Pardew at West Ham - a fan view

Legod Third Coming

Recommended Posts

Annoying yes, but I think you (and others) are spot on with this assumption... It's impossible to notice patterns if you don't have anything to observe upon. Pardew is doing his observations in league games rather than preseason friendlies. Really, really annoying but that's just how it is.

The real test begins when Pardew has noticed some patterns, made his judgement and acted upon it. So far it doesn't look too bad. Lambert, Hammond, Murty, Harding all seem to have been brought in to address specific problems that the fans have been staring at for ages (not counting Mellis as I have a feeling he was a player that was just suddenly "available" through the Wilkins link and Pardew did't want to pass on him. Might prove to be the most useful luxury in League One though ;-)).

If somehow a big, bad CB appears soon I think Pardew has identified most of our major weaknesses in the starting XI and taken steps to correct them. Then he can take it from there and build a squad for promotion.

Next step from there is to see what Pardew can do with a squad he can actually vouch for player by player... If then, he appears to have lost the plot (which I find rather unlikely) I'll start to worry. Until then I'll consider us firmly in the "rebuilding but will take any point that comes along"-phase...

Hear hear -wise words from Mr Lazlo (Victor Lazlo from Casablanca?). My thoughts exactly. My only complaint re your disclaimer is that you're not coming to every match from Denmark - I dunnno -some people got no commitment :D :D

I think we need to get a grip on reality and give Pardew some time he is a prem manager and the new owners did well to attract him given our situation his signings so far have been good he knows which areas need strengthening and he needs time so we can see his team the two home performances have been good two away have been poor given time he will get us out of this league maybe not this year but next.

Some of us have short memory's a couple of months ago we nearly didnt have a club to support we have been on a massive downward spirall and it takes time to right the wrongs I am sure we are on the right track.

At least they gave him a season! :-)

I take it you would rather we all jump on a Pardew out bandwagon, and then hound out the next bloke in charge after 4 games.

give it time...

There isn't a Pardew out bandwagon.

Just fed up with the Alex Ferguson thing. It's irrelevent these days.

Being in the position that we find ourselves we have to be patient. AP will not find it easy to get the players he wants and we will probably have to wait until January to get the men he wants for longevity. The signings so far seem to be working out so now we need to unload some of our chaff. We have far to many players(?) on our books that will hopefully never be required to play for us.

I will be watching closely on Saturday to see what side he puts out against Brentford. Hammond I expect to play but will the PNE youngster. Trotman has gained a few admirers so far but he may need a week to get used to our system. One in which we can actually stop conceding at corners and free kicks would be nice.

My main concern with AP's selections so far has been the reliance on Wotton. I am still left wondering whether he sees something that we don't. Maybe in training.

The way things have been I reckon it might be better if he doesn't get used to our system ????

My wife has no problems convincing me that we have to go visit her aunt in Crawley every now and then. As long as I can take a train down south for one of my rare visits to St. Marys, I'm happy ;)

i agree..

I take august as our "pre season".... September is where (i hope) results will start to turn..

I still think that come january, we will be nicely in midtable..

I thought some team actually win in preseason and look good.

Do they all lose then and look rubbish?

Tbf west ham are a premier team and will find it a lot easier to attract the players they require......us on the other hand are a sh1te team in a sh1te league being beaten comfortably by some more sh1te teams.

No comparison really.

Have you ever heard of the phrase 'horses for courses'.

It is no easier for West Ham to buy suitable players than it is for us. We just shop in different shops. However, if you mean in the unlikely event that both clubs were going for the same players then you would be right - at the moment. They Premier - we div 1 (3rd division)

I am an old boy, and still remember when Ted Bates was appointed. Believe it not there was a sizable part of the fanbase that didn't want him.

But that was before the internet age, and the objections were not noticed on the scale of todays knee jerkers.

HE TURNED OUT ALRIGHT THOUGH!

Can someone please copy/paste this into the appropriate threads where people are slagging off Pardew again...

*News flash* - since the above was written a new CB has started and Wotton was also on the bench.. We're getting there, slowly but surely...

no, teams who have a full preseason generally look good at the start of the season - or at least prepared.

Teams who have been with their manager TWO (count them) weeks, take a little bit longer to sort out.

This is especially when all the young players have had their confidence shot and there has been a culture of losing at the club for the past 3/4 seasons.

How about we club together, lend you a fiver and then you can buy yourself a clue.

You obviously have no idea what you are talking about we are one of the worst teams in the Division

Pardew has had the team for eight or so matches and we are still rubbish

In fact worse than last season

Another team with the culture of losing Charlton seem to be doing very well
