voteforpedro Posted 25 August, 2009 Posted 25 August, 2009 not listed in squad or injuries on OS tonight. My thoughts also. Can't see why he would be left out of the team, as he is probably our most effective and natural wide player.
eelpie Posted 25 August, 2009 Posted 25 August, 2009 Treatment table???? That's what I heard. What a waste
SNSUN Posted 25 August, 2009 Posted 25 August, 2009 Thought he was injured. Either way people on here seem to think that Pardew doesn't rate him. Which, if this is the case, means we need to add a left winger to the shopping list as Mills cannot play there all season, and we sure as hell can't keep using Lallana out of position. (Well we can, but...)
voteforpedro Posted 25 August, 2009 Posted 25 August, 2009 Article on the OS a few days ago said he was back in training
krissyboy31 Posted 25 August, 2009 Posted 25 August, 2009 That's what I heard. What a waste Rumour has it Darren Anderton has officially passed his Sicknote nickname onto him.
Thedelldays Posted 25 August, 2009 Posted 25 August, 2009 Rumour has it Darren Anderton has officially passed his Sicknote nickname onto him. no wonder we got him on a free
Chez Posted 25 August, 2009 Posted 25 August, 2009 no wonder we got him on a free was he injury prone prior to coming to us or did the powers at Derby just see him as I do?
cjay7 Posted 25 August, 2009 Posted 25 August, 2009 hes fit but doesnt seem to be able to push into AP's plans.
SNSUN Posted 25 August, 2009 Posted 25 August, 2009 Holmes is where the heart is. Elementary, dear Watson.
Andy_Porter Posted 26 August, 2009 Posted 26 August, 2009 probably off Like anyone would be stupid enough to sign him. He's permanently injured.
Saint_clark Posted 26 August, 2009 Posted 26 August, 2009 Working on the Hound of the Baskerville case I believe.
Pugwash Posted 26 August, 2009 Posted 26 August, 2009 He's in there somewhere... Top RH corner, on Jason Euell's back.
Lets B Avenue Posted 26 August, 2009 Posted 26 August, 2009 hes fit but doesnt seem to be able to push into AP's plans. On what what do you base that? He has been injury prone ever since he started at Derby, aged 16 (probably too young), got injuries when he went out on loan to Bradford and Walsall and only got as far as the QPR game last September before getting crocked again. He was rushed back too early by Portvliet against Forest, without any reserve footy, missed the xmas period, played a couple in January, before going off early at Norwich. Total 11 games. As usual, missin players only enhance their reputation. McLaggon is now the best winger we have ever had. I also noted that Holmes and Pulis (another world great) were subs against Millwall. At half-time only 5 of the 7 subs were on the pitch getting soaked by the sprinklers. No prizes for guessing the missing two. If Holmes was anywhere near fit, he would be in the team, as Pardew has spoken of the teams need to play wide and get crosses in. Please do not base your hopes for the season on any injury jinxed players.
david in sweden Posted 26 August, 2009 Posted 26 August, 2009 no wonder we got him on a free I don't think he was injured when we signed him. On the contrary he had a good pre-season and scored in a couple of early games. I was watching the game that he got injured in and it looked pretty bad at the time. There is a lot of difference between getting a bad injury that'sdifficult to heal, and being " injury-prone" where you get one different injury after another, and never get totally match-fit. People like Pahars, M.Svensson and Lunderkvam had really bad injuries and never got properly fit again (as did MLT). Matt Oakley was off over a yea , and found it difficult to come back, by the time he did ..he's been transferred out.
Smirking_Saint Posted 26 August, 2009 Posted 26 August, 2009 (edited) He's at the shop !!!! Just noticed someone beat me to it Edited 26 August, 2009 by Smirking_Saint
KMondo Posted 26 August, 2009 Posted 26 August, 2009 Rumour has it Darren Anderton has officially passed his Sicknote nickname onto him. So, he should just about get fit in time for the World Cup then...

At least the others had made decent or even great reputations for themselves playing a hundred or 10's of hundreds appearances. Holmes has played a whole 14 times for Saints, including once as sub (Man U FA Cup), the game he was crocked v QPR and twice in the League Cup.

Yes, but he scored twice in those 14 games, that's one in seven. Saga's only managed one in six since he signed.

I wasn't comparing a " newcomer " like Holmes with those other illustrious names, merely that he didn't come as an " injured player " unlike one or two others, or had he been " injury-prone " before his arrival. Those famous names mentioned all had very serious injuries from which they never properly recovered, and never played effectively again.
