Good one problem sorted - made it quite clear earlier someone who was in talks was not going to be picked tonight - I personally think Saga could be good for us if he applied himself to the task a little more

Thanks for the goals Rasa but my goodbye is tearless. Like Saga, he came in, did well, got signed, did ok, and then got loaned out.

I wouldn't be suprised if Saga followed him out shortly. A frantic last week of the transfer window.

I was one of rasiaks biggest supporters...I thought it was criminal the way he was dropped a couple of years ago when he was banging them in....

THAT goal at pride park was aweseome and gave a shyt load of saints fans hope when it seemed it all was lost..

I know someone who works in Reading & he reckons Rasiak is up there

Reading need a striker & he wants to team up with the manager again

Possible as his manager at Watford,Brendan Rogers, is now at Reading

does this mean sagga could be staying? bye rasiak

Given the choice I'd prefer Saganowski over Rasiak , not because Saga would score more goals (I can't see either being particularly prolific) but because he's more of a team player than Rasiak . It's all academic for the moment - both will probably leave .

I like many others are critical of him for being lazy and everything else, but for me he is a better player than Saga for one reason, goals scored. I like Saga but goals over effort thanks. Thanks for the memories GR, like the two goals away at Stoke 3 seasons ago, was a great day out and of course that goal at pride park.

Agreed. It does add credence to the idea that he was on appearance bonuses so was dropped in order to save money. Should never have happened.

I'll never forget that goal! My God, it seems so long ago now.

Agreed. No idea why we signed John when we had Rasiak. Will never forget that goal and the celebration afterwards. Unbelievable experience.

I won't wish him luck as he wanted out by all acounts. Hopefully we can use his mammoth wages elsewhere to good effect.

I fully agree, plus I think Saga will be a better partner for Lambert than Rasiak.

Oh, and if he is still here in a week's time Saga will have to work his arse off to stay in the Poland squad/earn a January move.

Pardew says we've had 2 bids for Rasiak. Looks like he's as good as gone.

feck me, lets start an auction.

I'll start the bidding at paying them £500,000 to take him :D

Expected tbh - hope we get a good fee!

Be interesting to see who the bid are from.

Was this on Solent after the game? What else did he say?

Yes - t'was on Solent. Interviewed Pardew after the game & he was asked if there will be comings & goings between now & the transfer window. He was asked if Rasiak was going because he wasn't in the squad tonight. Pardew said we've had 2 bids for him - and that's about all he said on the matter. It looks like Rasiak will be gone within the next 48 hours then. My guess is possibly to Watford?

Rasiak lives 'round the corner in Milford-on-Sea, and as I understand it, he has told friends he will be able to "commute" to another club which we have spoken to. This adds more creditability to the Reading story!

Posted

Roll up, it's two-for-one week at Pardew's Pole Centre - buy two strikers, get the lazier one free!

(WARNING - their values are more likely to go down than up, all Saints strikers are pre-owned, living on past glories, sold as seen on very old Youtube clips, and likely to demand unjustifiable wages - No refunds)

Posted

Lets just get rid of him...........start paying a player that shows a bit of desire to wear the shirt.......sooner the better.......

Posted

he was a lazy goalhanger and didnt want to play for us - bye bye, he will go on to sit on another Reading's subs bench, who cares?

Let's get someone in that thinks that putting a saints shirt on and wanting to play for us means something.. yeah he scored some vital goals for us, but then wasn't that what he was paid a sh_tload of money to do?? Shouldnt that mney buy a bit of passion and fight??

Posted

As a number of people have said, it's more than likely that Reading and Watford are the two teams chasing Rasiak's signature. Not bothered by him leaving either. Don't get me wrong, a fit and motivated Rasiak would score goals for fun in this division, but he doesn't want to be here so there's no point in keeping him. Same goes for Saga, if a decent bid comes in, we should accept it and move on as we can't have players at the club who aren't committed to the cause.

Well thanks for the goals and all the best.

Thought he was a good servant for the club and can't really be blamed for wanting to play a higher level. Especially with international ambitions still.

As I think all of us know... still more replacements/ strengthening needed.

Rogers wont be there for long the way things are going/

Q: has Steve Coppell got a season ticket. ? He's not missing many of our Home games, - (I know , we've only played two League games at Home. ! )

Follow up: Did I hear that P----y have just signed Smith from Watford.

If true then Watford will defo' need another striker.

I do not think we have ever used him properly to get the best out of him and to loan him out was criminal but we know the financial reasons why. If he wants away then fine and I would prefer we lose him rather than Saga who I thouht played well tonight working off Lambert and pulling the defenders wide.

Both Saga, and Rasiak have been disappointments since their arrival. The odd glimpse of what the might be capable of but thats it. I wont be sad to see either of them go.

good news that two clubs are chasing him as that probably means we won't end up paying a share of his wages which seemed possible when Watford suggested he was too expensive for them.

28 goals in 76 games, often in a poor team is hardly "the odd glimpse".

Rasiak is proven at English second tier level beyond any doubt.

But granted - Saga has struggled to maintain his "please give me a permanent contract" form since signing said permanent contract.

Bottom line...... are they value for money to the business?..........I would say a resounding "NO"........time to ship them on !........Just hope someone else is daft enough to pay the inflated wages they seek

Back in the old days this used to be called "investing in the team" and people would whine for weeks on end about why we didn't do more of it.

Funny how things change.

I think most of us will be glad to see the back of them, but you are a little hard on Rasiak. He is one of only THREE players to have scored 20 league goals for Saints in the last 20 YEARS !

MLT did it 3 times. James Beattie as well....and Greg Rasiak . Not so bad really. People might claim some goals were " lucky" (whatever that means - they crossed the line) and many claim that GR is " lazy " (whatever that means...TWO England managers said that about MLT and didn't pick him for that reason ! ) - but he was still a top Premiership striker.

Last season GR was farmed out on loan and hardly had a chance to perform.

Let's face it - everyone knows he wants to go and for that reason it's best for everyone that he does, but you shouldn't dismiss a 20 goal striker with harsh words quite so easily (not in this club anyway).

ta-ra,

hopefully saga will follow him soon, whilst decent players, these two have summed up our problems in recent years, over-paid, over-rated and an attitude that stinks.
