Today on Simon Mayo's show, 13:00-16:00.

Not sure when precisely but should hopefully be interesting. I think they will be talking about his autobiography, career etc.

693 and 909 MW.

I am going out so if someone would like to take a detailed note and transcribe it on here that would be wonderful!

(Or I can just download the podcast later)

Just posted this on the end of the autobiography post as I can't start my own threads - will be on just after 2pm is what Simon Mayo said when trailoring his show on the previous one.

Well it isn't going to be about his role in Pinnacle and while he was still backing it until the 11th hour. Pity because he woudl be more interesting than another sychophantic and shameless self publicity of a book. Still makes a change I suppose it's not the author doing the plug!

Don't suppose Mayo's first question will be - Well Matt I have read the book (blushes slighty) was it a concsious decision to be so lacking in any controversy?

His second question - do you wish you had delayed publication so you could tell the fans the real story behind Pinnacle bid as to some observers you seemed with the benefit of hindsight to actually jeopardise the club's future as oppose to save it? Don't you think it would have made the book more worthy of purchase?

Now, now, 19C. I think we all know how you feel about Matt's role in the Pinnacle fiasco. You're only going to wind people up and get more arguments raging by mentioning it again.

For some reason, I'm reminded of those utter t!ts who go onto film review sites and post opinions of movies they haven't seen.

Can't think why.

Thank god you aren't a presenter otherwise you'ld have the most boring show in radio. It's a national radio station, 95% of listeners wont have a clue who Pinnacle are.............

He was asked, and spoke about Pinnacle for a while, but not in enough depth to appease 19C.

Says he would not have moved to a bigger club even if he knew it would mean more caps for England, as he feels it shouldn't matter which club you play for.

He was very proud of the 8 caps he won playing for Saints as he felt he truly earned them.

Thought he spoke well about it, and made some really good points about Mr Lowe..............

TBF he came across really well. Seemed quite happy to talk about everything. His love for the club was evident. Great, great bloke.

That wins my vote for the most predictable post of the year, you really should seek help for your obsessive–compulsive disorder.

That wins my vote for the most predictable response to a Nineteen Canteen post of the year.... ;)

I posted something similar on another thread and what was really warming was the many, many great comments and appreciative sentiments from fans up and down the country.

A great ambassador for the Club and is obviously held in high regard by the football fraternity.

As some bloke from "Oooop North" said, "I doubt we'll see his like again".

Sadly 19C doesn`t know when to give up. He/she has stopped being deliberately antagonistic and controversial and is becoming a laughable parody of his/her self. You just know that if you said something was black, 19C would be on here like a shot saying that it was white just to get a reaction. Sad.

Light. Now that can be both white and black at the same time.....

Top Bloke is Matty, and I can forgive any involvement in te PInnacle fiasco because I am sure ven Matty would admit he is perhaps not the the biggest of business brains - yet the support he lent was simply because it was an option to save the club - so we should cut him some slack.

One point of interest is when someone mentioned he was 'ripping into Lowe' and this seems to elevate him in most fans eyes as it does whenever old players have a good dig... but how would opinions of Matty change if he had came out with a different perspective, acknowledging the problems, but perhaps understanding why certain decisions were made? ;-)

Quality quote by Matty on how he might not have been able to cope with the current emphasis on fitness etc, something like:

"Prozone would have killed my game, showing up the miles I didn't run"

Dream on, Frank. He doesn't say anything like that because he knows it's nonsense.

I think that given his obvious love and passion for the Club and only ever wanting the best for Saints, then I think people would respect Matty's opinion regardless of whether they agreed with it or not.

That said, I think Matty and I see eye to eye with regards the shortcomings/failings of Chairman Lowe;)

Whilst i personally would have liked Le Tiss to speak out sooner, i think it tells you something about the man that he kept his counsel for so long regarding lowe. I could be wrong but from memory even during wildes first takeover, the recent ex pro's (Le Tiss, Benali, Dodd etc) all kept quiet and didn't talk up one camp or another. It strikes me (And again i could be very wrong) that MLT's first public criticisms of lowe came only after ruddy cheeks did the media rounds telling everybody it wasn't his fault we were in administration..... as a pure guess; I think that was "the straw that broke the camels back" and MLT couldn't keep quiet any longer

very interesting to hear MLT say that there was never any ill feeling between the consortiums. It implies there was some form of dialogue during admin

There was a piece in an interview with The Times where he mentions he had conversations with friends in the other potential consortiums:

"I was trusting that everything I was being told was absolutely kosher, and most of it was,” he said. “Then all of a sudden the funding, which was from Switzerland, fell through. At the end I could see that this was damaging the club and I said, ‘This is enough, let’s get out and let someone else come in.’

“We knew that Markus Liebherr [now the owner] was around, and there was another group based in Monte Carlo. I knew people in all three groups, so I was getting info from three directions, and they were all mates of mine so it was really difficult.

“But it’s all worked out for the best in the end, I think. Markus Liebherr is obviously a very wealthy man. The club is stabilised from a financial point of view and that’s what’s most important, as long as they stay up this season.”

Matty is an untouchable regardless of the Pinnacle situation !

Did he make any reference to how he feels about the new regime under ML/NC ?

If we are to believe the rumours it probably went something like "Marcus, Tony here, we have entered into exclusivity using someone else's money and have now reached the conclusion we have not got a pot to pith in so would you like to buy the exclusivity off of us so we are not all in the cart(and to prevent Micky Fialka's mum from grounding him for at least a week) ??"
