iamasaint Posted 21 August, 2009 Share Posted 21 August, 2009 Hi, I am visiting from Singapore (yes yes we actually STILL have fans here) and would very much like to attend the game against Brentford tomorrow. I am in Paris right now and am thinking of taking the eurostar to Waterloo and then drive up or take another train. Could some kind soul please advise which is the best way to get from Paris to Southampton? Also, could I still buy tickets at the door tomorrow? I can only leave for Southampton tomorrow morning. I assume the game starts at 12? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
Saint_clark Posted 21 August, 2009 Share Posted 21 August, 2009 I'd imagine you could get a return flight from Paris to Southampton. Not sure though. And yes, tickets can be bought on the day.
Gigersaint Posted 21 August, 2009 Share Posted 21 August, 2009 Maybe around 19-20k? When I got a ticket for my son yesterday sales were already over 15k according to the ticket office. Does anyone know roughly how many tickets get sold from walk up on the day?

Flight back sunday evening is £63.

lordswoodsaints Posted 21 August, 2009 Share Posted 21 August, 2009 18k.....I think a few people would have lost a bit of interest after the fook up that was Swindon. It will still be more than Pompey will get at home for their next game though, especially as James,Campbell, distin and nugent will all leave in the next few days.:-) Why oh why didn't they look at us and not learn from our mistakes. fromthedell Posted 21 August, 2009 Share Posted 21 August, 2009 People have very short memories. It was only a matter of weeks ago that we very nearly lost our club forever. It will be very sad for the new owner if we don't get at least 20K. But nothing would surprise me anymore COYR Stand up and be counted. i think your find that 15000 is a very good crowd in this league considering most teams only get between 6000 to 8000

You then have to cross London on the tube to get southampton train from waterloo to Southampton. Time to do it for a 3pm (NB) kick off, but flying direct to southampton airport would be quicker. K. MorningtonCrescent Posted 21 August, 2009 Share Posted 21 August, 2009 Eurostar doesn't arrive into Waterloo anymore - St Pancras is the new London International Rail Terminal. As someone else said - Flybe direct from Paris to Southampton has to be the quickest (and cheapest?) option. Match KO time is 3pm not 12, so plenty of time to get a flight and enjoy a pre-match drink?!

CLOTH EARS Posted 21 August, 2009 Author Share Posted 21 August, 2009 I think the attendance will begin to fall away until there seems to be a structure to the team and a sniff of a chance of victory.......15k tomorrow would be satisfactory........a victory and it will build.........a defeat or dull draw and it will diminish In the days when supporters didn't need to buy their tickets in advance the Saints crowds would genarally go up when the team had won its previous game and vice versa, if the team went on an unbeaten run the crowds would rise game on game and again if the team was on a losing run the crowds would drop off game on game. The fact of the matter is that the fans like to see winning teams. If you check through Saints fixtures and attendances in the mid 1970's, when advance ticket purchases were not neccassary, you will see what i mean. There may be a couple of exceptions but generally you will see that what I am saying is correct.
mcjwills Posted 21 August, 2009 Share Posted 21 August, 2009 im not going after Tuesday Typical part time supporter I'm not an ST holder, so saves me £30 It's only £22.00 at the cheapest seats Pre-season friendly for my club side, still massively injured after Stevegrant ruined my career so i'm Asst Manager this season Well Saint Stevo, I wont expect you to be on the site this weekend pontificating about how bad the team is as you were not there to give a proper objective view. I never come on to the site to run down the team if I have not attended the game, as I can not give a proper unbiased opinion without seeing it for myself. ericofarabia Posted 23 August, 2009 Share Posted 23 August, 2009 I was very impressed wih the vocal support from the Brentford fans. We as per usual went a bit flat when they equalised, we should be used to it by now Hoping for better vocal support at Stockport than we mustered at Huddersfield. Obviously a better performance on the pitch would help
