What it says in the title.

Am simply curious to know is he going to be sufficiently committed, and interested in us, to attend every game, home and away? Or will he just pick and choose games?

So for that matter, was he at huddersfield?

How keen is he on playing with his new 'train set'?

The more of a fan he becomes the more he'll get sucked into spending money!

I doubt it. I doubt he'd be at any of our midweek games TBH. He is not going to keep his diary at Mali clear on a Tuesday afternoon so that he can fly to the UK for a match and fly back for his Wednesday morning meeting.

Posted
The only directors I saw in the directors box at the game were Dave Jones, Andy Oldknow and Cortese

How on earth is Dave Jones still a director.

he should move his Mali HQ to Southampton then...

Oh dear god.

How many times - he has spent a significant amount of money buying the club, appointed Cortese to run the business for him, agreed a long term plan including a budget for this season and is leaving Cortese up to it. So that is his commitment sorted. He won't be selling any time soon. That enough for you?

He lives in Switzerland and has other commitments also - i.e. has a life outside Football which can't be a bad thing.

He will come to as many games as he can but Cortese and crew will be there every step of the way for him.

I am happy with that!

How many more times do I have to say this.....he's only here as a Trojan Horse for his siblings to help them win the contract for supply of cranes for the Southampton Dock expansion programme.

Keep up.

(Note: A percentage of the above statement is completely made up)

I don't think he is going to turn up at every game, and not doing so is fine by me. I don't see his perpetual presence as a sign of commitment - the large wedge of cash he has stumped up to buy the club is commitment enough methinks.

Pretty sure he lives in Dubai, read it somewhere... Anyway, I wouldn't expect him to attend every game, but seeing him at the majority of home games would'nt be a bad thing.

Agreed - with the scarf!!!

Dubai eh?! Very nice - I know he has a place out in Switzerland but Dubai too I spose and prob a few other places! Alright for some!!

No. That was an incorrect translation from Bablefish (or similar). He definitely lives in Switzerland.

Yeah love that scarf, got one identical and have had it since I was just a little boy, signed by James Beattie as well haha. I have something in common with our billionaire owner, love it.

Ah right, fair enough. Yeah I remember reading it on here now off someone's translation. I'll take your word for it.

Totally agree.

The mood has somewhat changed in a very short space of time. Asking stupid questions as the title of this thread does no one any good but for some reason people just like to pick more holes.

FFS get behind this bloke before he decides he dont like the attitude of certain fans and takes his money elsewhere.

Some people are just never happy!!!

Well he lives in Switzerland so I very much doubt he was there. He'll more than likely just come back for the odd home game like he is doing.

He was thinking of going ....... but the last bus back to Gatwick was too late for his flight .......

Posted

He clearly stated in a German language article that whilst he does not intend to move to Southampton (think of the tax liability!) he plans to attend all home games.

Markus can do as he pleases.

He spent shedloads to buy this club (thank you :-) )

He put Nicola Cortese and Andy Oldknow in place to run things...

He paid for HIS SEASON TICKET

How much more can he do?

If the idea of the thread is create some irony with complaints last season re: Lowe and Wilde (specifically) not attending all games, well done.

Neither of them did any of the above...christ if they would have paid for their season tickets there would have been a round of national TV interviews to plug the fact ;-)

How many fans attend every game home and away?? Mr Liebherr is not the DWPS and to be honest has no need to increase the hand outs he has already made by idlely throwing money at us. IMO we need to show and in some cases improve our commitment before he provides more cash.

blimey... and breath!!

if you read the OP's post, it just says he was curious, no agenda or hatred if he didn't make games each week, there was no malice in this thread and yet people are getting all argumentative and defensive over nothing.

And Crouch would be telling us all that the money he lost wasn't an issue and that he fixed the statue for the good of the club and the memory of Ted (and expected no PR points from it?) oh and all donations over £1000 would be in the programme and on the club's os for reasons of......transparency? Or self promotion?

I think you're probably right but no need to leave out those who gave and somehow us fans found out.

I take your comments in the spirit they are intended NC.....please add Askham and Richards to the donation list.

That's more balanced isn't it ?

(How much did Lowe and Wilde donate to the cause?) ;-)

I was wondering if Markus could sweep by Exeter airport on his way to Southampton..

He could pick up a dozen or so from this area. Just a thought.

I like that idea alot!!!!! Mid week games only for me though weekends I'm home in soton lol

There are quite a few down this way.....I can feel a few beers coming on...Markus could be our President here in Devon.:)

Funny, funny thread - love it. Couldn't make Swindon or Huddersfield, absolutely no passion about the team - time to mag to grid and get someone new in eh...!

I think the "sufficiently committed..." bit is the cause of the ire TBH

I have no idea perhaps they gave money in line with the laws of the Jewish Talmud.

'A man who gives charity in secret is greater than Moses'

Now I don't know about you but that is how I prefer to make my donations and it also cuts down on the junk mail.

Quite. Thanks.

Some of you lot could start a fight in an empty room.

As I said I was merely curious. There was no implicit, let alone explicit, criticism of Liebherr.

Does it matter? I mean has he actually done anything wrong?

What a pointless thread. As I recall Lowe went to pretty much every game when in charge, didnt do much good did it!

I am sorry but this thread at the moment baffles me. If he comes he comes if not - who cares as long as he keeps investing... which he is. That's commitment enough for me.

Don't you think "is he going to be sufficiently committed, and interested in us, to attend every game" implies that you feel that lack of attendance at every game = lack of commitment to us? That is what people are biting at IMHO.

Exactly. The bloke owns a number of businesses and no doubt has a managing director at each of them.

 What is wrong with the Neal Trotman thread then?

Lol nothing now I seen it, its a bit low down and I didnt scroll down very far.

TBH I was expecting it to be at the top

I think Master is referring to the fact that it is more relevant and interesting than trying to generate a debate about whether the bloke who has just spent millions on Saints and continues to do so, is interested or not.

I'm up for that, down here in Plympton ( + wife and five juniors!) :)
