2009 Posted 1 September, 2009 Hmm what will happen with our sponsor money then
Torres Posted 1 September, 2009 Posted 1 September, 2009 Hmm what will happen with our sponsor money then Sponsor Paul Wotton.
benjii Posted 1 September, 2009 Posted 1 September, 2009 If we sell him then obviously Pardew really doesn't rate him enough to want him to stay. Now, given that he's 24 and we have quite a lot of young midfield players (James, Schneiderlin, Gobern, Thomson, McClaggon, White, Holmes, Mills all of whom have some promise) as well as the experienced Hammond and Wotton, if we can free up a squad place and get some money it kind of makes sense.
Torres Posted 1 September, 2009 Posted 1 September, 2009 or Jaidi when he comes So we want him to leave?
John B Posted 1 September, 2009 Posted 1 September, 2009 So we want him to leave? It is not really up to us but AP who does not seem to rate him. AP has also mentioned the Squad is too big for League 1
Channon's Sideburns Posted 1 September, 2009 Posted 1 September, 2009 Wrong player to ship out. One of our midfielders who ACTUALLY HAS EXPERIENCE at this level. Sorry Pards, you've got this one wrong. Shift out Thomson & Pulis before you get rid of Gillett. HANG ON - YOU COULD NOT MAKE THIS UP = LET GILLETT GO, KEEP PULIS????????
Bailey Posted 1 September, 2009 Posted 1 September, 2009 I don't think it's a case of keeping Pulis, but that nobody is willing to take him off our hands!

Yes but you need to find a club run by people with no knowledge of football to take on Pulis.
Toadhall Saint Posted 1 September, 2009 Posted 1 September, 2009 Sideburns - you assume that anyone wants PULIS. ;-)
Channon's Sideburns Posted 1 September, 2009 Posted 1 September, 2009 Can't we just release Pulis? Surely even paying up his contract has got to be better than having him around...can't think that many have queued up in the Megastore to have 'PULIS 69' on the back of their shirt.... Oh hang on - they sold one. To Anthony Pulis - closest he'll get to wearing the red and white. Seriously it's more embarrassing than Ali Dia....or Lee Todd.
washsaint Posted 1 September, 2009 Posted 1 September, 2009 Very, very disappointing if true. Not given any chance by pardew and the fact that a Championship side wants to sign him shows he can play at a higher level than where we are at. A shame because he was our best midfielder last season.
GenevaSaint Posted 1 September, 2009 Posted 1 September, 2009 Very, very disappointing if true. Not given any chance by pardew and the fact that a Championship side wants to sign him shows he can play at a higher level than where we are at. We've been through this last week, for whatever reason AP does not rate Gillett, he's seen him in training. Maybe he just doesn't fit in with APs preferred style in a central midfield role. Whatever the reason it seems he's on his way, I don't see it as dissapointing, an opportunity for Gillett and for AP to get someone else into the club possibly. FWIW, lots of players leave clubs to goto higher levels and never make it. I saw a rumour today that Spurs were going to loan Bale to a CCC side, Chris Baird dropping down to CCC potentially, Cranie off to Coventry. With Gillett it's a gamble, he may well "make it" but according to J Bizzle he's crap anyway :-)
EastleighSoulBoy Posted 1 September, 2009 Posted 1 September, 2009 Yes but you need to find a club run by people with no knowledge of football to take on Pulis. Who bought Pulis last then? :smt017 Oh!
J Bizzle Posted 1 September, 2009 Posted 1 September, 2009 (edited) Good move. He's a pile of ****. If we get anything over £100,000 i'd be amazed, also I would quite happily drive the **** up here. Edited 1 September, 2009 by J Bizzle

Not given any chance by pardew and the fact that a Championship side wants to sign him shows he can play at a higher level than where we are at. A shame because he was our best midfielder last season. There's nothing on the Doncaster website about it. They've signed a couple of players including Billy Sharp on loan, but nothing about Gillett. I'm with you on this one and would like Gillett to stay to prove that Bizzle is talking through his arse.

Wes Tender Posted 1 September, 2009 Posted 1 September, 2009 I think we all know that anyway. We all know it, but it has not penetrated his cranium yet, despite how brilliant he is intellectually through his attendance at one of the country's elite universities and despite his encyclopaedic knowledge of football acquired from playing in the highest echelons.

Do think Gillett will play much this season. I dont think so for some reason AP does rates him. Edited 1 September, 2009 by John B
Neilza Posted 1 September, 2009 Posted 1 September, 2009 Good move. He's a pile of ****. If we get anything over £100,000 i'd be amazed, also I would quite happily drive the **** up here. You are funny. The end.

Actually why don't you just get your daddy to drive you up there & not worry your 84% head about our better players...I expect you're learning to drive with Jenson Button too....?

Not given any chance by pardew and the fact that a Championship side wants to sign him shows he can play at a higher level than where we are at. A shame because he was our best midfielder last season. Damn ****ing straight. He's out of form through a lack of playing time, however given a run he is a quality player - especially at CCC and lower. I suspect the only reason he is consistently being overlooked is his lack of height, which appears to be an area of the team AP has been most intent on changing. I would like to think that there would still be a place in the team for him, but i have a feeling that barring a plethora of injuies in CM, Gillet will be a bit-part player at best this year.

If we get anything over £100,000 i'd be amazed, also I would quite happily drive the **** up here. You need to be 17 drive unfortunately young man. Only a few years for you to wait I'm sure, then you can drive all the players you dislike anywhere you want to. Edited 1 September, 2009 by niceandfriendly
niceandfriendly Posted 1 September, 2009 Posted 1 September, 2009 A shame because he was our best midfielder last season. Without a doubt. It's a crying shame Pardew can't see it. Gillet would (and has been with Blackpool) class in League One. He can do it in the Chamionship which he showed last season, so he'd do it down another league. Having Gillet back in the team would be like a new signing, come on Pards give him a f'ing chance.
The boy done well Posted 1 September, 2009 Posted 1 September, 2009 It's a shame he hasn't moved on. It might have brought the adulation of him by some on here, not to mention often acrimonious debates, to an end. I'm a lot older than J Bizzle and I think he's vastly over-rated too. Runs around like a headless chicken creating little but in the mould of that much adored very average player that some would seem to want back, Prutton, looks as though he's doing the business. Have to say I'm relieved AP has spotted it!
Saint_Mabes Posted 1 September, 2009 Posted 1 September, 2009 I think Gillett is class, just lacking match fitness at mo as he isn't favoured.
modern matron Posted 1 September, 2009 Posted 1 September, 2009 Good move. He's a pile of ****. If we get anything over £100,000 i'd be amazed, also I would quite happily drive the **** up here. I doubt he'd want a lift from you.....
emerson massey Posted 1 September, 2009 Posted 1 September, 2009 Dont want Gillett to leave as i rate him as a player (given a prolonged run in 1st team) My question is why the animosity to J Bizzle, he has an opinion, a few people seem to be incinuating (sp) that his opinion is not valid due to his personal views/background Why is this? - genuine question as it seems there is an agenda, and i was just being nosey I cannot PM or would ask this direct
Leicestersaint Posted 1 September, 2009 Posted 1 September, 2009 In my view Gillett has a lot of potential if only he were given a chance. Last season he looked good. I definitely hope we keep him.
J Bizzle Posted 1 September, 2009 Posted 1 September, 2009 In my view Gillett has a lot of potential if only he were given a chance. Last season he looked good. I definitely hope we keep him. At 24 he doesn't have potential.

Lazlo78 Posted 1 September, 2009 Posted 1 September, 2009 At 24 he doesn't have potential. Spoken like a true FM-player. Funny thing is though, that sometimes reality is a tad more unpredictable than a computer game

LostBoys Posted 2 September, 2009 Posted 2 September, 2009 Where did this come from - oh its only the BBC - I was worried for a brief second
CHAPEL END CHARLIE Posted 2 September, 2009 Posted 2 September, 2009 I don't think it's a case of keeping Pulis, but that nobody is willing to take him off our hands! I understand the Government's 'Srappage' scheme is still in operation .
Wes Tender Posted 2 September, 2009 Posted 2 September, 2009 At 24 he doesn't have potential. That's what they said about Ian Wright too. They were also talking out of their posterior sphincters too.
dronskisaint Posted 2 September, 2009 Posted 2 September, 2009 My question is why the animosity to J Bizzle, he has an opinion, a few people seem to be incinuating (sp) that his opinion is not valid due to his personal views/background Because this fixation with Gillet seems both personal & lacking in cogent reason...the entire premise seems to be that he played a game against him. This has been followed by increasingly desperate attempts to claim some kind of credibility for his opinions even to claiming that he's nearly as qualified as Pardew to make such judgements & gaining an inflated mark in a history exam. Like you & most of us I am going to agree & disagree on most things in football/life/the universe but the animosity that Bizzle has created is of his own making - the impression (again I can only speak for me) is more of a spoilt child's tantrum or a woman scorned than a reasoned argument.

Eastcowzer Posted 2 September, 2009 Posted 2 September, 2009 Yes but you need to find a club run by people with no knowledge of football to take on Pulis. Why not send him down the road, in an easterly direction, They're down by the head with rubbish so no one will notice.
Charlie Wayman Posted 2 September, 2009 Posted 2 September, 2009 This is why I can be so negative about Saints. Another brilliant prospect buried by managerial prejudice. No doubt we'll regret it in six months when he's playing for England.
