Saints vs Brum build up

SNSUN

Recommended Posts

----------- Davis

James Thomas Perry Harding

---- Gillett Schneiderlin

White --- Lallana --- Gobern

--------- Lambert

If Murtys fit then i'd play James in midfeild in place of Lallana and play a bit more defensive.

Considering all that went on last season and has gone on so far this season. that has to rate as the most ridiculous midfield proposal I have seen in a long time...

And why would that be then?

Would like to see us play with wingers and Thomson clearly isn't up to it and Holmes and Mills aren't fit. That basically leaves us with Gobern and White. Only real change would be Millis in for Lallana which could work but i'd rather we stick to our own, from the three games i've seen Mellis play he only really offers pace.

Playing 4-4-2 against a side two leagues above us would be suicide.

Which is why it will be 4-5-1

Bought my ticket this afternoon and most of the Northam is sold out. I'm not expecting too much from this match as a couple of our best players are cup-tied. I really do sincerely hope that doesn't mean we'll have to play Wotton.

Sadly Wes I fear we might. Wotton seems to have been one of the players targetted for AP's reasoned critique in recent weeks but he seemingly does not rate Gillett enough to pick him over the old lag !

With the average age down to about 12 years old I can see Alpines point. We need a bit of experience in there to teach and support the kids. That midfield while being fast and upfor it would be pretty much headless and would get bossed around by most teams in league 1 let alone prem oppo's.

Dont get me wrong cause I would love to see that line up stroll out every week and carve teams up but I think that was the 50/50 chance they took last season and it didnt work.

no chance it'll be 5, unless he wants another game like swindon....

Wotton really doesn't deserve to play after his performance at Swindon last week.

Pardew said on the website:

""One of our players is in talks with another club, and I'm not going to go into details, but he will be eliminated from tonight's squad."

I'm guessing thats Rasiak or Saga then?

The only old head in midfield we could include would be Wotton he shouldn't be anywhere near the team.

I think the problem with the 4-5-1 against Swindon was the lack of any width we had a central midfielder and a target man striker on the wings, was never going to work. With two proper wingers it might actually work.

I would go for

Davis

Murty, Thomas,Harding,James

Thomson, Gillett, Morgan,Mellis

Lambert

Patterson

Of course that would make a very lightweight side but a potential attacking one. Lallana and Perry have been amongst our worst players this year thus far, i would probably have Lallana and Wotten as joint worst.

Either way this is going to be a hard game. Birmingham don't score many goals but what they do is keep the other teams out. Scoring against them will be difficult, Man Utd could only score once at Old Trafford recently against them.

I got a feeling this one could go down to a penalty to decide, either during game time or at the end with penalty shootout. So could be a long night! Be interesting to see if Vignal plays and what kind of reception he might get.

I think we'll play Saga and Lambert in attack.

I've either put them off or really got them riled, as just after 12 the Team Coach drove by Queen's Park and my girlfriend and I gave them the secret V's.:smt109

Could have just written "I have a girlfriend, validate me" in massive letters, tbf.

Validation denied.

I'll just say partner next time which I'm sure will get some on here hot under the collar:D

PS She did it first, I just followed after her, and didn't recognise any of the players (then again I'm not sure I'll recognise many from the Saints team tonight!!!!).

Bialkowski,

Murty, Thomas, Lancashire, Harding,

James, Gillett, Schneiderlin, Mellis,

Saganowski, Lambert.

Subs: Thomson, Gobern, Lallana, Paterson, Wotton

I've put Ollie in preference to Perry, cos I think two matches a week are too much for Perry.

And playing Bart because he needs match experience. The result is immaterial.

I wonder if Pards will put Pulis on the bench?

teams are up, and ours looks atrocious

midfield of Wotton;Mellis,James and Lallana, you've got to laugh or you'd top yourself.Saga and Lambert in attack though.

Thats a crazy midfield.... and the bench looks uninspiting. Mind you Lambert and Saga up front is a proper partnership. Pity they won't get any service from the midfield.

Yeah, appalling midfield. No wingers, Lallana fitted in wherever AGAIN and while I don't know about Mellis, Wotton is clearly ****e. Shame. Gillett/Schneiderlin remains the best partnership I've seen and they're both on the bench. Good up front though. I just doubt they'll get the ball!

I just do not know why he doesn't rate Gillett? I think he's the one player in our team who can offer that bit of ''bite'' and just get on oppo's nerves as he's always on your tail...

tonight could have been a perfect opportunity for him. Wotton has had more than enough to prove he's ****.

Do we really want to be playing a 19 year old again after 3 games in a week ? I don't think so. To be fair though I would have played Gillett.

We are obviously going to punt the ball from the back to Lambert so that he can lay it off for Saga,no point in wasting midfielders we'll need for Saturday on those "tactics", might as well put out the U11 midfield.
