Paper version of Echo today says Holmes is injured, and quotes Pardew as saying he does want to keep him and Holmes does not want away.

Getting that way I agree, but I'd certainly wondered why he wasn't in the squad, and a few on here had suggested he was trying to leave.

 

When he's been fit and played he's looked good -- a potential matchwinner even.

I think it's psychosematic, a bit like Marcus Trescothick's Test Match phobia. As soon as he comes anywhere near first team selection he has palpitations and needs to pull out injured.

We seem a little unlucky at the moment to have two reasonable LM's injured, if AP rates Holmes and he isn't Darren Anderton in disguise then that's good as the next concern we have at the moment is RM.

 

Although being cheeky, seeing as Holmes is the next Arjen Robben, seems AP doesn't think he is, ergo he doesn't rate him as highly as previous regimes.

 

Which, in PL land would lead to a headline in NotW or the Sun-

 

AP doubts Holmes' ability....
