Whereas you think we signed him to honour an agreement, made by a person no longer in control at Saints at the time, with a person with no connection to the club other than that he was a potential managerial candidate at some point in the past? Bizarre.

 

Coincidentally, the player signed was young-ish and cheap and at the time we had a policy of filling the team with young and cheap players. We were also selling a player to the club of Mr Pulis so had the option to take a cheap punt on this box-ticking young lad.

 

Well, frankly one does sound like bull**** and one doesn't.

 

Maybe Torres could have been a bit more friendly with the way he posted it but this is a football messageboard FFS.

 

If you are going to post nudge-nudge wink-wink Machiavellian conspiracy posts that fly in the face of a much more logical explanation and are not prepared to back up the said theory on the same public forum then expect, quite justifiably, to have the finger of bull**** waved in your face.

 

I'm just astounded that you think Pullis Jr, who has shown not one jot of real talent anywhere he's been was signed because we actually thought he might be a useful signing. Young (well, not that young really) and cheap (yes) but when adding someone to your payroll, surely, surely you have criteria other than just young and cheap. There is not a shred of evidence to support the ticking of ANY other box.

 

I can't with all honesty understand how your explanation is "much more logical", given the complete lack (in my opinion) of any other ticks.

Let's get this right - someone (FF) who has a history of getting good information puts some of it the public domain. You on the other hand call it bullsh1t on no knowledge whatsoever, but on a number of weak assumptions where there is little justification for those assumptions.

 

Presumably you think Pullis Jr was signed because we'd scouted him and liked what we saw? Thats what I call bullsh1t.

 

I think Torres' accusation of bovine secretions was a tad harsh, but I completely understand that the circumstances and timeline of 2007/8 don't seem to leave much room for an approach to noted chav tracksuit and baseball cap-combo wearer Tony Pulis, so it's understandable why he thought it wasn't true, especially as the following transfer seems to be based on the unlikely premise of someone honouring a gentlemen's agreement in modern football.

 

Also, FF is entitled to withdraw himself from posting if he likes, but I don't really think that one response is sufficient grounds for it.

Last week I posted an answer on Trousers's questioning thread concerning Pulis jnr. What I posted I knew to be 99.9% fact and yet one poster ridiculed it and called it bull****.

I pm'ed him offering to reveal my source and complete the story (which was and still is a little sensitive). I said I would tell him if he kept it condfidential and once he had possesion of the facts would he edit the bull**** bit. Thought that was a reasonable offer.

 

The person never even bothered to reply even though he has been a regular visitor on here since. I pm'ed him again this afternoon just in case he missed my first message but he has chosen not to reply. His right off course but wouldn';t it have been best if he hadn't made his ignorant comment in the first place?

I do sometimes wonder the point of posting snippets if people rubbish it willy nilly and then don't even bother to find out more.

 

This forum has some great posters and it is a good place to let off steam, find out things and generally chat to other Saints addicts but some do nothing than insult and wind up hiding behind keyboards while wallowing in their anonyminity.

 

Tbh I don't feel the point any more of posting things on here - can't be bothered with the crap. Perhaps I will just pm the people on here who are genuine with things I get to hear.

I will lurk - after all this forum can be addictive, but that will be it, contribution wise for a while once this thread has run its course. Thank God I hear some say. :)

Right seriously what is the point of starting this thread? Were you just trying to make a private grievance public? If i remember correctly, this isn't the first time you have decided to leave the forum, did you not do the same about two years ago for roughly six months?

 

Why are you acting so surprised that someone has disbelieved what you have written? Look at it from his point of view, why should he believe what someone has posted on a forum? I believe his second comment on that thread was that it seems unlikely to him, to be honest it also seems unlikely to me though I'm not going to call it bull****.

 

On every forum these things go on, why do you think this one will be any different? Every time you post something ITK, there are many posters who find it interesting and are grateful but do you want everyone to post how thankful they are that you decided to post every time? Just accept that there will always be people who think you are talking rubbish or being selective with truth to pursue an agenda (and quite a few who believe you have a past record of doing this). Ask yourself why you are posting? Is it to keep fellow saints fans informed? Or is it for the thanks and "glory" that being an ITK can bring. If it is the former then why do you care what one or two posters choose to believe? Either post and contribute like everyone else or leave without starting threads about it so everyone can beg you to stay. It's pretty simple really.

FWIW my middle nipper has been up at Stoke training & I was told by a couple of coaches up there that there was talk of Pullis coming down to us as manager, but that was at least 18 months ago. Pretty much from that moment on Stoke went on a run that got them promoted & we almost got relegated until Pearson came in.

They also reckoned Pullis jnr could do a job in Div 1! Shut up Corky!

BTW Mr 2 degrees and son or son-in-law of a University Lecturer why do you feel the need to try and talk in accepted 'football / inner-city parlance'. Incorrigible behaviour living the stereotype to big up your 'middle nipper'. Nice one Corky!

They was just the sales patter, trying to get us to buy him!!!!!

 

Or was it his agent who has obviously worked his magic by getting him contracts at a number of clubs (then again if you're dad id the manager, then I doubt you need an agent;)).

 

From what people are saying it would appear that Pulis was being lined up when Burley left, which is surprising as Pulis was a Premiership manager at the time.

People who respect me and my right to an opinion who may hold completely the opposite view tend not to throw around insults and personal abuse like confetti and therefore we can exchange comments and friendly banter.

 

Unfortunately there are others who do exactly the opposite and then get upset if I respond to a verbal kicking.

Dunc FFS mate, do you realise how much schit some of us take? TBF, I think we've become more 'sensitive' on here as some take this (excellent) site a little more seriously...hence the curtailing/banning of fun, Saints fan related posts like the fantastic 'Soul Cellar' memories/legend/myths whatever you wanna call 'em.

 

Me, I also love the Ugly as you can be y'stereotypical Fitzhugh/Spinnaker/Wimpson Club/Market Diner lad without having to retain a thoroughly 'appropriate' posting technique. You can be a shade sacrimonious without fear of chastisement.

 

Both forums have their place, this sometimes has some slight newsworthiness or a reasonable prospective of some average Saints fan's opinions...but it ain't a lot of fun and you get crucified for trying to have some. If we were to allow a bit more humour, p!ss-taking and light-heartedness, we wouldn't find it so devastating when some loud mouth gobbed off without even the balls to back schit up or respond.

 

FF, I probably know you as well as almost anyone on here and vice-versa, I've listened to opinions and advice from you and respected it....well here's some from me about some of your detractors 'Empty vessels make the loudest noises!'

 

Dr Tim diagnoses a couple of weeks rehab on the UI and maybe even a few cyber fights with the skates on Uncle Colin's site - sharpen your retorts and p!ss-taking skills (Which you have been a pastmaster at in the past when needs be), then come back here a continue your fine contributions on this forum.

 

Rant over my friend!

 

Perhaps Nick at the Ugly can arrange a swap. FF for Chester Perry.

 

He'd be much better over here.

I like your thinking. Presumably Pulis would post mostly on the Muppet Show, occasionally in the Lounge, but would never make it near the main board...

I didn't go back to read the original thread, but the signing of juniorP seems deeply suspicious and I accept all conspiracy theories in this particular case.
