There are some really tiresome 'fans' on here....or 'loyal' fans, according to Lordswoodsaint, them sets out to run the team, and managment down.....Window cleaner wants to sack AP........you really couldn't make it up.

 

You really do have to give it some time guys.......only the same whinging few on here, expect to be promoted this season....most of us are realistic (happy clappers according to the yoof), and promotion, if it happens this season, will be a bonus. FFS, on the managers back after a handfull of games..........you really couldn't make it up.

I have been looking at the stats for L1 for the last 5 seasons and to survive in this league you need on average 50 points so that's 60 points because of the -10.

 

We are averaging 0.6 points per game at the moment but need to be getting 1.3,more than double just to survive.

 

This is achievable but to all those numpties who say we will be pushing for a playoff place,you need to wind down your expectations.

 

So I go back to my original post.......at the moment we just ain't good enough.

 

Obviously this can improve,and I am confident things will get a bit better but make no bones about it,we will be struggling all season and kicking around the bottom three.

Last season, was a disaster by dint of one man and his 'vision'.

 

Thankfully he has gone and we might now concentrate on running a club like every other club in the land.

 

We have appointed the best manager we could afford. We have backed him financially.

 

Let's see if using the same strategy as every other succesful club now pays dividends...

 

Certainly, after five games is a bit rich to be suggesting that it isn't working.

When AP arrived in JUly he talked about needing to bring in 'one or two' players and that he would be looking at Bosmans and free transfers. Maybe he thought the squad was better then it was and maybe the owners had placed a tough limit on spending. Since then the transfers have been good, but not enough of them, and the two loans suggests the transfer budget is still being kept tight. AP must know by now that there is not enough quality in the squad. The niaivity at Stockport when the team failed to keep possession of the ball in the final minutes, speaks for itself.

The necessary response has been obvious for the last two weeks ar least - that we need to spend to improve and so far we haven't spent enough. This is not about AP as a manager, it is about the transfer policy.

 

Spending is not a strategy on it's own, unless you want to go bust again! It's about precisely the opposite of your theory actually i.e. management and careful transfers of people who are actually better than what we have. By and large our transfers in so far have been precisely that. Don't forget we do actually have a few very decent players on our books already. Lets think management, tactics and familiarity now......

Spot on. Just like yesterday where we were done by literally the last kick of the match, maybe next week we will be the ones scoring a last minute winner - would make a change!

 

It is going to take time; as I have commented on previous posts, we were an absolute shambles of a football club over the summer months, and it is simply ridiculous to expect the players to simply forget about it.

 

However AP knows this is his biggest challenge and he will have to try and work out how he can instil a winning mentality in a squad that is, frankly, used to winning once in a blue moon.

You were saying "give it time" when Wigley was manager and helped relegate us to CCC, you were again saying "give it time" last season when JP got us relegated to L1.

 

So please excuse us if we want to vent against another poor start to the season - you accuse some of the "want it now gang" of being boring yet your sole contribution to the forum is to moan about the moaners!!

I'm pretty sure if we drew every game until then and won every game afterwards we would still be safe.

 

The point is that five games into a five year plan is a great time to rethink the entire strategy, don't you think...
