Clifford Nelson Posted 2 September, 2009 Posted 2 September, 2009 We could be a much better team if we just played two wide men, packing the centre of the field is destroying us. It just stops us from any effective attacking and leaves us vulnerable down the flanks. It is so frustrating, Lallana's positional play is a major cause of our problems. Wotton giving the ball away plus the lack of wide players mean we never get runners out of midfield, reinforcing the strikers to get on the end of crosses from the byeline. It is so easily fixed. Let's be fair here Derry. Lallana has actually improved every game so far and stays much wider than he has before. I have been a critic, but on current form he deserves to be in the team, although he needs to improve a bit further. Wotton won't play unless there are several injuries, and there is finally somebody with pace around who could do the business down the right if he gets the work permit in time. AP is well aware of the shortcomings in attack and will have worked on that another week. I reckon it will have improved because he has improved everything else he has worked on. On balance I can see a win. Not convincing, maybe, but 1-0 or 2-1. The real performances will be another month or so away.
derry Posted 3 September, 2009 Posted 3 September, 2009 Not when that was posted, after the Swindon game, Lallana pulled his finger out against Birmingham but one swallow doesn't make a summer. With the new players I can't see him up front instead of Saganowski (if he stays) or wide left instead of a fit Mills/Holmes although right midfield is a possibility if Waigo doesn't play there. I personally would play him as a last thirty minute impact sub wide or up front.
Kingsbridge Saint Posted 3 September, 2009 Posted 3 September, 2009 Yeah, right. Believe it when I see it. Another home draw Saturday anyone?
BlakeySFC Posted 3 September, 2009 Posted 3 September, 2009 Not going to happen this year i'm afraid...maybe next year in League 2 though who knows?
Doctoroncall Posted 3 September, 2009 Posted 3 September, 2009 Yeah, right. Believe it when I see it. Another home draw Saturday anyone? Possibly, but signing new players doesn't mean an immediate turn around. If things don't improve this month, I'll be worried.
Toomer Posted 3 September, 2009 Posted 3 September, 2009 Due a hiding, thought you were talking about the yoof.
conaero Posted 3 September, 2009 Posted 3 September, 2009 would be happy with just staying up to be honest, I would take it now. Remember, bottom 4 go down in this league!
pap Posted 3 September, 2009 Posted 3 September, 2009 I wasn't at the last game, but reading the Beeb's updates online seemed like a lot of attacking play from the Saints, and a lot of saves from Stockport's keeper. I'm hoping the team clicks very soon.
scotty Posted 5 September, 2009 Posted 5 September, 2009 And I think ity could all start on Saturday ;-) Play offs will do for me this year! bump
Leicestersaint Posted 5 September, 2009 Posted 5 September, 2009 And I think ity could all start on Saturday ;-) Play offs will do for me this year! Huh??
Micky Posted 5 September, 2009 Posted 5 September, 2009 Ahhhh right so obviously we are saving this one for next week... Charlton Athletic 0 v 5 Southampton Far fetched..? Maybe - but remember Wolves a couple of seasons ago - who predicted that one eh..?
Kingsbridge Saint Posted 5 September, 2009 Posted 5 September, 2009 Yeah, right. Believe it when I see it. Another home draw Saturday anyone? And the wait goes on.
Window Cleaner Posted 5 September, 2009 Posted 5 September, 2009 And the wait goes on. we will get a hiding from Charlton, or maybe not, we are Saints remember, nothing is predictable.
