Live Deadline Day Transfer Rumours from Daily Echo

Can't believe Pardew would say this (in Echo) without us signing anyone:

Pardew said: “We’re using our contacts to try and bring in a striker – I feel we’re a bit light in that area – and maybe a wide player, too.

“We’re also looking at finally securing the services of Radhi Jaidi.

Surely we will have signed someone and just not announced it yet?

Just had a quick thought - what's the betting we'll have lined someone up but the deal falls through due to the infamous "deadline day fax" issues?

Always makes me laugh when I hear that one; can just imagine Rupes back in the day trying to fax over some documents and finding that he'd run out of toner!!

Why havent the *ucking club come out and updated us. They happy to spout of this morning that we would bring in 1 or 2. Well update us now please so I can finally turn this computer off. Have they not got enough balls to tell us they failed in their transfr dealings today????

I expect some chap is down Staples trying to get some toner for the fax as we speak[-o

I will say again, why have the club not had the decency to update??? Smacks of not giving a *hit about the fans again. I will take all this back if something has happened but for now Im feeling pretty annoyed. If we havent signed anybody then so be it but just bloody tell us once and for all.

Calm the *UCK down!!! You don't get this aggressive if your missus comes home 10 minutes late do you?!

That is how I feel but there is no evidence that anyone has signed and it is almost 7pm

Do the club have to wait for league approval before announcing?

If there has been a signing and the OS has simply not reported it, the OS editor should be sacked - but can't believe that is what has happened. Pardew said to The Echo he wanted 3 players, so if he hasn't made a signing he is not doing his job. As for Jaidi, who we are told can be signed after the window because he's a free agent, if he is so good, how is it no one else seems to want him?

Could this be the beginning of the pressure on Pardew? How important will the next result be crucial for him?

Yes I agree with most of what you say but the Jaidi deal is done as understand awaiting a work permit

Your right but I would go mental if she was 2 hours late!!! (now 19.00PM) 2 hours after the deadline.

Just calm down, relax, have a beer (or whatever your tipple is) and just wait. Like I said earlier, if there's nothing by the morning, feel free to slit your wrists. However, there could well be 1, 2, 3 or more signings, and it's taking time to do all the reports and photos etc. It doesn't matter how wound up you get, they will report what has happened or hasn't happened whenever they decide, and there's nothing any of us can do about it. So why stress. RELAX.

At this late stage it is very likely that we have run into a hitch and are obviously now out of time and any signings we do make will be loans with a view to a permanent move in January.

Hold your horses and be patient and all will be announced in time!

I agree Will but this link http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~1783822,00.html

Not one word has changed since 8am - and the title says Tranfer day update???

They're probably very busy!! And they probably want the suspense so we're all more excited when the news finally breaks....

Even if it turns out that we haven't signed anyone, what's the point in getting wound up about it?! There's nothing that any of us can do, and no amount of *****ing and complaining will make the situation any different from what it is. There are much worse things in the world to worry about....why can't people just enjoy supporting the team and have fun going to games etc., without finding something to whinge about all the time?!

Reread that article, but this time read it as an article from a club that is preparing its fanbase for the news that we wont sign anyone today.

Lots of "we hopes" and mentions of the players we have brought in so far.

I just cant believe the OS ain't updated us either way! its been well over 2 hours now and nothing! I think there to scared to admit they couldn't sign any one.

Well that's one way to look at it, if you're being negative. Or you could think positively....

Can't be arsed to read all the thread as just home but jesus is the whole thread full of drama queens?

If we have not lost Saga and Pardew can get him fired up like last weeks game for rest of season then that will be good. We lack pace up front but a team with Saga is better then a team without Saga.

We have had deals on this day which have taken fecking ages to be announced such as Stern John at midnight.

The fact we have not heard anything official makes me think something is going on. Normally you get the whole "we tried to sign xyz but in the end xyz happened". It could be we are talking with the FA about the forms etc, maybe they are waiting to decide on permits etc etc. We have obviously not signed lots of players but we didn't need to. We needed at least 1 striker of pace, that is what we needed. The rest would of been a bonus.

Anyone thinking we will get relegated based on the last few performances are loco and just looking to create negativity.

Didn't have to be done by today, he is a free agent I believe so can be signed anytime, as long as no-one else has snapped him up. Wouldn't be surprised to see some loanees coming in as well. The problem with Deadline day is that it is something hyped up by Sky to boost ratings, in practice the deadline day only really applies to the Premier****. The emergency loan system allows signings to continue and this is when you will see Prem teams loaning out their fringe players.

Being the ever positive... no news may be good news. If they had signed nobody then they could have flipped the switch on an update at 17:01 or even earlier. The fact that they have not done this suggests (a) they have signed someone but want him at SMS in a Saints shirt for the web pic before they announce it or (b) they didn't sign anyone in time but hope to get Jaidi later tonight as a consolation prize for the fans.

There are quite possibly entirely reasonable explanations that could cover most of your points.

It is one thing Pardew identifying targets and making approaches to them. But then there are quite possibly other clubs making approaches for the same players. And then those players have to want to come here, require medicals etc. Looking at the other side of the coin, a couple of players, Saga and Schneiderlin were expected to leave and yet might be staying. Rumours about Gillet have not yet been proven. The whole transfer deadline day is up in the air, as sometimes a player does not become available until his club signs a replacement.

As for Jaidi, we made enquiries and found that there were work permit issues, or perhaps Indefinite Leave to Remain Visa issues, as he has been here for over 5 years, so could qualify to stay. Because of these issues, there was little point in any other club making a move for him, was there, until those issues are resolved? Even then, Jaidi has apparently been training here, probably likes the facilities and the area and provided that he gets a decent deal, could well consider this a good club to be with.

As for pressure on Pardew, I believe that once the circumstances are known about who we were after, why they didn't sign, etc, I for one will accept that at the moment, based on improving recent performances, we are not far adrift in turning the corner. And we are still able to take players on emergency loan and others out of contract. It isn't time to panic just yet.

But now we're not a PL club with its own website run by the club....

... did we not join in with the rest of the football league in getting our website run centrally?? If so then they will be working on the CCC websites & Notts County first as they probably pay the most for the service.

Lets hope AP is trawling through those who are without a contract and see who is worth a trial. As I posted on the HCDAJFU thread, I see Quincy Owusu-Abeyie was on trial at Bristol City - might be worth a look (not sure if he's out of contract or we would need to loan him for now)

Look at it this way, an article saying we haven't signed anyone would take, what, 5 minutes? An article saying we've signed 1 or more players, having to get all the info together on previous clubs, goals, playing records etc, as well as interviews and photos, could quite easily take hours.

P for patience.

I don't think that's the case - i believe we're now focusing on loans, couple of things we were working on didn't come off. Mainly due to one of our players haggling about and Notts County popping their head round the door (hello saga)

that's all i've heard in the past hour. also been told that loans cannot be made untill after next monday now. - still time for me to be proven wrong though (i hope i am tbf, as we are crying for pace....)

I wonder why saga didn't go to nott's? anyone any idea?

I don't think an official bid was made, more so a phone call between clubs and agents, which stalled something which was going to happen (and subsequently stopped it happening at all)

again, all that i've been told - not saying it's 100%, just thought i'd share.
