Shame, always a risk taking on an injury ridden player at that age. Hope we had insurance.

Definatly need a new right back in. Lloyd James or Wayne Thomas don't really fill me with confidence at right back.

He (Murty) will be 35-years old this November. I would say that (sadly) it looks as though his career has all but finished.

You may well be right but I hope you don't mind if the club seek a professional opinion first before dragging his carcass out to the knackers yard just yet .

AP sounded quite downbeat on Solent when talking about Murty. Said he would be out for a few weeks.

Does that mean that James will revert to right back I wonder?... or will AP look for another full back instead....7 days left.

The emergency loan period goes on into October I believe. I think that AP probably wasn't looking to sign another full-back (right or left) but now Murty looks likely to be out for a longish period, I suspect he will bring someone in.

They are now saying it doesn't look as bad as first thought and the ligament isn't torn. Apparently they are now using today to let it settle down and decide tomorrow on the treatment required.

This is better than I thought, as it looked really bad therefore long term.

What I saw was when Murty went down and the ball went away Carsley stamped on his knee as he went past.

In the second half it seemed that Birmingham had decided to come out playing dirty and underhand knowing that the ref was useless and wouldn't come down on them.

Is there any video evidence of this? If it can be proved, then there may be a case for a private prosecution...

Are there extended highlights of the game anywhere?

I don't see how you can say that. It was a cracking game and it only cost me £3.

nah I meant in regards to trialling him pre season and then offering a contract..typically Saints for him to get crocked...

Hope its not as bad as feared for him.

I had an ACL reconstruction just over a month ago, im 20 and will be out for maybe 6-9 months. This guy is 34 so certainly going to be a lot longer than that. Perhaps a year! If hes torn it, hes done i think. Sad, is a real good leader and definately guna miss him..!

Isn't it crazy just how many ACL injuries there are, have been over the past few years, surely more than ever before.

I think that has a lot to do with increasing grip/traction from the shoes. if the foot is stuck to the ground, its bound to be twisted on quick turns etc.

have done my right ACL twice myself !

with modern technology, they actually say the reconstructed ligament should be 10 % stronger than the original one. what takes time,is to train up all the supporting muscles and tissue...thats a boring process aswell !

Yeah, i was out for around 9 months after my recon, though i didn't go all out to get fit, and then towards the end just wanted to make 100% sure i didn't do it again.

But i agree, i blame blades

I saw the incident on BBC south at lunchtime, definitely an accident, and where the Echo got Carr AND Bowyer from I'll never know, it was Murty diving in on Carr to block the shot that caused the accident.

Fair enough. I saw the original block but not any 'afters', probably because there weren't any.

I spoke to rickkie lambert late yesterday he said it was cartlidge damage and should be out for a couple of months at best. Incidently he also thought James had an amazing game in midfield.

Ha Ha - I wish it was me. 33yr old lazy ***** here... so I may have abeen a chance in last years team ;)

This young lad has recently had a trial with Rangers - So i daresay he has some ability and to make it easier he was born in Devon !

Come on Saints come and rob my local club for Scott Neville - Up and coming brilliant RB

Whilst we are at it Zullo and Minniecon would really add some pace to our wings and Allsopp is probably the perfect striker for league 1

A big shame Murty is a good player and we have missed his Leadership at the back when he's been out if he had of stayed on I am sure we would have gone on and won V Brum towards the end of the season James did ok RB however his is much in midfield we will miss Murty and need a replacement even if a loan

Not a joking matter buddy

Nor is reneging on a bet;)

Every person on crutches at SMS is now liable to be ankle tapped:D

PS Hope you recover fully (and quickly)

See that Luka Modric is out for 6 weeks with a fractured fibula after a crunching tackle from Lee Bowyer. While Murty's injury came from a 50/50 that wasn't malicious, Brum were by far the most aggressive team in the championship last season and show no signs of changing this one.
