Yeah flooding, it's hilarious! Are you for real?

They're Welsh.

It's not like they had no warning is it? The bloody weather forecast has predicted nothing but heavy rain and flooding for over a week now.

Doesn't take much to fill a few hessien bags with a bit of sand does it?

Just because some tourists got over confident with their 4x4 doesn't garner my pity I'm afraid - what on earth were they doing driving around in those conditions in the first place?

Fair point about the sandbags, BUT

Have you considered that they may not be able to get insured due to their location? Let's all laugh at someone less fortunate that us.

Not. Clever. At. All.

Yeah. Tbf if I was an insurer I wouldn't insure anyone in Wales either.

Possibly because they live in a house thats prone to flooding and is impossible to sell even at a knock down price.

Probably a house that they bought at a knock down price due to that very fact.....

If a deal looks too good to be true, it probably is

And the poor young mother who was on TV last night was in a council property. The council had assured her there wouldn't be flooding but, as the area had flooded in the past, she couldn't get contents insurance.

She'd only just moved in - I felt so sorry for her.

edit

And, generally, you can't refuse a council property - if you do, they won't offer you another one. So you're stuck between a rock and a hard place.

A young mother in a council house, hmmmmm, I wonder if it's free.....

Just be careful you don't stereotype ;)

Maybe, just maybe, her husband is in the Services (as a lot of Welshmen are) - or working away from home?

Or maybe, just maybe, her partner has left her? It happens, you know.

More the reactions to those that have been unfortunate due to nature. That is all.

I think it is all been taken a bit tongue-in-cheek.....

I doubt those would post such stuff on here if it directly effected southampton or someone they knew...

chill....

You really are going out of your way to appear a massive tw*t aren't you? Starting with your ill advised comments about those unfortunate enough to be flooded you then go on to display your stupidity with comments about people in council houses. There is a thread in the lounge, I think, about how the forum is going downhill.....that's all your fault fault that is.

Oh! That's alright then . . . not!

Nimby springs to mind, along with Right Wing stereotyping.

LOL then she would be housed by the forces.....

Or maybe, just maybe, her partner has left her? It happens, you know.

Then maybe, just maybe he should carry some of the blame then??

Whatever sympathy I had for you yesterday about your impending law suit has just evaporated.

You want us to feel some sympathy for your plight but you can't find it within yourself to feel sorrow for someone else's predicament.

I'm alright Jack eh?

I don't want or expect your sympathy.

My post yesterday was trying to highlight the pitiful way in which our country is run these days, with lawsuits being raised willy nilly, mainly due to the fact that large companies aren't prepared to defend their legal rights, as it is cheaper to pay for an issue to go away.

Perversely the actions of insurance companies not providing protection for these houses also highlights where this country is going.

However the flip side of that is that anyone who bought their house in a flood zone - I know when I've bought houses numerous searches are carried out, and houses that are in flood plains are specifically brought to the purchaser's attention - don't really deserve any sympathy [iMHO], as it was their choice to pay the price for the house, and their choice to take the risk whether or not a flood would actually happen. To go on the National News bleating that your house has been flooded and that you have no insurance quite frankly isn't an injustice, but [iMHO] is just plain stupidity.

With regards to the [alleged] council houses being built on a flood plain, then surely that is the responsibility of the council that built them, and once again bleating on the news about personal injustices just doesn't cut it with me. However if they wanted to take some action against the council for allegedly forcing them to live in that house, then they would get my support. If the council built the house and knew that insurance companies wouldn't insure it, then the council should cover the insurance costs [iMHO].

And yes, I am alright Jack. I looked at one house which was a real steal, until I realised it was built on a flood plain. That is when I decided not to buy it, and bought another house somewhere else. My house didn't get flooded.
