Saintandy666 Posted 30 August, 2009 Posted 30 August, 2009 So Alex Turner is about to rack up his 4th number 1 album(with Miles Kanes' help in Last Shadow Puppets) in as many years and he's only 23. Three of them have been mercury nominated, maybe this will be the 4th... who knows?? But what I want to say is, has anyone heard Humbug and if you have, what do you think of it? I think it's really different to the first one and quite different to the second. At first I didn't really like it but after several listens it's really grown on me and I think it's absolutely brilliant, heavier than the others and really shows the Arctics versatility and Turner's genius. I love it But no doubt this will que a load of people ranting about how they are overrated and ****.
Junction 9 Posted 30 August, 2009 Posted 30 August, 2009 They are a brilliant and very talented band IMO. One of the best this country has at present.
Ludwig Posted 30 August, 2009 Posted 30 August, 2009 new album is ****. second album average. first slightly better than average. TLSP between the first and second albums in terms of quality.

saint_bert Posted 31 August, 2009 Posted 31 August, 2009 Their the only indie band I give the time f day The second album I got the feelng they were going down a heavier avenue in the future Teaming up with Josh Homme was a wise move. Humbug has QOTSA written all over it All in all I really like the album
Thedelldays Posted 31 August, 2009 Posted 31 August, 2009 Arctic Monkeys seem to be something people either love or are just a bit meh about. I love them. thing is..with music it IS about opinions..there is no right or wrongs.. I remember back in 1995(ish) when Oasis brought out Whats The Story, Morning Glory and then, it hype was mental and it sold out everywhere (dont forget, there was no intenet for that sort of thing).. Clearly now and at the time, it was a sensational album with brilliant tracks on it..people then (although not many) were saying it was **** and Oasis were overrated...
saint_bert Posted 31 August, 2009 Posted 31 August, 2009 Humbug is awesome, fact. Best album they've done. Have to agree. And after watching their Reading set they really have a look of a band who are top of their game. The guy on guitar looks like rob Flynn with that hair though!
Sidney Fudpucker the 3rd Posted 31 August, 2009 Posted 31 August, 2009 Humbug is a major disappointment
SuperMikey Posted 31 August, 2009 Posted 31 August, 2009 No complaints from me, not vastly different from Favourite Worst Nightmare, but still good. Pretty Visitors is class. Had I not been on safari for the past week and a half, I would've been at Reading seeing them
saint_bert Posted 2 September, 2009 Posted 2 September, 2009 No complaints from me, not vastly different from Favourite Worst Nightmare, but still good. Pretty Visitors is class. Had I not been on safari for the past week and a half, I would've been at Reading seeing them I would day the major difference would be that FWN had many more singalong type songs. Teddy picker, Florescent adolecent and Brainstorm for example. Humbug is by far my favourite album so far of the year. Sorry Maiden!
