Wes Tender Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 So's the Batmobile...doesn't mean i want it playing centre back for Saints... No, quite. With the money that we have at our disposal now, we ought to be thinking in terms of another big black car that puts the Batmobile in the shade. Kitt from Night Rider.

Smirking_Saint Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 Why are people moaning about the fact that it is a loan deal ??? And only 6 months ?? Perhaps we attempted to buy him however the player was not ready for a perm move to a team on -9 in the division below ???? If he is as highly rated as has been stated then surely his ambition will be higher than us at the time being ?? Perhaps he is waiting to see if we kick on a bit and look to be making progress by crimbo ?? Calm down FFS, people ask for replacements then moan when we get them
.comsaint Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 Why are people moaning about the fact that it is a loan deal ??? Calm down FFS, people ask for replacements then moan when we get them Ah - the owner/manager/boardroom/team may change - but the fans remain the same!
SFC Forever Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 I think AP has a set criteria for purchases of players eg ability, age etc thats why we have bought the players we have - there are long term plans. If thats the case then I suspect that AP will have identified who he wants and will get them but that could be hampered by the fact that we have 2 strikers that want to leave who are both high wage earners (as alluded to by Dubai Phil). This guy may or may not fullfill APs exact requirements but by the lokk of thing he will do the job and if he plays well may just get a contract offer. Contrary to some beliefs I beleive AP knows what hes doing he can't help the fact that the best part of his squad just have no desire, determination or bravery. I must agree. The youngster is well fancied at pNE and has done really well for Oldham. Having come in to the team when needed through injuries and done well I reckon he should be capable of doing it for us as well. After all we are now at the same level as that in which he has played. This could as said above be one of those, do well and we will sign you deals. Would be good if it was because of his age. Young enough to give us ten plus years if it works out. Failing that, if he does well for the 6 months it gives AP time to get another in as his replacement.
The Kraken Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 Why are people moaning about the fact that it is a loan deal ??? And only 6 months ?? Perhaps we attempted to buy him however the player was not ready for a perm move to a team on -9 in the division below ???? Perhaps he is waiting to see if we kick on a bit and look to be making progress by crimbo ?? Calm down FFS, people ask for replacements then moan when we get them Because we seem to have a number of cretins on this message board who clearly know little about the mechanisms involved in turning around a club such as ours on a limited budget. The implication that a loan signing is a bad idea is simply absurd, and planning for 2 or 3 years time is all well and good when you're operating from a stable platform. We clearly are not, and have to turn around our performances and results as quickly as possible, and certainly within the 6 months that this loan spell is suggested for. I don't recall anyone looking back on the loan spells of David Beckham, Jermaine Defoe, John Terry, Michael Carrick as being anything but beneficial for both the players and the clubs involved.
thorpie the sinner Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 yes, but has he signed yet???????????????????????? bloomin Nora!
St.Patrik Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 Nope - not even a whisper about this anywhere then the SKY´s site... wery stange
SNSUN Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 To put it bluntly, I said I'd've been immensely suprised if Pardew didn't bring a CB before Saturday. We've been screaming out for it, even if this is a temporary measure. I don't know how good this guy is, but in all honesty, he must be better than what we have. Must be. Now another CB before September 1st and we'll be all set. (Oh, and AP, please loan Lancashire out to whomever will take him...)
PokingFun Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 Err, no they are not. If they are no good then why sign them in the first place? Nobody seems to know anything about this lad. My guess would be that he has a similar level of experience as Lancashire . All that happens is you end up with someone for 6 months that adds nothing to the squad. If he goes back in Jan then we are left with a problem, and have to go through the whole process again, looking for another defender on a 6 month loan. The problem is that we don't have a single centre back who is any good. We should be looking to buy 2 players who can build a central defensive partnership that will become a solid unit for years to come. We should also be looking to buy a striker who can partner Lambert and form a striking partnership. I can't believe that our scouts have been unable to identify players who can do a job for us and bring some much needed quality to the team. There are players out there who can do a job for us - We've proved this by signing the likes of Lambert and Hammond. Didn't Leicester sign Jack Hobbs on loan last season from Liverpool and end up going up with him being a pivotal part of the team and they ended up buying him?
kpturner Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 The silence is deafening from all parties except Sky. If Mawene is injured I can't see it hapnin' myself.
St.Patrik Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 http://www.lep.co.uk/pnenews/Trotman-out-on-loan-to.5573432.jp Just found this
Toadhall Saint Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 http://www.lep.co.uk/pnenews/Trotman-out-on-loan-to.5573432.jp Just found this how long b4 the echo report it then? I'll give it 2 hours!
S-Clarke Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 He's ours (well until the new year anyway) - will be announced this afternoon
scotty Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 Another loanee !! Sorry, I just don't see why we aren't backing our convictions. its been said before but bears repeating: how many players are going to be champing at the bit to get into a side on -9 points at the bottom of league 1? Far as Im concerned, APs done well to buy in the former captains of reading and colchester plus last years top scorer in L1.
skintsaint Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 my PNE mate says this about him...more optimistic now.. -------------- Yeah he is quality, big strong and scores a few, just young though, and has not had an extended run. Colchester loved him last year, after the 1st game the manager said he will offer 1 mil for him he was that good. He will be really good for us one day i think, was out for nearly a year with an injury last year.
niceandfriendly Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 He's ours (well until the new year anyway) - will be announced this afternoon Sounds good. Are you going by the sky sports website or do you actually know?
krissyboy31 Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 Sounds good. Are you going by the sky sports website or do you actually know? Well if it's being reported in the Lancashire Evening Post, I guess there's a good chance it's correct.
S-Clarke Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 Sounds good. Are you going by the sky sports website or do you actually know? I'm ITK PNE supporting friend got an SMS from their official site saying it was a done deal - loan till jan 3rd.
Hopkins Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 Yep he's signed. I know its not a big exclusive as others have said it but my source who mentioned the Chelsea youth players has confirmed it to me.
kpturner Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 The silence is deafening from all parties except Sky. If Mawene is injured I can't see it hapnin' myself.Good - I am happy to be wrong. Sounds like a decent player.
niceandfriendly Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 Nice, cheers fellas. Reading what the Preston fans are saying this guy looks decent and as others on here have mentioned he simply has to be better than what we've got at the moment. I said straight after the Swindon game that if we don't bring in at least 2 new faces before Brentford (didn't care who!) then we'd definately lose - feeling a little more positive now. AP is definately strengthening in the areas needed.
eelpie Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 Well we've signed about 25 of them over the last few years and none of those (since Killer) have been able to!! Except Dean Richards
ruddick Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 All confirmed - Lancs Evening Post and Radio Solent.
saints-cris Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 I liked the bit where it says 'he scored within 10 seconds of coming on as a sub'. Cool.
Asaint4ever Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 All confirmed - Lancs Evening Post and Radio Solent. Great news! him and thomas at the back happy days! bye lanc!
kpturner Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 Except Dean RichardsDean Richards was not "since" Killer.
Chez Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 Didn't Leicester sign Jack Hobbs on loan last season from Liverpool and end up going up with him being a pivotal part of the team and they ended up buying him? they certainly did, but note also that Pearson also bought Michael Morrison a young player from Cambridge United - a young pacey CB with lower league experience similar to our man Trot
ruddick Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 I liked the bit where it says 'he scored within 10 seconds of coming on as a sub'. Cool. A CB who can score - hurrah! Can we change the title of this thread to Neal Trotman now as he is one of ours I feel we should spell his name correctly!
St.Patrik Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 Wonder what number he will get ? Like 82 or something regarding our now rather big squad ; )
Chez Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 my PNE mate says this about him...more optimistic now.. -------------- Yeah he is quality, big strong and scores a few, just young though, and has not had an extended run. Colchester loved him last year, after the 1st game the manager said he will offer 1 mil for him he was that good. He will be really good for us one day i think, was out for nearly a year with an injury last year. if he settles in quick I'd like to think we might get him signed up for the full year. I'm fascinated to see how Hammond and Trottman fair. For far too long we have bought `average' name players (Harding might even fit into this category) instead of raiding the best talent from the lower leagues. Now we are in a lower league we finally take advantage. Its been a very very bad week for me so I'm excited at this signing and the potential forward steps we might be taking.
krissyboy31 Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 A CB who can score - hurrah! Can we change the title of this thread to Neal Trotman now as he is one of ours I feel we should spell his name correctly! Why should HE get preferential treatment, he's only a loanee! Matt Paterson, or Patterson, or Pattinson, or Pattison may have something to say about that!!
Thedelldays Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 Why should HE get preferential treatment, he's only a loanee! Matt Paterson, or Patterson, or Pattinson, or Pattison may have something to say about that!! and rasiack
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 Wonder what number he will get ? Like 82 or something regarding our now rather big squad ; ) 6 is free or is that too sensible?!
sainter28 Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 6 is free or is that too sensible?! We will save 6 for the CB we sign and not loan in!!
krissyboy31 Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 We will save 6 for the CB we sign and not loan in!! Agreed! 12 or 36 IMO.
Kaiser Soze Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 Definitely a sign of how low we have sunk when we have people on here raving about a loan signing from PRESTON NORTH END. Get a grip people ffs.
Junior Mullet Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 Sat next to a PNE supporter; says he's good, but has had a number of injuries. Therefore perfectly sound to only bring him in on loan. I'm sure we'd be able to return him if he got badly injured.
dubai_phil Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 Definitely a sign of how low we have sunk when we have people on here raving about a loan signing from PRESTON NORTH END. Get a grip people ffs. Not quite fair, I think we are more raving about the fact we have someone OTHER than Perry & Lancashire for the next few months. TBF I think we'd have settled for anyone from anywhere right at this moment, 2 days before Brentford!
St.Patrik Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 He refused to go to Millwall earlier this week... http://www.prestonnorthend-mad.co.uk/news/loadnews.asp?cid=TMNW&id=458777
Chez Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 Definitely a sign of how low we have sunk when we have people on here raving about a loan signing from PRESTON NORTH END. Get a grip people ffs. aye? But we have sunk to league 1 and when you come to terms with that then you'll realise that signing a half million pound 22 year old centre back (allbeit for 6 months) is actually something tolift the spirits - especialyl for those thathave witnessed what the current CB encumbants have to offer.
Toadhall Saint Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 Definitely a sign of how low we have sunk when we have people on here raving about a loan signing from PRESTON NORTH END. Get a grip people ffs. Starting to realise now are we?
S-Clarke Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 Definitely a sign of how low we have sunk when we have people on here raving about a loan signing from PRESTON NORTH END. Get a grip people ffs. Time to adjust expectations, they're a division above us now - and he cost them 500k a couple of years back. We need to get used to signing reserve championship players for the next couple of seasons...
Scummer Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 Don't think anyone has posted the link yet, but it's on the OS now: http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~1762098,00.html
WATERSIDEIFASAINT Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 Sounds a decent centre back at this level.Surely he must be a lot better than our current centre backs.I wouldn't be surprised if we are trying to get a permanent signing in at centre back too.I reckon after the last 2 performances AP has deceided we need 2 centre backs and decided he couldn't wait any longer and had to at least get a loan signing in this week. He may be unable to sign the centre back he wants till January and that is why he has gone for a loan signing.I also think AP hasn't totally given up on Jaidi yet.Does anyone know if he is still training with the squad? Hopefully this will be the 1st of 2 centre backs arriving. Also hopefully a new right winger and a pacy forward if the Poles leave and then I will feel hopeful for a better rest of the season.
davefizzy14 Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 Any more news on Jaidi, is he still training with us?
whizz Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/southampton/8173915.stm on bbc now too...
TheOriginalChampions Posted 20 August, 2009 Posted 20 August, 2009 We've not seen a great deal of Trotman to be fair, due to the injury he had last season, although, in the few games he has played, he looks to be a very good talent. I watched him in the league cup game last week and although he was introduced when the game was already won, he played with fantastic composure, strong in the challenge and has excellent pace. In addition he is a real threat when attacking set pieces - he scored within 5 seconds of joining the game and then assisted at the following corner with a downward header for Mellor to score. It's very difficult to talk about the flaws in his game due to his very limited appearances. I would be highly surprised if this was to turn into a permanent deal, due to the manager holding him in such high regard.
