red&white56 Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 HI just wondering whats going on with Jaidi as i awlays see people mention his name in other threads! are we appealing for his work permit? as i think he would be a 1st class signing! Back to the question - I also would like to know as I'm opting for a 100% revamp of the team, so let's get as many new faces as possible !
Ken Tone Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 HI just wondering whats going on with Jaidi as i awlays see people mention his name in other threads! are we appealing for his work permit? as i think he would be a 1st class signing! Last I read on here we hadn't even applied for a permit because we didn't expect to get one -- I think becasue he's played so few internationals lately-- so we can hardly appeal. On the other hand can't he apply for naturalisation as an UK citizen now he's been here 5 years? Either way I'd have thought we'd have signed him by now if we were going to. K.
scott_saints Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 Don't think we will be getting him and for god sakes man it's "what's"
Saints foreva Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 Why don't we appeal - it doesn't cost money does it?
bungle Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 Why don't we appeal - it doesn't cost money does it? Impossible to appeal on the basis there hasn't been a first application yet.
Verbal Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 We may be crap at football, but no one is ever going to get close to challenging the Saintsweb Spelling Bee team.
altoniansaints Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 Why don't we appeal - it doesn't cost money does it? didn`t we sign away our right to appeal
RonManager Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 Re Capital letters, I refer the honourable gentleman to my post of the 18th inst. http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?p=421015#post421015

Half-answering my own question now I've googled it, since he has been here the required 5 years he can indeed apply to become a UK citizen and thus would not need a work permit. So what's the problem? Would he not still be eligible to play for Tunisia? We allow dual citizenship in the UK don't we? Besides he isn't getting picked for Tunisia any more. More than meets the eye to this story IMO. K.

Not sure if this applies to Tunisia, but could affect his tax/assets/international call-up position if he were obliged to ditch his Tunisian citizenship.
kpturner Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 Don't think we will be getting him and for god sakes man, it's signing.Careful - you used "there" instead of "their" earlier today :-)

According to http://www.opm.gov/EXTRA/INVESTIGATE/is-01.PDF both countries allow dual citizenship, and he does meet UK requirements for naturalisation. So there must be some further complication beyond just the work permit issue. Like maybe he or we changed our minds! K.
TopGun Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 Don't think Jaidi showed enough desire or intent to come to Saints so he can **** off anyway!
Carlos Fandango Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 Don't think we will be getting him and for god sakes man, it's signing. We must be quite appealing. (and it's "accept" by the way, not "except")
hypochondriac Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 Careful - you used "there" instead of "their" earlier today :-) Indeed. I actually noticed afterwards but I was writing on my phone and it would take too long to edit!
Matthew Le God Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 You can't appeal a ruling if there was never a ruling in the first place.

You're not possibly suggesting it was another reason other than the work permit are you? You will get hung, drawn and quartered for that in here! :gasp:
SO16_Saint Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 is this more of a question to Jaidi? "Jaidi, are we appealing?"
RonManager Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 You can't appeal a ruling if there was never a ruling in the first place. Yuo can't appeal against a ruling...
Rogerfryisalegend Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 Yuo can't appeal against a ruling... You.
RonManager Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 That'll teach you to be pedantic Ron Jist troyng to kipp the Quoon's Onglish as she orta be spoke, ken?
SFC Forever Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 Yuo can't appeal against a ruling... I wasn't going to
RonManager Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 I wasn't going to Sure? I only charge £400 an hour - cheap as chips.
EastleighSoulBoy Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 Don't think we will be getting him and for god sakes man, it's signing. For God's sake man it's not god sakes. Pedantry, practiced perfectly. Also, alliteration allowed.
hypochondriac Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 For God's sake man it's not god sakes. Pedantry, practiced perfectly. Also, alliteration allowed. IMO less of a mistake than mispelling signing...
krissyboy31 Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 IMO less of a mistake than mispelling signing... what about misspelling misspelling?
EastleighSoulBoy Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 IMO less of a mistake than mispelling signing... Without doubt. However, when one gets pedantic one must cover one's back. (I'm sure that somewhere along the line I may have made an error for St Landrew to out pedant me!)
Wes Tender Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 I understand that an application for an indefinite leave to remain visa is currently taking several weeks to process. Could it be that we are keeping quiet about the player so as not to attract interest for him elsewhere while his application is processed? In the meantime, perhaps we are patiently biding our time, making short term loans cover until it is all resolved.
hypochondriac Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 what about misspelling misspelling? FFS. I've been drinking now. It doesn't count.
CanadaSaint Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 I'm pretty sure that people who can't spell think that people who can spell can't spell. If you know what I mean.
hypochondriac Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 I'm pretty sure that people who can't spell think that people who can spell can't spell. If you know what I mean. I'm normally a good speller. I judge this by the fact that people come to me to ask how to spell things!
Verbal Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 I'm normally a good speller. I judge this by the fact that people come to me to ask how to spell things! How long did you take to type that?
Wes Tender Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 I'm normally a good speller. I judge this by the fact that people come to me to ask how to spell things! And your spelling of "things" was correct.
SOTONS EAST SIDE Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 (edited) All you grammar police, can go fook youselves!lol :smt078 Edited 20 August, 2009 by SOTONS EAST SIDE
Verbal Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 All you grammar police, can go fook youselves! :smt078 Space after the comma, you've misspelled 'yourselves', and there's another word in there that doesn't look quite right.
krissyboy31 Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 All you grammar police, can go fook youselves! :smt078 A space between the comma following police (which isn't actually needed) and the 'c' in comma, please!
Verbal Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 A space between the comma following police (which isn't actually needed) and the 'c' in comma, please! Well, it would be needed, or at least optional, if you read it as implying the word 'you' after the comma.
SOTONS EAST SIDE Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 Space after the comma, you've misspelled 'yourselves', and there's another word in there that doesn't look quite right.By the way , its "there is" not there's. Peasant!
Verbal Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 By the way , its "there is" not there's. Peasant! Wrong in so many ways. Apart from the space before the comma, 'there's' is a perfectly acceptable abbreviation of 'there is', and you've forgotten the apostrophe in 'it's'. I think I'll pass the 'peasant' baton back to you.
