Hope AP and NC are very busy tying up deals as we speak as we really already needed a winger(Gradl possibly),cover right back(ifil rumours),centre back(Jaidi).

Now we need at least 1 striker/2 if Saga goes as we cant rely on Lambert,Patterson and White as we would only have 1 proven striker and 2 novices!!If Lambert got injured we would get relegated imho without cover.A striker must now be a huge priority before Tues.Yes we could get a loan in but I'd prefer a few permanent signings and not all loans!!

If Morgan goes we could also do with another central midfielder as we don't want Wotton playing there every week!!We could get Ifil in and then use James in midfield and Thomas as cover at right back.

So we need at least 4 additions to have a competitive team/squad for this league.

Lets hope we can get the right players before Tues

Rasiak hardly a loss as at times he makes Berbatov look like a workhorse and Schneiderlin didnt look up for it in the championship let alone Div 1 another terrible buy Saga next no doubt. Get some in with some heart and who want to play for the club.

I can see the POV of the French coach if im honest.

He's not going to develop ''properly'' at this level because he's not the right type of player for hit and rush aggressive football. - Leave that for the likes of Hammond etc.

He would not look out of the place in the prem imo and anyone saying ''he's ****e'' really need to take a look at him closely.

I can't see us selling for under £2m and i can actually see a club paying top dollar for him, inc. apps/bonuses etc - because of his undoubted potential and future sell on.

Potential to be a good player but sadly is a player ruled by attitude. Every one decent game will be followed by 3 bad. For a central midfielder you can't really expect to do well with a player like that. You need someone who will be consistent and having 1 off day for every 3 good game not the other way round. We need a strong central midfielder who will chip in with goals. Having now played 31 games he has yet to score.

So i don't think it will be a loss for us. If he was at his peak setting up goals and scoring them which i have no doubt he wil eventually do then it would be a loss. But he is not that player yet, nowhere near it. We need players who can perform now. We should no longer been in a position where we have to play youngsters but players who are good enough to be there.

So goodluck Morgan hope it works out for you.

he has no divine right to leave just because he could progress he should never have signed for us in the first place if this is the reason

have you been following football lately..well, in the last 5 years or so..?

Morgan is a quality player as I have said since I first saw him play after he signed. Will one day(perhaps very soon) be a Premiership or top flight european League player, "perhaps" even in the French senior squad. The French Football association rate him very highly hence why he is captain of the under 20 team. The under 21 manager wants him to be playing at a higher level to improve his development. You really have no idea.

I agree the French are not exactly mugs at picking out talented players and this is very disappointing news. As someone has already mentioned this opens the door for Wotton but maybe Gillett will get a seat on the bench.

If it had been Stuart Pearce advising Lallana to leave then who would care? Some disappointing reaction's and once again shows a lack of patience and need to build a team with young players of real potential.

If Schneiderlin was as 'classy' and talented as he is made out to be - then he would stand out & simply shine each & every game - just about. But I don't see that...

A bit like Matt Le Tissier's international career...sorry wrong thread, but I hope you get my point.;)

Schneiderlin reminds me of Anders Svensson, promised lots but delivered little. Bafflingly like Svensson he seems to have a hardcore fan base here despite doing nothing in a Saints shirt.

Unlike Rasiak I wont be bothered to see him move on - as long as we can get a decent CM replacement.

I can't comment on Schneiderlin... but I do number myself as one of the Anders Svensson fan base you mentioned.

Seeing him on Swedish TV every week, (where his Elfsborg side are currently in one of the top places) he is superb as a playmaker, and has whacked in a few class goals this season already..and he's still only 33...and just passed 90 caps for Sweden.

Agreed he didn't always shine for Saints, but I think you'd agree that if you play ANYONE out of their natural position then they won't perform well either.

you heard from your girlfriends boyfriend ?

lol whatever next

Aha you haven't been keeping up, my girl=my daughter ,a national standard athlete, her friend = another olympic group athlete=boyfriend france U20s footballer=team mate of Morgan's

got that?

But then MLT apart who has shone for Saints these last 10 years or so, we take good players and turn them into crap in it's purest state. We have underlying problems that just won't go away. They came with SMS and will go away when the^place is bulldozed and turned into a parking lot.

Schneiderlin has vision and is a good passer of the ball, his problem has been the narrow system we employed.

If we play two quick wide players hugging the touchlines his passing will tear teams apart.

Kindly **** off. It's really ****ing me off now

Then he is achieving his goal.......put him on ignore or disregard everything he posts...works for me as I realised ages ago that was his game.

He does not mean half of what he posts but knows it winds some up on here.

Trouble is, as soon as he realises he's talking to himself, he reappears with another persona. They're all on my ignore list!!!

+1

He is the most talented player in our squad by far and will go on to have the best career out of anyone in our team.

Had potential ... but another Lowe legacy player leaving is fine by me.

HAD??? ffs how old is he?

Main problem is he is still very young, only moved from his home country 12 months ago. He is not showing form to be a starter all season, but to write him off show f a knowledge.

He needs to be in good side - and eased in

We are very good at this club, in letting players go, before they reach their potential.......the list of success story's after leaving/being shown the door, is a long one indeed. IMO, he should be kept, i think he is a rough diamond..

How do you put someone on ignore? I'm sad to say that 19C is close to being my first (oooeerrr!).

He said: “The hard part for me as a manager is the international managers saying they won’t be selected if they are playing in this division.

“I think that’s a terrible thing to say and I don’t think it’s fair. It’s insulting."

I disagree with Pardew on this one. If England were picking players from League One we (as England fans) would be pontificating that League One wasn't a good enough stamping ground for international players.

Lets face it most of the English outfield players come from the top 6 or 7 Teams anyway

Yep, especially these days. I recall there being a bit of a hoo-ha when Steve Bull was selected whilst in the second tier though.

We have picked 3rd tier players for the age representative sides (the full side if your going back to the Steve Bull days). The Peterborough goalkeeper playing at U19 and U21 level the most recent of those.

Lets face it, the FFF know their stuff. Their system is used around the world as a model on how to produce talented footballers capable of winning world cups. If they say playing L1 football will hinder his development, I believe them. They also rate him hugely and I tend to agree with them rather than the opinions of some of us fans. The question remains why we at Southampton have not got him to perform at the level which clearly he is capable.

If every week he turned out and gave majestic performances the French would not have an issue. From their point of view they see one of their greatest future talents not performing as they expect and as such their advice is obvious........move to a club/league that promotes your talent.

Personally I would hate to lose him as I think AP could be the man who gets this out of him. From his comments since becoming manager AP clearly rates him.

I have to say I remember it differently as back then it was very much if you're good enough to play, then who you play for had much less importance and didn't think Bully got any stick from hailing from the Third Tier (I may well be wrong, that's just how I perceived it).

If anything, I thought it was seen as refreshing that a loyal stalwart who could have moved up a few divisions was willing to help out his team in the lower divisions, yet could still play for England in the World Cup.

I think nowadays the lure of the very big money and the huge discrepancy between those in the Top Flight and the "rest" means that players gravitate more to the higher echelons than ever before and therefore it is assumed that only top flight players could/should play for England. A view I find rather parochial and as others have said something that doesn;t impact the Youth Teams and U-21's as much.

I accept that for full internationals of "major" countries it would probably be better for them to ply their trade in a higher league, but see nothing wrong with youngsters and/or lesser international players playing one, two or even three divisions down.

TBH I think Pardew has every right to be upset and for me this signing was wrong from the word go. Let's just hope we get some money in for him.

If the French U-21 team is any think like ours then most of the players will go no further up the ladder. Captain or not.

How many of the recent England U-21 teams have progreessed onwards

There are numerous players in the French U21 squad currently playing in Ligue 2 in France, I'd say English League One this year is a higher standard than that League.

Just for the record Tony Cascarino is still one and two in the most goals scored per season chart for the past 28 years in that league!

I rest my case.

Unfortunately your case is built on a false pretence, I don't think that there is a single french D2 player in the latest U21 squad for the Euro 2011 qualifiers. No league 2 club in France can hope to keep hold of a truly talented player.

There are a lot of africans (well african origin anyway) but L2, nope none at all.

French D2 is a very mediocre league but is probably comparable to League 1,however the players are paid far less (I heard the president of Clermont Foot say that the average monthly salary for his team (who are crap because Clermont is a rugby city) is about £8000,whilst there are no doubt some player in our League 1 who make that a week,Saga perhaps).

Edit: in fact there are 2 lads from Le Havre, I'd forgotten they got relegated, still all the same there is a lot of Monaco,PSG, Tottenham and Sochaux as well.

Cascarino claiming to be French now?!

If the French want to broker a big money transfer to a glamour club for any of our players that's fine by me, but them muttering in the corner isn't helpful.

The player is either in demand or he's staying put and showing what he's made of.

As for the Polish coach saying the Saga needs to be playing at a higher level, I think the Poles must have delusions of grandeur, they are one of the footballing pygmies of Europe and should be happy with players from any level of the professional game.

Apparently speculation in today's Nudes of the World that 'Arry Redcrapp is after signing him following the hints from the French manager that he ought to be playing higher league football if he wants to play for France again.

OK, let's tell Harold that he is not for sale and ensure that if he does go, we get a mega-buck return on him from cheque-book Redcrapp.

He hasn't exactly set the World on fire for us and I'm pretty certain that he will only be a bench warmer for the Spuds. I'm also thinking that if we got a lot for him, we could do better with the sort of replacements we would get for him.

Posted

If Old Twitchy bought Morgan at Spuds, I would dislocate my arse laughing. I really don't get the hype about thus guy. He has yet to register a goal for Saints and as of the Huddersfield game, hadn't got an assist either. He doesn't track back, tackle, move and according to the stats, he won 1 header in the whole of last season. Yet some people continue to be impressed by his "neat touches" and "great vision" despite the fact that they have thus far produced the square root of fook all.

Yes he is young and may well go on to have an exciting future. You could say that about any of them though. I have seen nothing to distinguish him from the likes of Dyer, Gobern, McLaggon, DMG, Gillett, James or any of our other recent academy products.
