surrey1saint Posted 29 August, 2009 Posted 29 August, 2009 I will get slated for saying this.............but there are some real crybabies on here. We are getting better, we have got better players in, we have got a better manager in, we have got a better owner in.......however, some on here want our fortunes to change overnight, it's taken us 6/7 years to reach this position, it's not going to change in 6/7 weeks. Some on here, need to take a chill pill, and let the new guys make their mark. The last thing they need, is all you so called 'loyal' fans, getting on their backs...................be patient ffs. Too right.

Sidney Fudpucker the 3rd Posted 29 August, 2009 Posted 29 August, 2009 It's times like this that I wish the club had folded. At least I wouldn't have to endure this **** every Saturday afternoon.
St Lightjaw Posted 29 August, 2009 Posted 29 August, 2009 :smt017 Well .... Brighton have only taken 2 points from 15. I'm sure they're looking over their backs at us tonight sweating.* **no rude Brighton poofy pun intended.
teamsaint Posted 29 August, 2009 Posted 29 August, 2009 Sounds as though we are, slowly, heading in the right direction. However, to blame a dodgy late pen is missing the point. If the ball is in your box, bad things can, and do happen. We spent the last couple of minutes far too deep, and paid the price. Still, win our next four at home and it will all look better!!

AndyNorthernSaints Posted 29 August, 2009 Posted 29 August, 2009 Indeed. A coincidence that his best game of the season so far was in the League Cup ??? Lallana played well today.
Thedelldays Posted 29 August, 2009 Posted 29 August, 2009 not good enough..simple as that...no excuses
egreog Posted 29 August, 2009 Posted 29 August, 2009 I may be in the minority, but I think the club is slowly going in the right direction and IF we can draw away games and WIN home games then I believe this early season stuttering will improve quite quickly.........it was never going to be an instant fix whoever took over this nightmare..........but to dream of playoffs is totally unreasonable........its going to be a long hard slog to get into credit and perhaps off the bottom of the league by January......though I feel a first home victory may well be the catalyst to confidence and more positive results
JoeShmoe Posted 29 August, 2009 Posted 29 August, 2009 not good enough..simple as that...no excuses Exactly - all this getting better boll*cks. Stockport have NO money, about 20 full time players (most of them kids) and are relegation material. We still couldnt beat them When we play a team like Leeds or Charlton and get dicked on 4-0 maybe some of these 'we are getting a little teensy witty bit better' doughnuts will realise that were utter gash Oh and 1/8th of the season has gone already and were 11 points from saftey

Block 5 Posted 29 August, 2009 Posted 29 August, 2009 Make no mistake....This is nothing to do with bad luck or dodgy refs.... We are simply NOT up to the job. We are weak, both physically and mentally. And the longer this goes on, the worse it will get. By now, the younger members of the squad will be thinking that we will never win. And with that kind of loser mentality we will sink to league 2 and then disappear. We are 5 games into the season and there is little or no improvement. As far as I am concerned, the honeymoon is over. I am sick of hearing excuses.... I want f*cking results!

Tokyo-Saint Posted 29 August, 2009 Posted 29 August, 2009 Lloyd James, played well today in central midfield,so did wayne thomas and trotman. saganowski's goal should have stood, and the pen was after the added 3 mins, but saints should have scored a 2nd easily. 2 points lost, bad trip home

Is there a direct flight to Japan from Stockport?
Block 5 Posted 29 August, 2009 Posted 29 August, 2009 The people who went to the game seem to think differently on the whole (or are you going to tell me you were there too?) I wasn't there Kev, just got back from holiday. I just spoke to my mate who is on the coach on the way back and he is absolutely gutted. Yet again Saints threw away points at the death of the game. Yes, we played ok and bossed the game but come on mate, this is Stockport County FFS! We gave them their point on a platter. To be honest mate, it's pretty irrelevant if we improved slightly; ultimately we bottled it. Kev, we were in the play offs for the Prem a couple of years ago, and now we're getting beaten by the likes of Huddersfield and Swindon! I keep having to pinch myself to check I'm not living in some kind nightmare cooked up by a fish fiddling version of Dante!

I walked away from the radio (PC actually) in injury time because I couldn't bear it. Came back when I thought it was over only to catch the last 15 seconds. I am sure I waited 3 minutes?! But reading the "Back from the game" thread does cheer me up a little. At times like this you have to take the crumbs of comfort when you can. We all have to deal with our disappointment somehow. I get all bad tempered with the innocents around me, and some post rants about fitness, not good enough, blah blah....each to his own I suppose. I am off for a curry and a few glasses of vino ;-)

Window Cleaner Posted 29 August, 2009 Posted 29 August, 2009 Minus 7 points - with a f**king mountain to climb still. Unless we get a couple of real quality signings in early next week - it's gonna be a long hard winter. W4ankers. Thought 3 points were ours today. Should have known better. We're Southampton after all... Quality signings won't come to a club that's going to scrap it's way to safety this season. Liebherr needed to splash the cash the moment he got into the door, appoint a "football man" to run the club not a swiss banker. Got any cash yet Tony ?,bet ML would sell for 15 million in cash.

Oh wise one, who should we have appointed as a chairman? It's all so easy this running a football club malarky isn't it. Please come back when you have a clue.
ART Posted 29 August, 2009 Posted 29 August, 2009 This was the game Pardew told the players they had to win. Well, they didn't and we're further off the bottom four places than at any time in our history. It's not minus 10 points to zero but the need to get 12 points to get out of the bottom 4 relegation berths. 22 points off the top two places. And there are idiots on here saying that things are improving. Don't make me p i ss myself laughing! One year ago the same optimists were saying "JAN CAN COOK" and a year before "GEORGE CAN TELL NO LIES" Well I'm telling them that ALAN CAN'T BAKE and we're being roasted alive! We have the players but we have a half baked manager who's marketing himself as BURLEY MARK 2. It just ain't good enough and even WOTTE or JAN would have done better with the squad we've got. They didn't have the luxury of the big bucks owner. My heart bleeds for Jan as there were few as honourable as that guy at the clun. Alan Perrin, Alan n'est PAS DIEU. Just look at the clowns he's brought in as a backroom team. Not enough time? He's supposed to be a pro, he's got all he wants, a billionaire backer, a super club, a top academy, first class training facilities, a superb stadium, a top class supporter base, and a squad of more than capable players. It's not right, he's got it all wrong and ****ing off players rather than motivating them. Gone by the end of November. Even Wigley had more chance of survival. And where is the big surprise that Nicolas Cortese promised 3 weeks ago when he said the supporters would be over the moon with what was planned in two weeks. Even Brighton are beginning to do better, and in League the Cherries are in the top 3 without a penny to spend. Disgusted and disillusioned.

sfc6mufc3 Posted 29 August, 2009 Posted 29 August, 2009 Some of the comments on here are amazing. Just look at what you are typing. "our first away points" "we are improving" "things can only get better" FFS guys we are in div 1 and should be beating the likes of Swindon, Brentford and Stockport - there are harder teams coming up. I accept these comments if we had gone up into the prem and the three team I mentioned were West Ham, Chelsea or Villa - are we going to be saying the same next year " yes we did really well beating Burton at home 1-0 becuase they are a good team"?????????? We have a VERY experienced manager who has managed at the highest level - possibly the most experienced in the league. We have the best keeper in the division (imo) We have the leagues top scorer last season in Lambert WE SHOULD BE DOING BETTER !!!!!!!!!!!!
homesick-saint Posted 29 August, 2009 Posted 29 August, 2009 It's not the end of the world. Another improved performance. Getting to grips with direct teams just need to start killing off games, thats 9 points missed out on (Millwall, Stockport, Brentford) Pardew will work on that in training. Lloyd James & Hammond bossing the middle what we needed. Improved from set pieces. Mellis sounded not too in the game, still need a wide man. Due a couple of good results. Still unbeaten at home. spot on post imho

As for, "and ****ing off players rather than motivating them", is this based on knowledge or pure speculation ? Disagree about Wigley having any chance of survival;he had no track record and was clearly out of his depth whereas Pardew does have success at Reading and West Ham to speak of (lets forget the Charlton debacle - even the now high flying Redtw^tt failed at one club ). Finally,I think the Cortese interview was in advance of the Lambert signing which elated most fans at the time.

Leicestersaint Posted 29 August, 2009 Posted 29 August, 2009 In my view we should be knocking in 3 or 4 goals against the sort of opposition we are playing - Swindon, Brentford, Stockport, etc. We are like a misfiring engine at the moment, splutter,s plutter. :smt116
alpine_saint Posted 29 August, 2009 Posted 29 August, 2009 didn't take long to slag off the billioinaire owner, who finally got rid of all the others, and has put money into the club. pathetic. Nobody has slagged ML off in my opinion. BUT : There does seem to be a large dose of history repeating itself going on. The team has made sod-all progress over the last 6 weeks in my opinion, despite money being spent on it, and the site is beginning to split itslef along the tired-old opinion lines of last season and the season before it. WHY ??? FFS, what exactly IS the drag factor on this clubs progress ??? And, like ART, am beginning to wonder if I am feeling deja vu from the Burley era...
anothersaintinsouthsea Posted 29 August, 2009 Posted 29 August, 2009 ....we should be walking this league. honestly some of you should grow some balls and stop panicing.
teamsaint Posted 29 August, 2009 Posted 29 August, 2009 Those who are busy having a go at the new regime would do well to contemplate where we were just a few weeks ago. A team thart had been hopeless for two years. Years and years of chaos off the pitch in all the important areas.(coaching, scouting, boardroom etc) A team probably the worst in the CCC shorn of at least two of its best players, and with a number of others who really don't want to be here. Yes, what we really need after 5 games is to have a go at our (thank you god!) billionaire owner, and a manger we could only have dreamed of getting two months ago. Its going to be a long long road back, and we really have to be very patient. AP will have us going in the right direction soon. Happy to be a "happy Clappy " for a while!!
Kingsbridge Saint Posted 29 August, 2009 Posted 29 August, 2009 Going down unless we win some matches this season. We weren't robbed - we simply didn't score the second goal to finish the game. We are responsible. Not the referee. we need to buck up sharpish. I am still unhappy that Thomas is starting because when he gets injured it is going to unsettle our back 4. Someone should tell Pards he's a serial sick note waiting to happen.
St Marco Posted 29 August, 2009 Posted 29 August, 2009 Just back from a long trip home and have to say am not shocked to read what people have wrote. Have come to expect it from people on this board really. The best word to describe it would be "numpties". People who have no idea what being a supporter means. Those people saying we were rubbish etc make me laugh because they clearly were not at the game and have no idea of how we are playing or what has happened. Today was one of our best performances for a longtime. We dominated the game from start to finish. Our midfield were solid and our defence had almost nothing to do. Our wingers were crossing the ball into the box of which 2 times we hit the crossbar from. Everytime they had a set piece they never looked like doing anything with it. Davis had like 1 save to make all game. We had loads and loads of chances and on another day we would of won 0-5. The ref was the worst ref i have seen in my life and must have been on drugs or something. We should of had 2 other penalties, Mellis was brought down in the box after a quality run and was one of the most obvious penalties i have ever seen. Ref did not give anything our way. When we got our penalty he had to give it simply down to the amount of mistakes he made prior to it. Their penalty was a disgrace. The rule says the hand must go to ball not ball to hand. All he did was sort of mis hit the ball and it bounced up and hit his arm. Was not diverting a shot from goal, was nothing and the ref should be sacked for it. This week people have been talking about players cheating like Eduardo well what is different about that? Is that not cheating? Overall i am very happy with our performance just sick at the way the ref ****ed it up. It was as if he was waiting to give something to them because of the penalty he gave to us. Looking back on the games i watched last season i am delighted at the change around in performances. Even from just 2 league games ago things have improved loads. League One is a hard league and if we play like that every week until the end of the season we will win most of our games by far. The reason we lost today was down to a crap referee nothing more. So those who are having a go are just stupid, really stupid and a fine example of the scum who have made football into what it is today. The quick to fire people muppets who think everything will be solved by bringing in a new guy every few days.... Those who actually have supported the club over the past few seasons know we are a club only a couple of months out of admin, coming down with a poor over sized squad left with a shell of a club, with next to no coaches, next to no scouts etc. We are having to build up and the only way you will progress is to improve week after week. Those who have watched our games will see that we are now better then we were on the 1st day of the season. With 1 or 2 new faces who can add a bit of pace we will be a good team. So it's not about being a "happy clappy" it's about not being an "unrealistic moaning ****". Because right now we are a better side then we have been in the past 2 seasons. And that is down to just a few players Pardew has brought in. If he could do that in just a month then imagine what he can do in 12? But of course some of you might be right, we should get on the phone to Fergie, see if he wants to be our manager....

WHY ??? FFS, what exactly IS the drag factor on this clubs progress ??? And, like ART, am beginning to wonder if I am feeling deja vu from the Burley era... Then your opinion is wrong. You're one of about four people who cannot see the progress we've made.
mUrph Posted 29 August, 2009 Posted 29 August, 2009 p.s. Just watched the football league show. Stockports penalty was bull****.
S4INT Posted 30 August, 2009 Posted 30 August, 2009 p.s. Just watched the football league show. Stockports penalty was bull****. Goal that was 'offside'... LOL not even nearly
NN2 Saint Posted 30 August, 2009 Posted 30 August, 2009 The problem is it's already saying it's getting better but looking at the league table we have an absolute mountain to climb games at home to Brentford and away to Stockport we simply HAVE to win and it now means thats another month when you will view the league table and see SFC bottom.
DirkThunder Posted 30 August, 2009 Posted 30 August, 2009 Make no mistake....This is nothing to do with bad luck or dodgy refs.... What rubbish. Saints played ok yesterday and starting to look a good unit. They were totally on top until a poor decision by the ref. Not sure yesterday where the 'loser mentality' was displayed, i did not see it.
Gingeletiss Posted 30 August, 2009 Posted 30 August, 2009 Just back from a long trip home and have to say am not shocked to read what people have wrote. Great post......from a 'true' fan. Well done mate.

I am more excited than I have been in a long while!! Yes, this is a season of rebuilding, but it is a big step forward to having the new solid infrastructure at the club we have been craving!!!! This team is going places

I don't understand it  http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/rules_and_equipment/4524354.stm In Fifa's Laws of the Game 2005, Law 12 says a free-kick or penalty will be awarded if a player "handles the ball deliberately (except for the goalkeeper within his own penalty area)". However, the document fails to describe what constitutes deliberate handball, which places the responsibility firmly on the referee and referees' assistants.
John B Posted 30 August, 2009 Posted 30 August, 2009 I can't buy this fitness stuff. How can a goal like that be about fitness? More like an inability to kill the game of with a second or third goal more like. That is the problem I agree surely the players are good enough I dont think I would want many of the Stockport/Brentford players in our team

So what happened to the positive Alpine who posted after the Birmingham game " I can go back to Austria on Thursday knowing we are heading in the right direction"? Don't tell me you are jumping on the bandwagon of doom and gloom merchants? Yes its very disappointing and most are absolutely gutted but we are turning it all round.

It seems a little like last season pretty football but no wins. Surely 3 points out of 15 no wins is not going to make fans be happy and positive. Every week I think we will win the next game but so far we have not and I feel with the squad we have we should be winning. We wanted a CB Striker and CM and everything would be OK WE have them and now we need more and everything will be OK well it maybe but there should be no excuses if we fail to win our next game
