Dodgy e-mails /links

I keep getting loads of spam e-mails from yahoo addresses (usually from a girls name address) with links in them, no text just links. Obviously I don't click on the links, but there is a part of me that wonders what they are links too!

I would put the links here but guess that's not wise, but just wondered if everyone deletes these things, or if any of you click on them?

Are they links to porn? (good times)

Or links to viruses? (bad times)

Why would anyone wish to give you a virus? I have never heard of anyone getting these emails that you describe. I think it is just you. Maybe word has got about that you are a stud and available. They are probably links to potential girlfriends who will do all the disgusting sexual things (finger up bum etc) and none of the nagging. Go and click the links now, you won't regret it.

Anything in my spam folder just gets deleted, I don't even look to see what is there. Far too many spam emails going around, I just assume they are all bogus.

I've only once had a virus and that in a email from someone I knew, too me an age to rid my PC of it and only then as I was able to call on a friend who knew exactly what to do.

May not be a virus.

Regular Av software deals with about 12 common threats, there can be up to 320 out there.

It could be spyware, organised crime makes a great deal of money capturing what you type including Credit card info.

Recent E-Crime conference mentioned all sorts of ways of getting you onto a mailing list.

delete it

Sounds a bit like the email I got from that lovely Nigerian chap. I felt sorry for him as English clearly wasn't his first language but he tried so hard to make himself understood. Apparently he had all this money due to him but the will that left it to him said it had to be paid into a bank before he could get it. He doesn't have a bank account so he asked if I could help by having it paid into my account and he would split it with me for my inconvenience. What inconvenience? All I had to do was send him my account details and he would do the rest! Unfortunately I had to explain that I would be out of the country for a while so would not be able to help him, but I did pass on a name of someone who may well be able to. Mr Al Faraj needs a few extra quid apparently....
