saint_stevo Posted 7 September, 2008 Posted 7 September, 2008 "When I eventually I retire i'd love to come back to england and own a football club. There's alot of clubs out there that have huge potential to be big especially those with good youth set ups. I'd love to get involved with The FA's grassroots scheme and introduce my own style of development into English football. I like the looks of clubs such as Ipswich, Derby and Southampton because these are the types of clubs that are developing youngster players on a regular basis, especially Southampton who have implemented a new system for development whereby the younger players are given a chance in the first team. For the moment though i'm just concentrating on my playing career because I don't have long left so i want to play to the best of my ability and enjoy the rest of my playing career."
RedSquirrel Posted 7 September, 2008 Posted 7 September, 2008 I'd put up with him if he bought the club
Secret Site Agent Posted 7 September, 2008 Posted 7 September, 2008 what, and Posh as well. And all the paprazzi down west quay? Yep, I suppose I would too
St Louis Posted 7 September, 2008 Posted 7 September, 2008 Does anybody have the link to this full story? I saw it mentioned in the BBC Gossip column, but no reference was made to Saints! (Or is that bit just a wind up?) Apparently, the story is in today's Sunday Express!
VectisSaint Posted 7 September, 2008 Posted 7 September, 2008 Have the Academy scouts been watching Brooklyn? We should get him signed up then Becks would be bound to take us over. Even if he was no good we could keep him in the team, after all Pulis would be nearing retirement age by then. I guess the only problem is that we no longer have scouts overseas.

Why do we need scouts overseas to sign up Brooklyn???... We have Tijuana Tim on the job for us in that part of the world - maybe he could cut TSW in as a part agent so we get the fees:-) TT = get on with it!
swannymere Posted 7 September, 2008 Posted 7 September, 2008 He can feck right off, i'm not signing up for any showbiz ********.
SaintMike Posted 7 September, 2008 Posted 7 September, 2008 It would certainly push the attendances up a bit!!

Good point, TT get down to Beckham Mansion and get the little fella signed up for us right now.
dubai_phil Posted 7 September, 2008 Posted 7 September, 2008 He can feck right off, i'm not signing up for any showbiz ********. Hmm. So don't want a profile person who comes in and brings enough money and pzazz to the club so the better youngsters don't have to be sold and we can attract even better ones here for next season Perhaps Ashley or Fulthorpe (lol) would be a better bet then? (I actually agree the concept though, who wants to be a media circus? but again reality bites these days..)
Colinjb Posted 7 September, 2008 Posted 7 September, 2008 Intresting that he keeps tabs of what is going on in the english domestic game outside of the top flight. A Beckham takeover would certain get the media looking on us more favourably.
paulwantsapint Posted 7 September, 2008 Posted 7 September, 2008 Sign up all of beck's boys we already have son of famous dad in bwp even offer posh a job in mega store
Wade Garrett Posted 7 September, 2008 Posted 7 September, 2008 We could get LLS in as chief executive and rebrand ourselves worldwide. We would have to be called Saints FC UK Ltd. Gullible f*ckers.
Thedelldays Posted 7 September, 2008 Posted 7 September, 2008 Is he actually rich enough? mate, im nearly rich enough to buy us...
Wes Tender Posted 7 September, 2008 Posted 7 September, 2008 Is he actually rich enough? According to Wikepedia, their joint wealth is estimated at about £112 million, so together they are probably worth far more then Lowe, Wilde, Askham, Crouch, Richards and all the other charlatans who are are currently involved on the board or own shares in the club. Even if he used 10% of his wealth, which would be sensible for him not to risk more than that, it is still sufficient to buy us, but not enough to invest in additional players. But if there was any truth in this article, he would be using what we have here already. Whether we'd want him or not is a different matter. Him and say Keegan together, that would be an interesting proposition.
Thedelldays Posted 7 September, 2008 Posted 7 September, 2008 I should imagine if becks buys a club he would have no end of people wanting to get involved and put some of their wealth in.. it would be a media circus though........
Saint Martini Posted 7 September, 2008 Posted 7 September, 2008 Isn't he supposed to earn 250 million or something in two years at LAG? That should give him enough dosh to buy us I'd say.

Amesbury Saint Posted 7 September, 2008 Posted 7 September, 2008 Could'nt he put down a deposit! £1 would probably buy the whole club!
swannymere Posted 7 September, 2008 Posted 7 September, 2008 I wonder how many other forums are putting links up to this right now and laughing at 'those sad, gullible saints fans'?
Amesbury Saint Posted 7 September, 2008 Posted 7 September, 2008 "When I eventually I retire i'd love to come back to england and own a football club. sperm_john Posted 7 September, 2008 Posted 7 September, 2008 haha what a joke cant see that ever happening
Sheaf Saint Posted 7 September, 2008 Posted 7 September, 2008 we should resign brett ormerod just for the occasion. Loltastic!
eelpie Posted 7 September, 2008 Posted 7 September, 2008 not high enough profile for us, sorry But Brooklyn is small enough. He would nutmeg the lot!
JustMike Posted 7 September, 2008 Posted 7 September, 2008 id be happy with that, the guy is loaded!!!
Matthew Le God Posted 7 September, 2008 Posted 7 September, 2008 where is this quote from? found it in the sunday express
Toomer Posted 7 September, 2008 Posted 7 September, 2008 We should resign Brett Ormerod just for the occasion. We know a song about that, don't we Billy.
yorkie Posted 7 September, 2008 Posted 7 September, 2008 I don't think he has fond memories of The Dell. Not only did he hear the songs - he saw the malice in our eyes too being so close to the pitch... Beckham goes Wilde on Lowe! David Beckham has just bought Southampton FC from the current owners Southampton Leisure Holdings, and says "Vix and me always wanted another kid - so to celebrate we going to have a quick sh@g in Hamble...it's a nice name for a boy!"
Oz Posted 7 September, 2008 Posted 7 September, 2008 £1 would probably buy the whole club! not true, venables bought that oufit down the road for that! lol
Andy_Porter Posted 7 September, 2008 Posted 7 September, 2008 I hope there isn't any truth in this... i'd rather have Lowe in charge.
derry Posted 7 September, 2008 Posted 7 September, 2008 Then he wakes up, looking at the £50m reality. Then thinks what the hell do I need that for. I thought I'd go and buy a new E class Mercedes yesterday, picked out a car, then thought what the hell do I need to change cars for. So I don't think I'll bother.
saint_ed Posted 7 September, 2008 Posted 7 September, 2008 I'm going to put this one down as a wind up I think.
Matthew Le God Posted 7 September, 2008 Posted 7 September, 2008 I'm going to put this one down as a wind up I think. Why? I haven't seen if the article is as the opening post states however from the BBC gossip column... David Beckham has revealed he would like to own a football club when he retires from playing. (Sunday Express)
Torrent Of Abuse Posted 7 September, 2008 Posted 7 September, 2008 If you're going to quote an article, you really need to include the full quote. You missed a bit from the middle paragraph: "I like the looks of clubs such as Ipswich, Derby and Southampton because these are the types of clubs that are developing youngster players on a regular basis, especially Southampton who (along with their forward-thinking chairman and exciting management team) have implemented a new system for development whereby the younger players are given a chance in the first team. I would be absolutely thrilled to be involved. Thrilled, I tell you. Tom [Cruise] was bouncing up and down on the sofa when I told him about it."
Master Bates Posted 8 September, 2008 Posted 8 September, 2008 Can only see the pic when I quote it, how strange.
itchen Posted 8 September, 2008 Posted 8 September, 2008 As long as his wife doesn't sing at half time, this sounds good (if unbelievably unlikely).
Durleyfos Posted 8 September, 2008 Posted 8 September, 2008 The only way he'd buy SFC is if Brooklyn says "Dad, can I have a cowboy outfit for my birthday, please?"
SuperSAINT Posted 8 September, 2008 Posted 8 September, 2008 Read the paper quickly in Morrison's yesterday - Nothing mentioned about Saints. It's bull****.
