Thorpe-le-Saint Posted 28 August, 2009 Share Posted 28 August, 2009 I know we've discussed this on here before (probably) but what is their problem! I was wearing a Saints polo shirt today in Colchester town centre, sat outside the pub when some bloke walked past and said, to be fair to him, without malice asked "Alright Scummer?" I replied with a simple and jovial (sp?) "Pompey are ya?" I recieved the reply: "Na mate, Bournemouth." I just chuckled to myself and continued drinking my cider. Do these people think we have a rivalry with them/care about them? Anyway, that's that off my chest.
Dog Posted 28 August, 2009 Share Posted 28 August, 2009 You should've have smashed him in the eye socket with your pint glass after he had said finished his sentence. What cider was it ?

Pat from Poole Posted 28 August, 2009 Share Posted 28 August, 2009 When Saints were in the Prem, for Saints home games the trains from Weymouth would be half-full with Saints fans by the time the trains got to Bournemouth. You'd have quite a few coming from Charmouth, Weymouth, Dorchester and particularly Poole. If any Bournemouth fans happened to be on the train for their home games they'd be really bitter about the number of Saints fans living nearer Bournemouth than Southampton being on the train. Despite our demise, we are still massively more well-supported than them, even though they said we would get creowds of 5,000 in Div 3. They are a bunch of bitters. Yeah i esed to get on at bournemouth and there was always plenty of saints aleady on the train. Bmth fans are'nt too bad, i've only ever git light hearted stick from them, they are jealous , but not hate filled, well maybe just a few.
sambosa75 Posted 29 August, 2009 Share Posted 29 August, 2009 My Dad went to Wembley a few years ago to watch Newcastle in an FA Cup final. He got talking to a group of Bournemouth fans on the train back down to Southampton. They told him "in Bournemouth, we call Southampton fans 'Scummers'... what do they call us?" He replied "to be honest, I dont think they've ever really thought about you!"
errol_slymm Posted 30 August, 2009 Share Posted 30 August, 2009 I'm from Poole too and get some stick from Bmth fans. As I tell them, no-one cares enough about AFCB to hate them. They have no local rivalry so they try to claim one with saints where none exists. You see about the same amount of saints shirts as you do cherries ones round here although there have been a few more blue skate shirts surfacing in the past couple of years... but very few. There used to be a fair bit of rivalry betweeen Weymouth and Bournemouth when I lived there in the 80's. Pre-season friendlies etc
Mr Saints Posted 31 August, 2009 Share Posted 31 August, 2009 League 2/Conference size club and fan base. Although their manager looks quite handy.

Crab Lungs Posted 31 August, 2009 Share Posted 31 August, 2009 I would love Bournemouth to implode more than Portsmouth in some respects. Odious little club supported by trainspotters and chavs.
