Definitely a sign of how low we have sunk when we have people on here raving about a loan signing from PRESTON NORTH END.

Get a grip people ffs.

Quite clearly it's you who needs to get a grip. We are bottom of league one, not in the premiership....

Looks good to me and if he starts Saturday and Hammond makes a debut in midfield, that will strengthen two desperately weak areas. Should do a deal on Wotton's contract now, has nothing to offer Saints and glacially slow. Still think Jaidi will be coming in as well and that would give us a more robust spine. Now we need 2 wide players with pace and a partner for Lambert up front.

We've not seen a great deal of Trotman to be fair, due to the injury he had last season, although, in the few games he has played, he looks to be a very good talent. I watched him in the league cup game last week and although he was introduced when the game was already won, he played with fantastic composure, strong in the challenge and has excellent pace. In addition he is a real threat when attacking set pieces - he scored within 5 seconds of joining the game and then assisted at the following corner with a downward header for Mellor to score. It's very difficult to talk about the flaws in his game due to his very limited appearances.

I would be highly surprised if this was to turn into a permanent deal, due to the manager holding him in such high regard.

Encouraging comments.

Hahaha, yes we really need to get a grip don't we? If only we could just get a grip of ourselves. Please teach us how to control our excitement as I know this signing has made me lose control for one. Teach us how to be more like you.

Pr*ck.

Lol, had a little chuckle in the office at that..

Levenshulme born Trotman soon attracted the attention of scouts from clubs in the higher divisions with his dominant displays at the back, and in January 2008 Preston paid £500,000 to secure his services.

Who is that centre back? He's so dominant...

Oldham fans like him tbh...

''Quality signing. On Loan until January?.

Colchester fans were raving about him when he was with them last season. Never put a foot wrong for us.

Better than any current centre half in league 1 in my opinion.''

Interesting one from Pards. It suggests to me that AP hasn't been able to bring in one of his primary targets, and so has dipped into the loan market as a short-term solution to our defensive problems.

If it works out well with Trotman and Preston are happy, we will no doubt extend his loan til the end of the season, but anything beyond that is unlikely as he's held in very high regard up in Lancashire. Wouldn't be too surprised to see us sign another defender on a permanent basis before the window shuts either, but time will tell. It's good to see that Pardew has signed a defender though.

I hope Trotman goes some way to sorting us out at the back, especially when it comes to defending and attacking set-pieces. I expect he'll partner Thomas at the back on Saturday now, as I don't think AP is happy with Perry being first-choice.

Can you please remind me of all the loan players we had when we were relegated from the prem?

I can only recall two, Davenport - who was crud; and Camara - who was awesome.

If he does well and he likes playing every week then there is every chance we could sign him in January.

Preston wouldn't refuse a good offer IMO and we would be an attractive move if he thinks we are going places.

Up to him to show he is good enough now but he sounds promising.

Well if nothing else AP has increased the average height of the team and in league one that seems to be an important factor.Sorry Gillett!

Good point

if you look down the spine of the team, Lambo - Hammond - Trotter...all way over 6ft..good stuf

Fine, IF we sign an experienced centre back too. Why the hell isn't JPS here? He looked good a league higher in a woeful team. Not to mention we'd have someone who could shoot from set pieces. He's free and wants to play for us, I just don't see where the risk is.

Forgive me but..............Didn't we concede a lot of set piece goals last season - a hell of a lot and wasn't he playing in many of those particular games? I'm not sure he is 'the answer' some are craving about........

Yep forgot about him, but (IIRC) that was an emergency one month loan though because we had no fit 'keepers. And he was also class during his spell with us. So I still don't see how 'lots of loans players' caused our relegation from the prem.

but did we? As I recall once JPS got in the side we reduced set peice goals considerably. Besides one player can't be everywhere and having 5'2" Perry next door winning **** all is quite a handicap never mind relatively poor fullbacks (arial speaking) and no real big man up front to come back and help out.

I'd take JPS in a shot. He's a ball winner. Comitted and powerful with just enough pace to get by.
