Scudamore Posted 26 August, 2009 Share Posted 26 August, 2009 In what world is he actually going to honour that five year contract by playing consistently? http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11750_5513107,00.html

Clapham Saint Posted 26 August, 2009 Share Posted 26 August, 2009 He added: "A few Premier League teams wanted me but I am looking to the future. The offers in the Premier League were more short-term. "And it's not about money. I wasn't offered more money really. Hmm... What's that "really" in therefore. He's clearly on a sh*t load more money than anybody else would give him. Does he really expect people to believe that the lure of Notts County was just too good to turn down? Lol. eurosaint Posted 26 August, 2009 Share Posted 26 August, 2009 Notts County need their heads examined, he will be injured most of the time so whatever they pay him will be money wasted !
Thedelldays Posted 26 August, 2009 Share Posted 26 August, 2009 Salary cap? Tell me more... there is some sort of ruling in league 2 that clubs can only spend a certain amount of their income on players wages (or something like that) hence why he has been given a 5 year contract which will make his overall earnings very high for the 2-3 years he will actually play... also, the money they are getting from Munto Finance is a "gift" which is a loop hole in the ruling..so they can spend what they like really with the "gift"... bit daft really.. fair play to county....they really have not havd much to shout about in the last god knows how many years
Smirking_Saint Posted 26 August, 2009 Share Posted 26 August, 2009 Notts County need their heads examined, he will be injured most of the time so whatever they pay him will be money wasted ! Unfortunately, i think he will be immense in league 2, plus he has gone in as a player-coach and has said he wants to get into management. TBH, it is a stupid amount of money, but hell of a coup for Notts C

TBH, it is a stupid amount of money, but hell of a coup for Notts C Only if he plays, that was my point ! Also, I read that it was only a playing contract and no coaching was involved. Anyway I still think that our 'building block' approach is more sensible than their 'big star' way but I suppose only time will tell !
