The Majestic Channon Posted 27 August, 2009 Posted 27 August, 2009 Who cares, how many good games has he had for us? has never showed us why he was highly rated before we bought him.
15saints Posted 27 August, 2009 Posted 27 August, 2009 This has come around now because the French want to move him up to the u21s. It is amazing how all the experts (ie people who make their living from football) can be so wrong about his talent. They should listen to Saints fans really, shouldn't they?
Cabrone Posted 27 August, 2009 Posted 27 August, 2009 Schneiderlin reminds me of Anders Svensson, promised lots but delivered little. Bafflingly like Svensson he seems to have a hardcore fan base here despite doing nothing in a Saints shirt. Unlike Rasiak I wont be bothered to see him move on - as long as we can get a decent CM replacement.
Legod Third Coming Posted 27 August, 2009 Posted 27 August, 2009 Absolutely right. It does my head in when people claim the lower leagues are "more physical". There might be a bit more running around after the ball because the players aren't as good as keeping it but the notion that you need to be "harder" or prepared to indulge in thuggery is pure hokum. Let's have a look at the team tipped by many to win the Premier League this year: Carvallho Terry Alex Bosingwa Mikel Essien Ballack Drogba To people honestly believe they are "less physical" than the players in League One? The fact is that Schneiderlin may well discover some form if he leaves us, or he may not. He clearly has some raw talent, however his product for us has been largely disappointing and that has nothing whatsoever to do with what League we're in. It might be down to management, dispondency, lack of application, inability to perform in matches, being surrounded by poor players... whatever, but it's certainly not down to the superhuman physical prowess of lower league football teams. Spot on. There are physical players and lightweight players in every league. It's a question of whether the player wants to stand up and be counted and apply his talent by being STRONGER. This is not about being Terry Hurlock but about having the skill and strength of Steven Gerrard - I don't hear anyone calling him lightweight but then he probably had to fight his old man to get in after school... whereas Morgan was greeted by Mama with a nice Chardonnay...
Channon's Sideburns Posted 27 August, 2009 Author Posted 27 August, 2009 Schneiderlin would have been suited to us if we were still in the Prem - unfortunately Rupey Baby thought it was better to invest in Morgan than in other more important areas at the time... Just think...that £1.2M would have got us Rickie Lambert back in January...what could have been eh? Mind you, I did mention it at the time - it seems Rupert chose to ignore me....and also when Sam Vokes was mentioned whilst at Bournemouth. Ho Hum...
Wes Tender Posted 27 August, 2009 Posted 27 August, 2009 I wonder if we'll get our money back? If not, then his purchase may have been the one that pushed us into administration. Don't be silly, Whitey; that was me and those others who boycotted.
Whitey Grandad Posted 27 August, 2009 Posted 27 August, 2009 Don't be silly, Whitey; that was me and those others who boycotted. 'Every little helps'
Saints foreva Posted 27 August, 2009 Posted 27 August, 2009 Who cares, how many good games has he had for us? has never showed us why he was highly rated before we bought him. I would much rather have Morgan than Wotton in the heart of midfield. If Morgan leaves and we don't bring in a CM and continue to play Wotton - We will go down.
sussexsaint Posted 27 August, 2009 Posted 27 August, 2009 We seem to have an increasing number of positions to fill and less and less time to fill them
The Majestic Channon Posted 27 August, 2009 Posted 27 August, 2009 I would much rather have Morgan than Wotton in the heart of midfield. If Morgan leaves and we don't bring in a CM and continue to play Wotton - We will go down. Wotton being worse doesn't make morgan better....
Fowllyd Posted 27 August, 2009 Posted 27 August, 2009 Don't get me wrong he's very good on the ball but that's it really. He doesn't do enough defensively and he doesn't do enough going forward, I don't think i've ever seen him do anything important in either box. He was very good against Milwall but that's about it imo, I think he'd look a lot better and we'd get more out of him if we had two proper wingers for him to find with his diagonal balls. Wow! You must know him really well!
Wes Tender Posted 27 August, 2009 Posted 27 August, 2009 Schneiderlin has always flattered to deceive. Since he's been here, there have not been many matches when I thought to myself that he was better than many other players we have had recently. And if he doesn't want to be here, we ought to let him go, as we don't need sulky players here now. Provided we get back what we paid for him, that seems fair enough to me.
eurosaint Posted 27 August, 2009 Posted 27 August, 2009 Looks like Schneiderlin wants to go - Solent just confirmed on Twitter - apparently the French U21 manager has got involved and Morgan has expressed a desire to leave. Poor decision Morgan - disappointed. Also, Rasiak to Watford or Reading later today it is thought. Pardew has used the word 'dysfunctional' a couple of times in relation to the squad and the more these snippets come out, the more you begin to realise why !! I agree with most on here who say " if he wants away, let him go", it's pretty academic whether they have ability or not, basically they are 'bad apples spoiling the whole bunch' and right now we need only those who are entirely committed to the new regime at SMS !!!
Matthew Le God Posted 27 August, 2009 Posted 27 August, 2009 Just think...that £1.2M would have got us Rickie Lambert back in January...what could have been eh? We haven't paid anywhere near £1.2m for him. It would have been a small fee upfront with the rest based on extras. If we didn't buy him there would never have been £1.2m for Lambert in January.

Channon's Sideburns Posted 27 August, 2009 Author Posted 27 August, 2009 Totally agree Dave, dysfunctional and successful football teams are not phrases that go hand in hand!!! Strange isn't it...'dysfunctional'...and all of the players being talked about (Rasiak,Saga,Schneiderlin,Lallana) plus Stern John (already gone) all have one common denominator... LOWE Ras, Saga and John were all moved on by him whilst Rupey Baby peed what budget we had left on useless loanees which bloated our squad beyond recognition, Schneiderlin was bought by him and Lallana was one of them 'promoted' by him as the future of this club. The legacy of Lowe is still in full effect - Pards has a job and a half on his hands but I believe we'll get there...but it's gonna take time.
.comsaint Posted 27 August, 2009 Posted 27 August, 2009 Rasiak's gone to Reading today - apparently - and will be in their side on saturday: http://www.getreading.co.uk/sport/football/readingfc/s/2056336_breaking_news_reading_fc_to_sign_grzegorz_rasiak_and_jobi_mcanuff
saint_stevo Posted 27 August, 2009 Posted 27 August, 2009 get rid of Saga, Morgan and Rasiak. Get the cash in asap and get some new blood in

Very rarely do I have sympathy with footballers, but really they are only human and want to work in a stable environment within which they know where they stand, what the oprpotunities are, etc. It's why so many of them often respond well to new managers - new broom and all that. And why so often, they revert back to type if it becomes apparent that they new man doesn't have any better grasp of the club than the last manager. It is genuinely why it often takes managers time to turn around failing clubs. What we need - we've all said it - is a root and branches review. That appears to be what Pardew is doing.
Matthew Le God Posted 27 August, 2009 Posted 27 August, 2009 I think someone should tell the French Under 21 manager that 3rd tier football in England is much better than 3rd tier football in France.
Whitey Grandad Posted 27 August, 2009 Posted 27 August, 2009 We need it all sorted soonest so AP can get on with securing the players he wants. When does the window close? 17:00 Tuesday 1st September?

The lad is 19; I think we all forget this. The problem about last season was that we all expected youngsters to play like experienced pros. Like AL, LJ and co, he is not the finished article and will only get better with time. Maybe its an indictments on today’s society as a whole that supporters expect instant results from these youngsters, rather than taking a more pragmatic view that these youngsters will blow hot and cold as they mature. I see to remember Le Tiss wasn’t an instant success as a youngster, but we saw enough ability to wait. On a lesser note KJ took 3 years to break into the side, and look at him now. Lets not write our youngsters off on a weekly basis, and except that given time a few of them could be very good players. I suspect we will all be moaning about letting him go in 5 years time, when he is Arsenals next playmaker.
Dan Johnson Posted 27 August, 2009 Posted 27 August, 2009 Closes midnight on the 2nd i believe Midnight on the 31st August. Think its only extended to the 1st/2nd if it falls on the weekend.
The Kraken Posted 27 August, 2009 Posted 27 August, 2009 get rid of Saga, Morgan and Rasiak. Get the cash in asap and get some new blood in If Saga can keep showing the type of enthusiasm he showed on Tuesday night then I'd be very happy to keep him. It's a big if though...
saint_stevo Posted 27 August, 2009 Posted 27 August, 2009 Midnight on the 31st August. Think its only extended to the 1st/2nd if it falls on the weekend. Nope. Its cos the 31st is a bank holiday. Def the 2nd.
paris Posted 27 August, 2009 Posted 27 August, 2009 Make that the French Prem League.. I think someone should tell the French Under 21 manager that 3rd tier football in England is much better than 3rd tier football in France.
pimpin4rizeal Posted 27 August, 2009 Posted 27 August, 2009 Yes I heard echos of this from my girls friend's boyfriend at the time of the mediterranean tournament but unlike many I kept stum. It's a "secret de polichinelle" that the FFF have told him to find a "better club". you heard from your girlfriends boyfriend ? lol whatever next
West End Saint Posted 27 August, 2009 Posted 27 August, 2009 I hope Morgan stays he is a decent player and may well devolp into a very good player he was injured for a fair chunk of last season and we havent seen the best of him but for centre midfield he is way better than Gillett and Wotton and if he is going we will need to replace him the lad is a proper footballer
JoeShmoe Posted 27 August, 2009 Posted 27 August, 2009 Shock - French u21 international wants to move from the team bottom of league 1 to further his career What do some of you expect? I love Saints but if my international manager told me to play in a better standard of football to play for my country I would
Matthew Le God Posted 27 August, 2009 Posted 27 August, 2009 Midnight on the 31st August. Think its only extended to the 1st/2nd if it falls on the weekend. 31st is a Bank Holiday so it has been extended.
Whitey Grandad Posted 27 August, 2009 Posted 27 August, 2009 Closes midnight on the 2nd i believe Sorry to be so thick, is that midnight end of Tuesday or midnight end of Wednesday, in other words do we have the whole of Wednesday as well as Tuesday or is it banged shut at 00:01 on Wednesday?
krissyboy31 Posted 27 August, 2009 Posted 27 August, 2009 Premier League Extends Transfer Window Wednesday 19 August 2009: The Premier League have released a statement regarding the deadline for the summer transfer window. The statement reads... 'The Premier League confirms that the summer transfer window will close at 5pm on Tuesday 1st September.' 'The summer transfer window is scheduled to close on the final day of August but, following normal Premier League guidelines, it has been put back because 31st August falls on a Bank Holiday.'
Thedelldays Posted 27 August, 2009 Posted 27 August, 2009 morgan is not suited to this league...you can tell he has class in there somewhere and playing div 3 football in england when the french clearly want him to progress quicker means we are not the club for him...
Matthew Le God Posted 27 August, 2009 Posted 27 August, 2009 this is almost as bad as tapping up Apart from the fact the French under 21 boss is not connected to any club so it is not in anyway tapping up.

krissyboy31 Posted 27 August, 2009 Posted 27 August, 2009 Ta but we are not Premier League (yet) Sometimes the other leagues are different. No It's a FIFA directive. The UK Leagues have a 1 day extension due to bank holiday.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 27 August, 2009 Posted 27 August, 2009 this is almost as bad as tapping up tapping up for who? this is more being persuasive or blackmail

Lets not write our youngsters off on a weekly basis, and except that given time a few of them could be very good players. I suspect we will all be moaning about letting him go in 5 years time, when he is Arsenals next playmaker. Fair point, but with a counter argument. Both Theo Walcott and Gareth Bale showed far more ability and potential for us at a younger age than him, as did several other youngsters at other clubs, like Rooney, Owen, Gerrard, etc., All of those players showed greater ability also at a higher level than we are now, so arguably the better quality and ability a player has, the more outstanding it ought to be when contrasted with the dross that plays in this division by comparison. But if Schneiderlin does leave and progresses to be a really good player in the Premiership in 5 years time, we will be able to buy him back if we think he is value, something that we have never ever been able to do before, because once a player had left, we usually could not afford to get him back in if he was successful elsewhere.
Whitey Grandad Posted 27 August, 2009 Posted 27 August, 2009 No It's a FIFA directive. The UK Leagues have a 1 day extension due to bank holiday. Thanks. It's nice to know that somebody is in the know.
St_Tel49 Posted 27 August, 2009 Posted 27 August, 2009 Scheiderlin is dog****e, thank god he wants to go. Excellent news. I am glad that you are not one of the new scouting team!
Deanovski Posted 27 August, 2009 Posted 27 August, 2009 jeez i did not say he is being tapped up but its as BAD as being tapped up as in its not right/fair he and his agent chose our club its his own idiotic choice, hes contracted to us and unfortunately we have more say than his stupid u21 manager who can **** off.
RedFear Posted 27 August, 2009 Posted 27 August, 2009 has potential to be a great player, but never done it for us so wont exactly be missed. wrong player at the wrong time for us just another ridiculous lowe signing when we couldnt afford it
J Bizzle Posted 27 August, 2009 Posted 27 August, 2009 Would be a huge loss. Has so much to his game, don't get people saying he can't takcle when he has won pretty much every tackle he's been in this season. He is quality with the ball at his feet and imo whilst in possesion of the ball is the best player outside the prem. Would not suprise me to see him go for something around £3,500,000 if he were to leave. If he doesn't leave now we will get a lot from him in the first half of the season as he will be wanting to impress people and if we are in a good position come Jan he may even want to stay for a few more months.
DT Posted 27 August, 2009 Posted 27 August, 2009 Schneiderlin is way too good for us. Hope we get good money for him.
corsacar saint Posted 27 August, 2009 Posted 27 August, 2009 Morgan will probably turn out to be a top player, however apart from the first hour against Millwall, has he exactly stood out in this league.
.comsaint Posted 27 August, 2009 Posted 27 August, 2009 If Schneiderlin was as 'classy' and talented as he is made out to be - then he would stand out & simply shine each & every game - just about. But I don't see that...
