Saint_clark Posted 26 August, 2009 Posted 26 August, 2009 Yesterday my Iphone ran out of battery but I couldn't put it on charge. Eventually it turned off completely instead of coming up with the little "battery low" symbol. Put it on charge all last night, and it just would not turn on at all - doesn't even respond when I try taking the sim card out or anything. Any ideas? Should I just give apple a ring?
Pancake Posted 26 August, 2009 Posted 26 August, 2009 My wife had this problem. Try holding the on and square button (?) at the same time for 6 seconds or something like that.
Saint_clark Posted 26 August, 2009 Author Posted 26 August, 2009 Excellent, thank you Might as well shut this now.
Pancake Posted 26 August, 2009 Posted 26 August, 2009 Really? Did that work? Pancake in actually having some knowledge shocker!
Saint_clark Posted 26 August, 2009 Author Posted 26 August, 2009 Gutted I didn't try something so simple to be honest.
Michelle Posted 1 September, 2009 Posted 1 September, 2009 My iPod did the same last week, tried the above and it didn't work. Ended up doing a complete restore, but it did the trick. Worth remembering.
saint_bert Posted 2 September, 2009 Posted 2 September, 2009 SC the same trick can be used if your apps freeze. My safari wouldn't work all day once. So I held the power button and the circle for 6 seconds to reboot it.
mynameisthehulk Posted 2 September, 2009 Posted 2 September, 2009 I thought things made by Apple never went wrong?
Baj Posted 2 September, 2009 Posted 2 September, 2009 I thought things made by Apple never went wrong? Did you? That was very naive of you then...
mynameisthehulk Posted 4 September, 2009 Posted 4 September, 2009 Did you? That was very naive of you then... The way people go on, to be honest I thought they performed fellatio on you while being superior in every way to everything else
Baj Posted 4 September, 2009 Posted 4 September, 2009 The way people go on, to be honest I thought they performed fellatio on you while being superior in every way to everything else Well yeah, there are certain members on here that think Macs are the be all and end all of computing. As a macbook, iphone and ipod owned, I can confirm that they bloody well arent....

Essruu Posted 4 September, 2009 Posted 4 September, 2009 Our household has: White MacBook, Aluminium MacBook, MacMini, 2 iPhones, iPod Classic 120GB, 80GB 4th Gen iPod, 20GB Clickwheel iPod, iPod Nano, 2 iPod Shuffles - the only issues I've had over the years are a screen and battery issue on the white MacBook (fixed/replaced within 2 days by Apple each time) and the 20GB iPod sometimes freezes (user dropping it nto hard surface error). We've disposed of 2 PCs and a laptop which wasn't much older than my white MacBook (which is still working as new) in the last couple of years as they just weren't getting used anymore. I sure don't miss the amount of time I used to spend on Windows PCs and laptops getting frustrated by crashes, freezes, setting up firewalls, antivurus software, malware, adaware, and other bloatware.

Pancake Posted 4 September, 2009 Posted 4 September, 2009 That's because you're simple. That may well be, but at least I managed to post relevant info on a thread.

Yes, but then again, when I install a new PC, i set up AVG... job done. My macbooks magsafe is already broken, I've got hairs under the screen of my macbook, my "5 hour" battery now only give 1h:30 at best. I'm hoping Snow Leopard will fix some of the speed issues because some apps are not exactly swift. On the contrast, my £300 lappy from Novatech has been working perfectly for 3 years now and hasnt once failed me, I've never even had a lock up, which I get on my Macbook at least once a week and have to reboot. Maybe its because I use my macbook so heavily that I see these issues quicker than the more recreational users (oh, did i mention the gaps under the keys that easily collect crap and stop them from pressing down properly.. dont get that on my £300 lappy either).

Ess, out of interest, do you take AppleCare out on your stuff?
Essruu Posted 4 September, 2009 Posted 4 September, 2009 Ess, out of interest, do you take AppleCare out on your stuff? Did on the MacMini, but only because it was bought with Higher Education discount and the AppleCare was at a stupidly low price. Haven't bothered with any of the other purchases.
Michelle Posted 4 September, 2009 Posted 4 September, 2009 Snap. I got my MacBook on HE, and bought full whack AppleCare as it was so cheap. Never bothered with the iPod's, and I'm on my fourth variant now. Never bothered with Apple support with the first two, but they've been great with the 1st and 2nd Gen Touch's I've had. Will be getting iPhone after Xmas when my current contract runs out. Quite looking forward to it, I have to say.
