Replacement for Rasiak

Rasiak was a slow, hold up striker with a great goalscoring record..... we have already replaced HIM, its called Ricky Lambert.

We need someone to replace the fast, quick striker that always partners the big man. Last year we had BWP and perhaps McGoldrick in this mould. We still need to sign someone who has these attributes. Maybe a loan is the answer???

not sure McGoldrick was ever a pcey striker, but I agree with your sentiments on needin something completely different from Lambert - ie not a big number 9.

I think Lallana could do a good job as lamberts foil personally

you have to be joking..when lambert flicks the ball on etc, he needs to have a striker who can pick it up and hold off the oaf defenders in this league..

last sat..paterson failed to do it...saga did which in turn allowed attacks to form like we saw in the 2nd half..

lallana will not have a hope in hell in this league in being lamberts partner for game after game....lambert also does not have the pace should lallana drop off and try to play a through ball...infact, the more I write this post the more I am convinced you have no idea what you are on about..

I think he could too and at this moment in time I reckon it'd be his best position. Shame his shooting is so pathetic most of the time though.

Going forward, I'd like the see someone with a bit of pace up with Lambert - as much as anything to stop the the oppo back 4 holding such a high line against us, compressing space and making it easier so them to hassle and harry us from the front (something that Huddersfield and Swindon both did very well). It would also give Lambert more space to work in when he drops deeper to get the ball to feet.

No reason when Lallana can't do it if Pardew wants Lambert to play the traditional target man role, someone to hit and play with his back to goal.

Lol, says the man who is trying to convince me that having TWO target men upfront is the way forward ??

Lambert recieves the ball, whether he flicks, holds the ball up or whatever, he is the man there to hold off the oafish defenders, but you will have more luck if you also have a man upfront that has a different dimension to his game. Ask any bigish center half, they would much prefer playing against the big players then the smaller nippy strikers.

Lambert needs someone to play off of him, it is a classic partnership that many teams employ because it works well.

Lallana can show the trickery and industry and the differing dimension to a big hulking Lambert.

What is the point of lambert holding the ball up, passing it to another striker to hold the ball up ?? And so on exactly ?? It is not like we have pace on the wings to move up around the back ??

Don't insult me by saying i clearly have no clue when obviously your own opinion is so very flawed.

Edit - I do agree that you will have to stop lallana dropping back if this is the case, ideally i would rather a new, pacey, goal hungry striker, just saying i think AL can do a job there

I wasn't there on Saturday, but in contrast, last Tuesday Lambert won about 15 flick-ons (against a decent standard "Premier League" defensive pairing) and Saga got nowhere near about 14 of them.

I don't care whether we sign a 7 footer or a 5 footer as long as someone actually bloody reads that Lambert is going to flick the ball on all day long and actually runs for it.

vokes on loan?

or is he getting a game at wolves?

we could get both Surman and Vokes on loan - they're both Saints fans and neither is getting a game at Wolves in the Premiership!

(I'm joking about Suran of course but Wolves did say something about loaning Vokes out to a lower league club for a year for his development)

we do need a pacy striker to play with Lambert and replace Saga if he leaves - as already said Lambert was a replacement for Rasiak

Ideally we need 4 strikers - Lambert, Paterson, Saga and ?

so at least one more (2 if Saga leaves)

I have a feeling Lallana's best position will be as a second striker playing off Lambert

I'd like to see us bring in someone like Tyson or Craddock

A front line from Lambert, Paterson, Craddock and Lallana would do for now

More worryingly we need a right back to replace Murty and free up James to play in midfield (his best position by a long long way)

That would improve with more experience of playing together.

well, he did last sat against league 1 opposition when he came on and allowed us to attack more and more instead of the ball coming straight back to us...

im sure the more they play together the better they will come..
