I don't wish to cast aspersions (obviously) but channon8 has only posted 4 times in 'living memory'...two of which were:-

I know i dont post often, but i thought i would share my news.Their is an Irish consortium that have today paid the £500,000 required to enter a period of exclusivity, and a deal is done at £15,000,000,subject to nothing untoward being found. As we were a PLC,working under strict guidlines hopefully none will be found.

The Pinnacle bid is still very much in the hunt and this new interest from the 2 Irish guys might force there hand one way or the other.Hopefully within a matter of days we will have a club to be proud of once again.

Delmary, all i can add is that Pinnacle are still very keen and their one really wealthy guy,has to put up or lose out to the Irish bid.It still appears Fry wanted the Pinnacle bid to happen, and the Irish interest has got them moving again.I have no knowledge of who the Irish guys are,but i do know a deal is imminent. The fact is Tony Lynam is purely acting as a broker on comission, but definately believes in his client.

So, must be true....;)

I see Channon 8 is a "definately" merchant then.

I can never give much credence to people who get that wrong time after time, which accounts for about 85% of the UK populace I suppose.

Guthrie, Chaplow, Vignal, Pearce, Wright, Lucketti.......

Not the Reading guy, Alex? Terrible - I saw him against Palace at Selhurst Park and he was shyte. I actually felt sorry for Kelvin having Pearce stood in front of him

The others I agree with.

Loans can be hit and miss, but by and large they are good players that for one reason or another just cannot get into their teams. Perry was a loan too, and we've so far got a season out of him. Lucketti was the much needed steel at the back for our escape from relegation from the CCC. Vignal wasn't rated to start with, but made the left back slot his own, but Chaplow was one of my favourite loans we've had. Shame we couldn't sign him as WBA had tons of midfielders at the time.

Then there was Ekelund...

He played 30 times in l1 last season for the team that won the league. Why slag him off?

Because some people expect too much and TBH its becoming quite boring. Everyone wanted a winger - we have one and now thats not good enough FFS!

The hardest bit for me to understand is I watched MOTD on Saturday and see a 19 year old turn the game around for Hull in the premier league and we could all name loads of players who have played in the top flight from the ages of 16 and 17, but a lot of our fans seem to think that anyone under 23 is rubbish and not capable at our level?

Gradel is on the bench for Leicester tonight.

This and the lack of any source so far makes me think this could be a wind up. Or one of those top notch 606 rumors.

No, the problem is we don't have a winger, there seems no basis for this speculation. Is there any :smt102

We do have plenty of whingers though ;)

it's because all our kids are rubbish and not capable at our level. given that we've been sold the idea that our acaemy is the best, that must mean all the others are worse.

A big part of football is hoping your players do better next game, next month, next season. You don't really get that with loan players, you don't really care if they go on to become great players or not.

No idea, we know we need a winger, one is linked ( apparently) and even though he looks good it seems he's being criticised already. Reality check, Ronaldo signed for Real Madrid so it seems unlikely we'll be getting him.

As for whether it's on loan or not who gives a flying fig, I don't !

Actually we're getting Ronaldo on loan. Unfortunately it's the fat one with the wonky knees...

I'd still take him with bells on.

No thanks! yet another young loan player!

What exactly is the problem for you ?...The loan idea is great.

The player gets games, and we have an extra face in the squad.

If he doesn't fit in ...we can send him back - no loss!

If he's good we have the chance to sign a player we already know about.

Think about last seasons loans.......!!!!!

What if we'd had to sign all those dead beats instead of only loaning them.

They'd still be on the books... and we'd have no money back guarantee.

AP's strategy seems to be ; BUY experienced CCC/L1 players

but LOAN up -and-coming youngsters who MIGHT make the grade, and we have a chance of buying them later.

Doesn't that sound like a good arrangement ?

You made me look small now.........!

Would be a great siging but can't see this one considering how many games he played last season.

We need a natural winger who has played 40+ games fits the bill but I'll believe it when I see it!

Any more news on this? He would be a great signing, even just as a loan as we badly need pace in the side and this lad has plenty of it. I can see the logic in him being tied into a deal for Rasiak if he went to Leicester but Pearson seems to rate Gradel highly. Even if it isn't Gradel, we need a similar type of player to increase width and stretch defences to allow midfielders the space to support Lambert and A.N.Other.

....... would have thought if there was any truth in this there would be some rumblings by now as the window draws ever near shutting

Mind you AP said last night that he wanted to bring a couple more in this week and there are no real rumours as to who they may be.

Could it be that we struck a deal with Leicester, whereby Rasiak was set to join them with Gradel going in the opposite direction?

Could it be that Leicester are the club that Rasiak 'wasn't impressed with' and so this deal is either off or being re-negotiated?

Or could it be that it's nothing more than a rumour and I've been thinking too much about this one? :p

I loved that quote....

“He spoke to one club and didn’t like them, so maybe he’ll like the next one.”

Maybe you'll start to realise Greg, there aren't many clubs at the level you'll be at, with the setup he's been used to here...!

FWIW that was my take on it too - gradel coming as part of a deal.

Pard's said something along those lines, ''when we get 1 or 2 out, the agenda will become clear as it will enable us to bring 1 or 2 back in''

(P.S - Fix the thread title!!)

what is it with Pardew and his new fangled ideas??!!

He signed the best goalscorer in the division and now he's trying to bring in a winger proven at this level, what are those two ever likely to achieve between them?

We need more Dutch input, it's the only way - JP and MW got us out of the Championship at the first attempt and I'm quite confident they could easily get us out of Lg One.

Actually, Pards tells me that having spent a night with JP and MW, he is bringing in Gradel to play centre back and pushing Lambert out wide...
